If there was no exclusives...what would be the reason to buy the wii, ps3, or xbox?

There would be a monopoly in the gaming industry and charge whatever the heck they want for the one console.

I don't brag about exclusives, but I get the console where the exclusives seem the most fun for me. Which is why I own a ps3 because GT5, 3D Dot, Motorstorm, Modnation, LPB all gave me great experiences where I wouldn't find on any other console. Which what makes each console unique.

The reason I got a Wii is because of Metroid Prime, Super Smash, and the New Super Mario Bros. Why? Because they offered me a great experience on the Wii that I can't find on the PS3 or 360.

Same goes for owning a 360 console. Sad to say though I haven't had enough exclusive games to try other than Halo for me to properly judge the 360.

Depending on which console has the best hardware, the best interface, which I think the Wii has none of those things.

Exclusivity doesn't make a game better, but the better games are all exclusive.Pug-Nasty

True. Though there are times when some exclusives suck...

Exclusivity makes games in general better, as resources do not need to be divided into multiple platforms, therefore increasing production values.
And if there were no exclusives, what would be the point in buying different consoles, if they all played the same thing.

360 and PS3 are too close for me to really want both unless there are some games I want on one that the other doesn't provide. But back in the SNES/Genesis days, multiplats & exclusives, didn't matter so much. I usually felt the SNES version was so much better than the Genesis version of the game, that it didn't matter if it was exlusive or not. But then again, I couldn't play Sonic series, Phantasy Star, Sword of Vermillion, etc. on my SNES, so I would lose out if I didn't get a Genesis too (and thankfully I did).

Unless there's a huge, noticable difference in power, then usually it's the exclusives that set'em apart. For me in the older days, there usually was, and those exclusives were nice too.

Xbox 360 gamer: "I have 20 games to play this year, and 2 of them are built with my system's strengths in mind!"

PS3 gamer: "I have 40 games to play this year, and 20 of them are built with my system's strengths in mind!"

Which one seems better?Mrmccormo

Quality >>>> Quantity. Plus if anyone here thinks that MS is just going to sit back with little to no exclusivity for their system because of Kinect, then I just got to laugh.

actually if you want the best exclusives - to me that is a reason to game on the PC. I do use my PC the most but I also enjoy having a console available for some of the games that I got for it. a lot a lot of the really good games last gen were only on PS2 and not the PC - this time around there are fewer really good games that I can't get on PC. still gonna be some gaming on the consoles but for cost - you can get a decent PC for about the same as a 360 or PS3 since the prices came down on all of the systems. ( I don't need one that will run Crysis on max settings - and I am not going to pay extra for a pretty box - I won't name the brands that applies to, but most people know them)

No, I understand why Sony and Microsoft would make a point out of having exclusive titles for their systems, but what the gamers get out of this I don't get.outatime557
To make sure you made the right decision? Or at least to have an opinion of which one you prefer? Being the devil's advocate is fun at times, but exclusives are always a plus (assuming the game is of good quality, of course).

I guess people feel like it justifies them buying a particular system rather than another.

If I have one system why would I buy another if I can get all the same games on that other system without any new games.

Exclusives don't matter if your only going to buy one system.

If you buy more then one system Exclusives are the most important thing because then you are only looking at games that aren't on the system you already own as an incentive to buy that other system.

That's where the term fanboy comes into place. They are fans, they like something in particular. But when they take it into dubious routes that's when it mixes with boy and havoc for all logic is for grabs.

It doesn't make the game better in most cases, it makes the system better. I own both the XBOX360 and PS3 and I expect them both to have their fair share of exclusive titles. Other than that, there wouldn't much point of multiple systems existing along side eachother anyway if they all offered the exact same thing. I care because competition helps the gaming industry.

Why would you care if the game is only for the system(s) you own? Does that make the game more fun?outatime557
No. It just means that the system has a game that you enjoy and no other system has it.
