You're replacing reviewers' opinions with that of one's own. Like reviews are even fair anymore with reviews running on a 7/10 scale.

razgriz_101

ok then,

PC exclusives >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>console exclusives by miles, because this is my opinion( i don't like to play games that are like interactive movies, extremely linearand scripted, 25-30fps, controller, super low resolutions AA, small fov etc).

but opinions is SW doesn't matter, only facts are important.

and the facts is that PC have more AAAE, AAE, and AE exclusives than consoles

the simple irony and ignorance in that statement is beyond any magnitude we usually see on here and hermits call other people ignorant pot does really call the kettle blakc in this situation.

Ace combat 6,Demons souls,Forza 3 theres 3 games that dont suffer from the interactive movie syndrome actually theres very little "interactive movies",Linearity exists in PC gaming altho hermits will dismiss it when the arguement is given and the same goes for scripted events strangely they exist in PC exclusives aswell shock bloody horror.

You know very well that most of console exclusives are like that on the other hand PC exclusives are not like that.

Define "big." Do you mean games with multi-million dollar budgets, games that receive excessive marketing, or games with quality that cannot be defined by budget? Every system, including PC, consoles, handhelds, and possibly now mobile systems, have games that fit in these categories. Specifically talking about PC, I can name games that can fit in each of these categories.

I'm going to assume that your question involves being aware of the game's existance. Just because some games aren't posted in a magazine or played on TV does not mean that they do not exist. Though it requires a little effort to learn about them, finding about them is as simple as a Google search.

Piracy also can't be used as a reason as to why you are not aware about some games. I'm not downplaying or defending piracy, but rather saying that it hasn't stopped or scared developers from releasing games on PC. If anything, the number of developers on PC have grown over the years.

I'll also assume that when you say "big," you are referring to the action-adventure genre, which is hot right now. Action-adventure isn't the only "big" genre. First person shooters, third-person shooters, adventure, platformers, real-time strategy, fighters, racers, and RPGs are some other big games, all of which can be found on either PC or console. This area is mainly based around on opinion, but just because someone dislikes a genre does not mean that it is not big.

Also, you must not even play any console games if that's what you think console games are.

I play both console games and PC games (hell I just got done playing a match in HoN) and the only thing that matters is my opinion because simply I enjoy console exclusives more... not what some game advertising passed off as journalism thinks.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]GAMES console vs. personal computer. Which one was made for games, I wonder...Ly_the_Fairy

Uh yeah, that's not why the big games tend to be on consoles.

The big games tend to be on the consoles because Sony and MS throw hundreds of millions of dollars into funding the games so their consoles can stand out, and sell.

PC still has a huge lead when it comes to quality games being released for it.

Why are all the best games on consoles? Is it because developers are worried that they wont sell well on pc? I guess because of the piracy problems. Dont get me wrong i know pc has alot of good games but it seems that they are too few and far apart. Edit: i meant big games not best, pc seems to have 1 big game a yearStevelovessony

bf3, diablo 3, deus ex3, skyrim, cod mw3(dry heave), there arent that many more big games comin out that arent on pc as well...sooo yeah...not seeing ur point here

PC is the soul of gaming.

Games are made on PCs, and pretty much all devs start there.

Maybe, but it doesn't seem to translate into sales, so thats why companies may focus more on console games, vs their pc counterparts.

Is it cause we don't got scripted explosions and cutscenes going on every 10 seconds :(

NoodleFighter
i hate it man. i hate that games on PC actually challenge you and require attention, instead of giving me cliche cutscenes all the time. which is why i dont understand the whole uncharted humping deal. the entire time, i felt like i was watching a michael bay movie with jaggies everywhere. it didnt even feel like i was playing the game, tbh. which is why PC games pull ahead, imo. unscripted environments that actually give you much more excitement than a cutscene-filled cliche campaign. some developers don't have to rely on that crud to make an experience, which makes them stand out from the rest. GSC, i'm looking at you.

AdrianWerner

It's not an opinion. it's flat out lie. Now whether profits/sales of individual games are bigger on PC or consoles is a whole different thing, but it's simply an undisputable fact that far more people game on PC than on consoles.

Show me the proof, that's why I said it was a opinion. How can a opinion be a lie? Out of all the people that I know, or associate with, there may be 1 or 2 that game on a pc, while the rest either game on a console, or don't game at all. So I am basing my judgement on what I see, yet it is a opinion. This last line was enjoyable," but it's simply an undisputable fact that far more people game on PC than on consoles." Hm, can't use UNDISPUTED if it can be disputed.

