People need to justify what they spend their money on by arguing I guess. I have zero problems with PSN, but when it goes down for a few hours every few months the lems come out of the woodwork and say "you get what you pay for". Most of my friends have PS3s so I spend the most of my time there and Im sure that is a big reason for people prefering XBL as well.

For me, literally the only thing that makes it better is the cross-game party chat, (even though it's been horribly broken for me and my friends for the past week) and being able to launch directly into the game with your friends. All of my friends have XBL which makes it a better choice for online-focused games. Otherwise I don't give a rats ass about any of the other features it has that PSN doesn't, and PSN is free.

I get 85 octane unleaded for free. Dave pays $2 a gallon for 92 octane unleaded. The 85 octane I use is all that my car needs to have plenty of power and run, but Dave tells me it's worth paying for the 92 octane. Is he right? I don't think so, do you?

I played on Xlive for 3 years. I know what I'm talking about, plus I know many Xlive gamers that have told me they like it because that's where their friends play.

live is not better then psn but it dose have some features that the psn dosent have and the only one i can think of is the cross game voice chat they make a big deal about it and i guess you can download Demos, DLC etc.. faster. takes me about 10-30 min to download a demo on the PSN but it used to be really bad at the begining

Well, considering it costs $50 a year, I bet a lot of people would be pissed if it wasn't better.

This is pretty much it. My friends have it so I have it. Like I said, the only actual hard feature that edges PSN out, to me, is party chat.

It takes me about 5-15 mins. It has a lot to do with your ISP speed.

Some people enjoy paying 50 bucks a year to unlock a feature in all their games that they are supposedly already paying for in the sixty dollar price tag. When multiplats like MW2 are released and you literally have an entire console playing the same game for FREE and another paying for it...well thats just down right lunacy. What really boils my noodle is that when you stop paying for live that one feature in all your games is dead forever.

In my experience (I own a PS3, my friends own 360).. The 360's interface and XBL in general is superior in just about every way to PSN.. And the cost of it is negligent.. Its roughly around $3 a month if you get 12 month cards from Amazon. I never seen anything out of the ordinary, both of them could have lag.. Its just XBL is far more stream lined, has far more features, way better interface in things like the live arcade where I can actually look at screenshots, videos, and just about 99% of every game has a trial.. the Playstation store rarely ever have demos, videos of it.. Often times you have to go online to do it.. The one thing I like more about the PS3 is the fact it has a Internet explorer on it.

I play on both and don't notice a difference, other than more lag on live. but that's just because the games I play on xbox are peer to peer, and the ones I play on PS3 have servers.

I've played Halo 3 on Live and played Uncharted 2 on PSN. I had just as much fun playing both. Don't know why one game charged me 3 bucks a month for a feature that came in the game. This is as bad as unlocking DLC that's already on the disc.

While its the exact opposite for the PS3 where 70% do not have mics of any kind..

Except it isn't $50 a years.. Its around $36 to even $30 a year depending if Amazon is on a deal right now.. If your wasting money on the plan they offer you direclty from the Xbox360 your ripping your self off.. You can get a gold 12 month card for as little as $3 a month or less.. Thats nothing.. I wouldn't even call the cost a real factor in deciding which to use.

That is a bad comparison.. The cost is minimal.. If we were to use this I could argue this for the PS3.. Why pay $100 extra dollars when you can get a 360 which will offer you the same experience..

Well I'm comparing two systems that share multiplats like MW2. You're just making up those percentages. I've played plenty of Halo 3 matches where people didn't have mics and when people did have mics I didn't exactly say "oh my god the game is ten times better now!" Speaking as someone who doesn't take my online playing THAT seriously I've had plenty of great matches with and without mics. Really not the end of the world. Also there are plenty of ppl using mics on PSN, you speak as though nobody uses them. Still doesn't justify charging me for access to an internet connection I'm already paying for in a game I paid full priced for that says "online" as a feature on the back.

I know Party Chat doesn't sound like much, but it's so useful to me. The first thing I do when I turn on the xbox is start/join a party with my friends. It's really useful becasue some of us play Gears 2, some play Halo 3.

