The Gamecube was $200 when it came out, it didn't sell nearly as well as the Wii is. There is obviously something else going on. And if the consumer were getting ripped off they wouldn't be buying it. They are obviously buying it because they want to.
And gimmicks only last for so long... just like the DS right? And there are tons of games coming to the Wii, if you actually took the time to look at a few of the non-"Mario and Nintendogs" games you would realise this fact. But obviously, your outlook would prevent you from seeing any qualities in titles you may not enjoy.
Life sucks to be a fanboy of any nature. Being blinded by brand loyalty and limiting oneself to only a handful of gaming experiences.
Why do people always say price? The Gamecube was 99 bucks and it lost HORIBLY! Price is a matter, but thats FAR from the case. You want to know why its winning? Because it has games like Zelda, Red Steel, and RE4 that bring in the teen-mature, it has Party games to bring in the casuals, and it has Brain Acadamy to bring in the non gamers. There really is no market that the Wii has not touched. And then there is Wii sports which is pretty much universal.

Because the bulk of the 360's best games are all shooters. Even games that aren't straight shooters, like Bioshock and Mass Effect, just went ahead and put shooting into the core gameplay. If you're not a shooter fan, then there's not really a point in owning a 360, unless you just have to play Forza.

Even though people will argue against it up and down, it's true. Just off the top of my head the only real "casual" games I can think of is Viva Pinata and Kameo. And it's been about 20 months.

I don't buy this, $300 core X360 is just as good of a price as a $250 Wii when you more than likely have to buy another $60 controller for the Wii anyways.
Let's see MS drop the price by $50, I bet the sales remain unchanged. The Wii is just hyped like tickle me Elmo and people buy it without thinking what they hell they plan to do with it once they have it.

The gameplay is new and revolutionary and gamers of all kinds want to try it out. The price is great and it doesn't seem like a gamble to try some thing new. You can't go wrong with Nintendo classics either.
The Wii is a cheap gimmick and when people figure out it has crap for games then they will buy a real game console like the first Xbox which is more powerful.

There is a major difference in price of 250 and 400. The price of a blu-ray player pretending to be a video game machine at 600 is just asking not to be bought except for by people like you , unless of course wifey won't let you - lol

I don't think no one would ridicule Cows for admitting the PS3 is pricey.
Blu-Ray makes cost of the PS3 skyrocket where benefits out weigh the cost. Wii and 360 doesn't have any useless hardware.
360 won't lose its lead to Wii this year. Halo 3 will prevent that. However,here is the pathetic truth. 360 sales would be MUCH LOWER if the failure rate wasn't 30%. Think of all the refurbished 360s and replacements people have bought. Without that, the Wii would already be winning...