That may be. I'm just going by what I see and interact with on a day to day basis. I'm sure the PC is the more powerful machine, far more capable than the other 3 consoles, but almost everyone I know, or interact with either games on a console, or doesn't game at all, with the rare few that do game on a pc. I'm not knocking it, and I would like to get a gaming PC hopefully in the very near future, I'm just going by what I see.

Yes you did. You're assuming that people like what reviewers like which is hardly the case anymore.

And yes while I agree with you that in those regards pc exclusives are better that has nothing to do with the actual content of the game.

Mods, higher res, graphics and freedom to play with w/e are great, which is why I am slowly but surely moving my multiplat collection to PC but as far as actual quality of the games goes I prefer console exclusives over PC.

PC gaming to me is superior in every way imaginable but its exclusives. That is purely an opinion and you can't really factually prove that one game is better than another.

Legend of Zelda, Uncharted, Wipeout, Metal Gear Solid, Tales of Vesperia, Valkryia Chronicles, Heavy Rain, Alan Wake, Super Mario Galaxy.... those to me are much better games than PC exclusives...

I still do enjoy me some LoL (most played game this gen) and StarCraft 2 (one of very few games that make me think) but because of the aforementioned games that is something that consoles will always have over PC. Of course that's my opinion and there are sure to be plenty of folks who prefer PC exclusives over console ones.

It can't. What you said wasn't an opinion, it was just a lie. You cannot state wrong facts and then hide behind the claim you're just stating your opinion. You could just as well defend statemements like "Earth is flat" by claiming this is just your own opinion

The data shows there are over 300 mln pcgamers worldwide. This number alone dwarfs anything consoles could ever dream about.

Consoles are popular only in few selected richest countries on Earth, everywhere else pc rules supreme.

Basically due to piracy, companies have found out they can make alot more on consoles. So they hype and advertise, put out their "big name games" for console. PC still gets some quality stuff, but those games don't have the same hype and "star power" as big name console games like Gears 3 and such. Comfort is a perfectly valid argument. Sitting at a couch playing PC feels just as unnatural as sitting at a desk to play a console. The coolest thing about being a console gamer is you discover there are operating systems other than Windows out there, and you no longer have a 45 pound hunk of metal sitting on your desk. Can have a nice elegant netbook and alot of clear office space. Go sit in your cozy couch when you want to play. Feels good to kick Microsoft out of my house finally. PS3 + Linux + Android

Did you read my post? I said I "think" there are more console gamers out there then PC gamers, which is a opinion! It seems like some PC gamers get so upset if you don't agree with them that they have the dominant gaming device, or that it is the only true way to game? I'm pretty sure you represent a small portion of PC gamers, and all are not as PC boastful as yourself. I'll game on any platform, but just because you called me a liar isn't going to change my "opinion" on the number of console gamers vs pc gamers Dexter.

Maybe, but it doesn't seem to translate into sales, so thats why companies may focus more on console games, vs their pc counterparts.

That only comes down to the big budget developers who are selling games to the American audience.

PC is making more money globally. The only difference is that the PC is made up of hundreds of small devs around the world who are making games which go on to sell maybe even only 100,000 copies if they're lucky, but it's still profitable to them, and that's why they can remain in business.

Very rare do PC companies have breakthrough hits. The only ones I can really think of this gen (in terms of exclusives) would be games like The Witcher which sold around 2 million, or the STALKER series which sold 4 million, or Minecraft which I think has sold 3 million. Of course there are companies like Blizzard and Valve which will always sell millions on the PC.

But even still many of the big companies still put out exclusives on the PC. Sega publishes/develops PC exclusive games, Ubisoft publishes/develops PC exclusive games, EA publishes/develops PC exclusive games, and 2k does. Heck, even Microsoft and Sony do!

However, these companies that employ 5,000+ people across all their divisions can't survive off of just PC sales because the PC market is so spread out, and so diverse. They have to create guaranteed hits, and they have to put it on a platform they can advertise for which is the consoles. It's much harder to advertise a PC game because 90% of people don't own a gaming ready pc, or have no clue if they do.

