How can any serious gamer have any respect for nintendo?

The PS3 and wii launched simultaneously in november 2006.The wii has since had 19 games rated 80%+ on gamerankings whereas the PS3 has 43 games rated 80%+.The xbox 360 has 95 games rated 80%+ although it did have a year on both other consoles.

Ironically both sony and microsoft struggle with losses on their gaming divisions from time to time whereas nintendo continues to enjoy huge profits while having not much for the traditional gamer.

So I shouldn't have respect for Nintendo because other developers make crap games on their system while there first and second party titles are typically of the utmost quality? I have all three consoles and I'm personally not feeling like the Wii has an inferior library as I don't go by ratings, I go by what I enjoy playing, and my Wii library is biggest.

So many people own and love the Wii it is difficult to bring up any criticisms without getting your face raped.

I don't think that Nintendo cares that much about this thing called "respect" that you seem to believe is a valuable thing. The only thing Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft ultimately care about is the money that are put into their coffers.

Lol. Really? I'm not sure if you consider me a "serious" gamer, but I've been playing since the Atari 2600 days. First of all, Nintendo saved the industry after the video game crash. Also, every console I've owned since the Atari was nothing more than a graphics upgrade. The Wii is the first console that actually did something different.

No, I wouldn't have the Wii as my primary console (I own a Wii, 360, and PS3), but it's an awesome console none the less. You're right though, the Wii is getting a lot of shovelware. Gamers know though to look for reviews and word-of-mouth to find the diamonds in the rough.

But the fact is that both sony and microsofts current business plans towards gaming is in my interest whereas nintendo's could hamper it very well.

No, I respect Nintendo for trying something completely different this generation and having it pay off with games like Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, and Metroid Prime 3.

it's not all nintendo's fault that the wii has few great games

they games they've released have been okay .. some casual-friendly like wii fit that i'm not into, but they've still released zelda TP, MP3, SMG, SSBB and Mario Kart Wii .. and they'll continue to release games from their key franchises that serious gamers love
