You say that they are the same franchises, but think about it, Zelda is 26 years old and there have only been Zelda, Zelda II, A link to the past, OOT, Majoras Mask, Wind Waker, Twighlight Princess and Skyward Sword on their major consoles. Thats 8 Zelda games in the last 26 years, compare that to many of todays franchises, their have been COD, CODII, CODIII, CODMW, CODWOW, CODMW2, CODBO, CODMW3, CODBO2 since 2003, thats 9 games in 9 years. Uncharted came out in 2007 and already have 3 entries. Gears since 2007 has also had 3 main titles.
My point being is that Nintendo SPACES out their releases, we really only get a Main Zelda title every 4 or so years. Same goes with 3-D mario and even less titles in the Metroid Universe. Donkey Kong only have 5 games total since DKC. And Nintendo always releases top notch quality releases.
Nintendo just knows not to stray to far from the formula that made the games great to begin with. If they changed it dramatically they would probobly get tons of backlash. Now if they releases a Zelda every single year, then yes, it would be a problem.
Sure, I would love nintendo take a few things from Darksiders II and intergrate them into the next Zelda Title, giving it some more RPG elements. But even if it's still Classic Zelda, it's still very enjoyable.