But I don't mind really. The PC will always be home of the most exclusives, and the birthplace of new developers. Most people's favorite developers of today such as Epic, or Naughty Dog, or Bungie, or Bioware were all PC (Mac in Bungie's case) exclusive at one point till they got so big they had to spread to consoles, but they were replaced by an influx of new devs like CD Projekt Red, or GSC who, in the upcoming years, will put their games on the consoles as well, and then new developers will take their place. It's a never -ending cycle, but it's one of the great things about PC imo. There's just always a new wave of talent coming into the spotlight, and always fresh experiences to be had.

Understood. I'm no expert in the matter and I'm just going by what I see, and read on a day to day basis. Its nice to have someone respond with intelligence, instead of insults, which really shows there maturity. Gaming is gaming, so I welcome it all, I just feel like there are some PC loyalists(Dexter) who will go above and beyond to try and shove what they believe to be the holy grail of gaming. I plan on getting a gaming rig here in the next 4-6 months, depending on my currency, so I'm not against it, It's just that everyone I'm around, or interact with games on a console.

Before people say it's piracy and all that crap I'd like to point out all the exclusives on PC are third party devs and I doubt devs like CD Projekt, Blizzard, Dice, are making there games multiplat cause of piracy.

Now look at consoles they most of their big budgets simply because the developers are under the wings of Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo or the developer is simply making console only multiplats. Take away first party binding from your devs and lets see how quickly they flock to multiplat development.

Another thing PC devs are doing fine with what they spend, for people who cry we can't support themby blurting out Crysis, Crysis simply wasn't a well optimized and scalable game. Sales increased when newer hardware came out over the years and considering it sold $1 million is lucky for Crytek.

Most big games are multiplat now because they are very expensive to make and to make the most it only makes sense to make it available to as many as possible.

Why are all the best games on consoles? Stevelovessony
Because they aren't, that's why. Guild Wars 2 and The Witcher 2 say hello as does the rest of the awesome PC exclusives that you obviously know nothing about seeing you think consoles have all the good games and PC doesn't.

They might be on a console but that damn well doesn't mean they'll be best played on console. Just take a look at Deus Ex HR to know exactly what I mean. It's definitely not best played on PS3 or 360. It's best played on PC! :D

And you know that Skyrim won't be best played on console!

Which ones? How come I've seen so many companies like Pandemic, Free Radical, and Bizarre Creations fail this gen? I mean console games sell so well these companies should have stayed afloat right?

Being a console game doesn't just guarantee millions of sales. In fact there's only a handful of companies (excluding first party) out there who can pull off millions of sales with each game they make such as Ubisoft, EA, Activision, and 2K, but you want to know what's funny about those companies? They don't make console exclusives, but they do make PC exclusives

Are you serious? I don't think either should be exclusive. Just spread the wealth. There is money to be made across every platform, heck, if they released games on the Dreamcast I would still buy them.lol

Because consoles have become a lot more mainstream, which has helped decrease the quality of the games... I'm sure there are plenty of good games on PC, just because it doesn't get as much hype doesn't mean a thing.

Games such as:

  • EA - Sims Medieval, Darkspore
  • Activision/Blizzard - Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft
  • Ubisoft - Cliffs of Dover, Silent Hunter series, Heroes of Might and Magic, The Settlers 7, etc (they actually put out a lot of PC exclusives)
  • 2k - Civilization

And to add two more

  • THQ published the STALKER series
  • Sega - Total War, Football Manager (though there are handheld versions of this game that are stripped down. The console versions were discontinued a few years ago due to lack of sales)

All exclusives, and these are companies that DO NOT make exclusives for the consoles, and not only that they are also HUGE companies in the industry.

So yes I am serious. Like I said consoles are not "guaranteed" money otherwise the support for consoles would absolutely dwarf PCs, but it doesn't. In fact the PC is supported far more heavily than any console can even dream of.

Games sell more on Consoles. There, I said it. I'm sure most were thinking it, just wouldn't say it.

I wasn't thinking it because the argument just doesn't hold up.

If consoles sold more games then why would the PC get games at all? Why does the PC have the most games being released for it?

Developers need money to survive right? And higher sales mean more money right? So why doesn't every single dev drop PC support, and go to consoles?

And as I mentioned in this thread why is it that nearly every single big publisher in the industry puts out PC exclusive games, but never any console exclusives? How come Sony and Microsoft are releasing PC exclusives?

PC gaming is far more popular globally than console gaming.

topgunmv
This. AFAIK, console gaming hype seems to be focused mainly in areas like North America, UK, Australia and Japan.

Certain games sell more, absolutely. Assuming all do would just be asinine.
