I mean first of all it's a FREE download available to all PS3 users.

It has EVERYTHING xbox live has +more, in a way more attractive, fun, and interactive way.

Text with an avatar vs. A virtual world!

I just don't understand why people don't think this is cool!

EDIT: Also look at these graphics! It rivals retail games!

Meh, I prefer for people to judge me off of what I say, not how I look (both in RL and in some virtual reality). But I agree that home is very attractive.

I wouldn't say that if it wasn't free

People view it as a rip of other virtual life games when Home is intended for something different. Yes you do have your own home with crap in it but it provides an innovative way for parties to meet up and jump into Warhawk or CoD4 together.

Supposedly spring. Some day I'm going to turn on my PS3 and it'll say "update required" and then after all the bs I'll go back to the XMB and see an icon for Home probably.

text and voice chat...yet voice capable mics aren't a stantard on the ps3....hmmm

Its an xbox live rip off with an 2nd life coating...and not only that if its to be believed xbox universe or whatever it was called which was in dev by microsoft and which was basically home...and was in dev like years ago means this is a rip off of that.

Oh i have no problem with admiting that if the stars align and enough prayers and sacrafices are given up to satan then home will be better then xbox live from the start. (laughs)

But we have a track record at sony where they online functionality EVEN now is the pits, the only thing they have going for them is dedicated servers on games and even then its a crap shoot because people still report instances of lag and sony still has problems with providing enough servers for people i mean hell resistance and warhawk both had problems of waiting in line 15 minutes just to play a game and thats with only what 1-2 million users online at that time?

(if you bring up the xbox live down time then your a fool, they have 10 million users and something like 1-2 million signed up over the holiday)

But cows cant admit that its a rip off and a 2nd life coating they like to say oh its totally original and will be better from day one when its released then xbox live.

I think when cows start admiting its a rip off with a 2nd life coating then other forms of fanboys will start admitting the service will be good.

P.S: i own an ps3, wii and 360 and will download and play home....so there ya go;)

There is a neat video on the PS Store, it's of the beta build, so the graphics don't look as sharp, but it explains what Home is all about.

So one of my questions is how are they delivering HOME?

Is it gonna be packaged in with a firmware update (please god, beacuse this is the correct way to do it) or are all PS3 users going to have to go to the PSN store and download it?

It'll probably be with a firmware update like Folding@Home was. That way the icon is always there.

Uh... how could you NOT say something negative about it?

I'd rather have a menu driven online service then Second Life. Avatars are just a waste of time when trying to get into a game.

Ok the whole second life comparisons are getting a little old. Do some research on Home before you compare the two. Also this is what Second Life looks like...

Eh, im still not sold, i guess it depends how they handle it. Honostly, i dont know anyone else on PSN, and im not a very social internet butterfly, so you can see how this lacks appeal for me. That and showing off my virtual room to my friends...just sounds lame. Not to mention I'll be damned before i pay for useless addons, people already complain about the cost of live! I understand the appeal, as many games are built on the same sort of interactivity,at least with games like the sims, the user genereated content can be downloaded for free, and you only pay for the games or the expansions. Id prefer that sort of system, as I dont like being nickled and dimed to death for stuff that really has no effect on any of my games.

On a side note, i really wonder how their going to deliver "shared music and movies" when obviously this creates many legal questions of protected content and piracy.

All im saying is if this was on Xbox 360 it would all of a sudden be the greatest thing in the world! How can you even compare a tiny picture with a gamerscore next to it against a virtual avatar that you can make look like yourself in your own home, with virtual trophies you can actually interact with. Not just a number with text next to it.

Hell freakin' no I wouldn't want to. I want to just open up a menu and click there name to go into a game. I couldn't care less about having an avatar or walking around a virtual room filled with virtual ads and virtual furniture and crap. That has absolutely nothing to do with games.

If I wanted to hang out with my friends at a mall, we'd go to a dang mall. Seeing as how I hate malls, I also hate virtual malls. It's a stupid idea and I hope to god that Sony offers an alternative to people that couldn't give have a crap about HOME.

Home will be interesting. Might bring a whole new experience to online gaming.

Also what the TC forgot to mention about home is all the developers are creating their own "rooms" or "places" in home. Like the Gran Turismo building or the Resistance room. Basically a themed room with info and videos about the game.

Another thing that would be awesome, is that during E3, they could create a E3 room where you can walk around and browse the latest games, try the newest demos and look at the screenshots, just like you were there.

There are lots of possibilities with Home.

Well if Home is supposedly Sony's answer to XBL, then I'd love to see what the other options for the PS3 are. If I decide to pass on home, what else can I get? The current online features? Yeah... great.

Your opinion is not everyone else's. I don't care for it because it focuses on the social interaction of virtual characters, in virtual environments, when it could instead be focusing on providing a fast, efficient service that groups players together who want to play games. Who wants to walk their virtual character to a gaming area just to start a matchmaking service? Wouldn't you rather just want to get into a game at the press of a button? If you want to socially interact with people why don't you just use a messenging service? I suppose the idea of having your own virtual pad sounds kind of cool, but there really isn't much to do with it really, unless you expect dozens of people to "hang out" through their PS3's and stare at a TV screen, painstakingly type what they want to say, and drink virtual alcoholic beverages. It's not that its a bad thing, but there are other better ways to interact than Home.

It does sound great, but it could take a year or so after release to become well refined. These things just don't come out perfectly.

Well Altho im looking forward toward Home and its pritty much FTW you did how ever bring up good questions, it would be nice to not have to go into Home just to hop into a friends game maybe Sony is or could work on somthing taht you could just use to join a friends game from you XMB without havn to go into Home because it would be kinda lame to have to boot up home then find your friend click join game you see, i hope home isnt the only way to join into a friends game because altho i love everything about Home lets face it that would suck!!!! Home better be a fun way to do things and XMB works too

......they will already have that.....they are still gonna keep the friends list in xmb and u will get to join games with them even without home.....we will also have in-game xmb soon.

home is just a interactive virtual world that lets u meet, greet, and have fun with other people. Plus u get to customize ur house, add music to ur stereo inside ur house so other people can listen, minigames including pool, bowling, arcade games, and basket ball...Theres even MORE stuff u can do....like sony said theres no limit what can be done in home.

In the beta the whole fix up your character was pritty good i mean customisation was great i liked it alot and we can only expect a ton more from the full version because in the beta you cant get Tvs or radios yet just a few couches a trophy here and there and 1 table + 3 picture frames so we can expect a lot when the final version is done
