How can any serious gamer have any respect for nintendo?

The reason behind PS3 having more high rated games is because most of those PS3 games are multi-platform. I can respect Nintendo through the games they make. I just dislike their cocky attitude.dracula_16

That's what the freaking problem is; see, nintendo keeps using the same freaking strategy al the damn time. They make new consoles with some "Smoke Sensitve" innovation crap, and them release it with some Mario the Fireman launch title. You're really mistaking the difference between innovation and gimmicks. Don't you see the pattern? They drop a couple mario and zelda games and probably throw in a metroid prime(which is the only game I would ever touch on a nintendo system) title and soon as that settles, it's another new console.

What about all of the good games? Using Gamespot, or gamerankings or metacritic, between the Wii and PS2, which had the better games? It's not hard to do a little research, before going out and buying a game, to find out which ones are good and which ones aren't.

And this is no different from the Wii. Not that hard to do some research to find what games would be suited to you. And comparing the PS2 to the Wii is silly. How much LONGER has the PS2 been out than the Wii?

Yes, but at least the PS2 had the great games to make up for it. A lot more than the Wii. I know the PS2 has been out much longer, so the Wii has plenty of time to catch up, but at the moment, nope. The Wii still has to get those stellar games, and hopefully from more third party developers so others can follow. Nintendo seems to be the only ones pumping them out at the moment. They both have shovelware, yes, I get that, and the PS2 had more....agh forget it. *tosses PS2 out the window*.

And that's exactly what it is called a "generation". A group of similar things (like gaming devices) that came out at about the same essence of time. You are just traying to do some damage control to the fact that the Wii is the best selling console thise gen. All the fanboys already admitted that, you should do the same. It's just an advice, if you wish you can keep on living in that fantasy bubble of yours.

as a Australian, who gets Wii games MONTHS after the USA, i must say, i barley have any respect for nintendo.

They have shook the gaming market. Thousands more people are now into gaming thatnks to nintnedo. Yes the 3rd party games are not great but the first party games are. they have brought loads of people into gaming that would never have done otherwise.

PLUS they have radiclly changed how the future of gaming will be. Microsoft and Sony are now developing motion sensing controls, with rumors of MS releasing theirs this christmas.

Now I am sure some of you think this is bad but if we had motion sensing controls on a 360, with an FPS game that would be amazing. Its one step closer to the whole VR thing everyone wants gaming to get to one day. It may not seem like much but done right this will make games buch better and may steer development into other ways of making games more immersive.

How can you NOT respect nintendo.
