[QUOTE="JimmyT2"]It looks like a good looking last gen game. So 3/10 if you have a hdtv and 6/10 if you don't.DaBrainz

First of all, actually play the game on a HDTV before you rate them. Anybody that has played SMG and Gears on the same TV would know that they are comparable in every category. The art style of these two games are very different but I had more "wow" moments with Mario flying across the surface of planets than any time during Gears.

In contrast, I think they had to sacrifice the size of the levels to achieve these graphics, making the game not as deep.

Umm... I have played both on a 50" 1080 hdtv. Gears upscaled and running at 1080p and SMG on component. I haven't played SMG on a sdtv but I have played games of the same resolution and similar texture quality. I have also seen Gears on sdtv and while the flaws in the older games are hidden Gears has reduced picture quality compared to hdtv. If you think they are of the same graphics quality your nuts, absolutely crazy and I really don't know what else to say.

I didn't say the same quality, I said comparable. For an example if Gears was an9.9 I would give SMG a 8.5 I was simply pointing out that if someone says OMG SMG=3/10 they have either not compared them on the same HDTV, eliminating all other variables or they are not being honest. That combined with the level design and it creates more of the fore mentioned "wow" moments.

Galaxy is in a league of its own. Not quite last-gen... not quite next-gen. It's locked in the middle with limited hardware capabilities but amazing style and artistic direction.

Are you guys kidding me????

Get real and quit being fanboys and sheep enthusiasts. Compared to GeOW, Uncharted, Unreal, SMG is literally a 4 on such a scale. Do not....get this mistaken.

HDR...NO.
Textures...Minimal
Poly Count...Last gen.

Get real fanboys. You are nowhere close.

DaBrainz

Again, anybody that is honest and played both these games on the same HDTV would admit only seeing a marginal difference.

The fact that you are so defensive leads me to believe that you are the fanboy.

You are kidding right??? Seriously...you are kidding right?

When did they allow ignorant people into system wars....oh wait from the beginning.

I'm being honest. Everyone else is rating this game as subjective as possible. Obviously I am one of the only objective viewers in here. Sigh

If we go by technical standards alone, and Gears of War is considered 10/10, I would say Super Mario Galaxy was 6 or 7/10. It's a beautifuly game for sure, and with HD component cables, it's an undeniably good looking game, but it can't compare with the hardware the 360 is packing.

If we were to figure in artistic direction and style, I would say 9/10 or 10/10. What SMG lacks in technical power, it makes up with pure beauty, eye candy, and general goodness. I have to say, I really don't understand the graphics w**res who call SMG a jaggy ugly mess. It truly is an amazing looking game if you factor in its artstyle.

Oh well, I guess some gamers just don't like colorful and stylish games.

SMG has a great art style and thats all that matters, you don't need a game to be photo-realistic to be awesome.

I rate SMG 10/10 for great art style
