Since they are worrying abou the bottom line, if there was no RROD, there would be no 1 billion dollars set aside for repairs, and Microsoft would actually have dropped the price of the 360 earlier, putting them and keeping them ahead of the Wii as the cheapest and best selling console.
I personally believe that if the 360 did not have the RROD, the PS3 would truly be hurting and the Wii would be in second place now.
How many times have people you know, in real life, or on this board or others said "If the 360 was more reliable I'd have one now". I'd need more than my hands and feet to count.
I've had 4x PS2's, 5x PSX's. Sony's failure rate cannot be any worse than Microsofts failure rate.DibdibdobdoboLolz, I've had one PS2 and it's still going strong since 2001. Sounds like you need to stop breaking your toys.
The RROD is one of the many reasons I haven't bought a 360 I could been a mandicore but for every person like me theres a person that already purchased a 360 and purchased it again because they got rrod which helps the 360 sales.
as far as money it's costing m$ billions
So I would say it's not hurting m$ much in the sales of 360s because theirs always a customer willing to buy another one because theirs broke down but it is hurting m$ in the money department making them lose billions
Im sure its already been said somewhere on here...........but, it seems as though it hasnt hurt OR boosted sales.
Many people like myself, refuse to buy one for the fear of it crapping out. And then a lot of people, tons i know actually, will run right to the store and buy a new one if their old one craps out, cause they love it so much.
But it has to hurt Microsoft a bit to have to replace a lot of them, but as far as systems in the stores, looks like they are still selling just fine.
for everybody saying RROD is the reason they wont get a 360 2 word store warranty you just take it in and get a new one if it RROD's, hell if i got a PS3 im damn sure gonna get a store warranty anything over 300$ and im getting the extended warranty

not anymore they currently don't replace 360s if you have a 360 and it craps out on you the 3 year warranty is officially over if a 360 owner has it crap out on them now they officially have to purchase a new 360.
and even back before the warranty ended there was a fee to pay to get it fixed and it didn't include other malfunctions of the 360 like the eo7 error or disk scratching (which involves alot of law suits in california) many 360 owners just bought new ones because theirs rrod on them, besides the warranty.
I wonder how many of 360's sales are repeat buyers after their first 360 died?Nuck81Hopefully very few considering you get a 3 year free replacement from Microsoft.

I don't care about warranty I want to make sure I am not worried every day if the system is going to break on me or if my disk wont scratch and who wants to go through the hasstle of putting it in a box sending it paying the fines and wait 3 weeks for it to arrive, plus m$ don't cover all errors made by the 360.
What m$ needs to do is start fixing the problem and making workable 360s and giving it out to customers who has theirs keep breaking on them, but I bet m$ wont do that it will just probably head to the 720 and abandon the 360.
I have a question if you go out to buy a dvd player or tv at a store and you know the brand they have you hear reports that it keeps breaking and people keep sending it back will you still buy it ?
I doubt it I want to make sure it's reliable.
now I see alot of xbox fans who support m$ after this and use the warranty as a scapegoat and it's basically to me ridicolous it's a faulty product and should not have to break in the first place
I think they have alot even though the problem has been minimized as of late. It left a bad precedent for consumers what do you think?SAR3N
I feel what you are saying, but I think thats why they sell so many......how many people do you know or people you heard about that brought at least 2 360's because there first one went bad. I have 4 homeboys that brought at least 1 more to replace there old ones.

Once again why would they all buy new ones when the old ones were fixed for free? It's never the normal PS3 fans with stories like these, it's always from some of the most well known, most biased fans. Are you saying your friends are braindead that they didn't send it in to get fixed for free?[QUOTE="CubanBlunt"][QUOTE="SAR3N"]I think they have alot even though the problem has been minimized as of late. Its a few of them, but try telling a 360 fan that.

I never said they didn't, but not too many do when it gets fixed for free...certainly not a large enough number to really skew things at all. There are a few people who've bought another PS3 also. Keep YOUR biased BS to yourself.[QUOTE="CubanBlunt"][QUOTE="Steppy_76"]Once again why would they all buy new ones when the old ones were fixed for free? It hurted them alot. They would be number one in the hardware sales chart instead of the Wii. I've seen countless people saying that the only thing keeping them away is rrod at any given day. So if there was never rrod the 360 sales number would've doubled.one_on_one
I seriously doubt the 360 would have been ahead if not for rrod the wii is just a phenomenom while the 360 is even with PS3 counting 360s head start.
mostly just hardcore or gamers buy the xbox360/PS3 as for the wii
Moms and Dads who want to play wii fit
little girls who want to play imagine babies and pets
little boys who want to play the conduit, deblob
gamers who grew up with nintendo that want to play mario galaxy and zelda
old ladies and man that want to play wii play
face it wii is like the cell phone most people want one except the hardcores and now wii is getting in that department Dead Rising, Dead Space.
Not to mention that the rrod i believe is actually helping in the sales as more customers are purchasing their xbox 360 again and again

Or, you can just tell MS you have the RROD and they'll fix it for free anyway. They don't check the systems they receive, they just fix them.
And seriously, do you honestly think the majority of people who encounter the RROD are buying new systems to replace their old ones instead of getting it fixed for free and saving a couple hundred dollars? Really? :|
