This game is downright beautiful and the performance is rock solid. A huge upgrade over the original, even if it's just a face lift. I say it's worth a second purchase. Definitely up there with other remasters like Metro and GTA V. What say you, SW?

@Blabadon: Probably should save your money, unless you can't go on with your life without playing it on a PS4.
Because it probably should have been a PS4 launch title, but instead took a lot of people for $120 and really didn't improve anything beyond graphics despite being a $60 "remaster".
It's a great game but I want the remaster model to die. Square has been abusing the ever loving shit out of it, although I suppose that's all they can do when their new releases suck so much dick compared to an easily portable catalog of superior games.

Um excuse me Square isn't remastering games, they have integrity, so they are way lazier than that. They just straight port an old game to a new device and call it a day.
Well it barely improves over the original and while the remaster doubles the frame rate, it does seem to have more noticeable graphical glitches. Still a great game, but I only have the remaster because there's no way right now to get a PS4 without also getting that game.

I wouldnt say the remake is up there with those games as far as the effort that went into the remake, but i do agree that it is an amazing game.
Im towards the end of it now and i cant wait to replay it. It has tons of replay value because the fights and stealth play out differently depending on how you play.
The 30fps gameplay is solid but the 60fps mode has dips throughout. Graphically it isnt pushing boundaries but the art direction is top of the line. They use of colors and contrast is just amazing. GTA V..........almost everything has be touched up from the NPCs to even the side streets. Even rooftops and engines have been improved.

They did remaster ff10. But right on, they're too lazy to do that even most of the time.
It just sets a bad precedent for the entire industry to follow, especially devs like square that now have a fraction of the talent they once possessed under their belt.
@ReadingRainbow4: You also have to give them credit for Kingdom Hearts HD too. They had to remake the Original Assets for that game from Scratch because the Original Assets were lost.
Their DLC is atrocious... I could care less if they have pre-set classes for the guns and perks... charging for class custimization without the ability of unlocking these items via in-game is pretty bad p2w. (Guns could be "balanced" but still doesn't exclude the fact that they're barring them to only those that are willing to pay.)
Now aside from that... game is great. Though I paid 24$ for it not the 50$? it was at launch. (50$ for a year remaster is a joke... so is 24$... but to me that was the amount I got for selling the PS3 version.)
NO hate, I just played it a while ago on my PS3. I'm not buying it again unless it's just dirt cheap. Same with GTA--I'm not buying a game that I've already played. Only game I'm like that with is Street Fighter.
I didn't like the game to begin with personally. But i am guessing the Last of Us had a massive budget and probably still needed to make more money from the game. I honestly think we can expect to see more remasters like that.
Solid needs to stop riding Naughty Dogs dick for a week
but then how would we know that UC2 is the best game with the best sound track, etc
I said a week. He needs a rest to get ready to tell us how amazing Uncharted 4 is, including the soundtrack.

He'll just spend that week talking about PSN sales and vita "exclusives"...and then complaining about people who say lolvita
So which one is it - does frame rate not matter, or is frame rate so important you're willing to repurchase a game for another $60?
That was the funny part to me. Like, that's the only incentive to buy the game AGAIN? It looks better? I'll pass.
One word: FLOP.
A remastered FLOP at that!
Know what also flopped?
Toad Flop Tracker
TLOU is the best flop.

I can't believe that I have to type this for a third time because this site is a glitch mess.
The GTA5 remaster comes with new content. 162 new radio songs (which practically doubles the original size of the playlist), updated graphics with better details, more pedestrians and more traffic, herbs that you can find in the wilderness that temporarily turn you into a random animal, and a First-Person mode that I have heard people say makes it feel like a whole new game.

Tell you the truth, I've kinda stuck with my "I'm not buying a game that I've played before" stance. Thank you for this--this makes it a little different. I've seen the first person mode etc, but I'm usually into the story more than anything. It DOES factor though that they did add so much to it.
It's among the very best games I played last gen, and has one of the greatest stories I've seen in a game before. It definitely deserves all the praise it gets but I think the vacuum of high-quality PS4 exclusives is causing people to trash on stuff we normally wouldn't care about, like remasters. For TLOU it was very justifiable that it got ported to PS4 since it was released on PS3 a few months before the PS4's launch.

This game was announced for PS3 well before the PS4 was unveiled. Sony did what was in their best interest by releasing it on the console that had the largest install base.

Yes, but it would have been a surefire way to guarantee the PS4's winning of this gen.
I found TLOU to be very boring just like everything ND release and well it is a remaster version of a 1 years old game ... It isn't a port for next gen no it is a remastered version.
If they at least remaster old games like maybe Crash Bandicoot, noooo a one years old game and at the moment they did it the game wasn't even one years old ! what a joke.
60 fps and 1080 and better visual don't change the boring game play and corridor fest it is. People wined about Final Fantasy XIII to be a corridor fest but this one get a free pass because it is made by ND whatever.
To troll.
It's that simple.
It's a superb game, and bringing it to ps4 allows those that didn't /don't have a ps3 to enjoy it. Not to mention the countless others that enjoy it's multiplayer "myself included". The whole forcing people to pay 60 again is a farce.
TLoU: R is one of the worst remasters I've ever seen, and I say that as a diehard fan that loves the game to death (it's in my top 5, which is why the remaster release upsets me so). It's easy to see it was rushed, and is far too buggy to be acceptable. These are not just superficial bugs either, they extend to impact the gameplay. A.I. oftentimes is alerted through walls, scripting sometimes fails to execute, there's gamma issues, etc.
It is much more unpolished than the PS3 version, even though it has better fidelity and framerate. People don't need to reach to criticize this re-release ("milking, blah blah blah" etc.)......any valid grounds for criticism are right there plain to see. Anyone who says it's great has just not played the game enough, or if they have, are blind or willingly ignorant of its technical flaws. The game deserved better.