Live is alot mroe seamless than PSN is. If I wanna join a friends game, I simply go to join game under there gamertag, and im there. ANd more than likely hell own a mic. You can argue which service is less laggy or more stable, but I think its fact that, right now, Live is the more clean and Proffesional service of the two. This is mainly due to it having a longer time out than the OPSN, which only really came out when PS3 did. Live has been around for like 8 years. Thats alot of time to perfect.

Just because you do not care for the features.. Doesn'ts ome how make the PSN better, it may be MORE suitable for you.. But it is most certianly not better.. And hell yes thre is a mic problem on PS3.. Playing borderlands online for instance is close to unbarable because 90% of the pople I play with never have a mic.. Not to mention XBL actually has a party system and invite system which is far more intutitive and effective when playing with friends.. Inviting people to a RE5 game for instance on the PS3 was one of the most illogical and confusing things that I had to explain to people who it worked so they could join my game.. Thats not a good design feature.

... both have their quirks.. I am indifferent on the Xbox360 one.. Because if I got the system chances are I iwll be paying that $3 a month for gold.. But I can see the complaint.. Though I think its equally obnoxious that Netflix disc has to be in yoru PS3 system at all times to play it.. Why couldn't they just install it? The Playstation store is also extremely poor in design and information.. Where I have to look on my computer to get more information on a game or what not because, all they give most times is a brief paragraph.. With no screenshots.. Or if I am lucky one or two.. Maybe once in a blue moon it may even have a demo.. The cost to me is negligent.. $3 a month is not something to stress on.. If people were anoyed with that.. Why arn;'t they annoyed with spending $60 or $300 to $600 a system.. Or $50 for a controller.. It seems really silly with the amount of complaints I hear when there are things that are so much more expensive that should be cut in my mind.

Whats ultimately frustrating about it is this.. Sony can easilly remedy these things.. But they don't and most certainly won't.. Cross game chat? (heard its coming out but not yet), party system, better invite system.. better PS stores.. All things that have yet to be improved after years of being out.. It seems like they just don't wantt o even compete with all the features XBL has.. I mean if these features are so "small" as many peopel against XBL think.. Why doesn't the PSN adopt them then?

really though all i do is plat games and message friends anyways so why is xbl so much better.dopey32
Well, when it comes to that stuff, Xbox is only just as good. Keep in mind having a gamertag, getting achievements, and messaging and chatting with friends is completely free in XBL. Don't act like it's not.

Because there's Xfans that all play on it with friends so they say it is.

i play on both, and prefer live. your statement carries no validity.

I prefer PSN, opinions are fun, no?

when there is an objective discusstion about the issue I may take part.

but a comparison of PSN and Live should have something other than all 360 fans

The only difference is cross game chat. When I'm playing rank match in Tekken 6, why would I want to talk to my friend playing FF13:? CGC is a nice feature, but its hardly useful. If you want to talk to friends, its called using a telephone.

.. I could make this exact same comparison to the Wii.. Well I played the Wii game and had as much fun as X game from PS3 online.. PS3 costsed more, hence the Wii is better.. Like this comparison the 360 has far more options, a far better friends system in creating parties.. Not to mention it seems on xbox360 some 70% of the users have or use mics.. While its the exact opposite for the PS3 where 70% do not have mics of any kind..

Those seem like minor differences to me. Minor things that fans like to blow out of proportion. The best argument Ive heard is: "my friends all play on live." That one I can't argue with.

I believe the PS3 netflix disc was a way of bypassing their agreement with Microsoft and offering movie streaming on the PS3.

I prefer Xbox Live. They have their community strategy thought out and it shows. On PSN, there still seems to be some inexplicable disconnect amongst the community members, online events and the people that run them.

Not to mention the cross game chats and the consistency of the cross game invite feature. It just looks like Sony is still trying to figure it out. Good for them, but they're still not at XBL level yet.

Sony was basically admitting that PSN is not on the level of XBL when they decided to have a version that they will charge people for..

i own a ps3 and am happy with the live. lots of times when i played xbox at friends house it lags. what more can xbox have on their internet that makes up for that yearly cost xbox charges. i know cross game voice chat but that is the only thing i can think of. really though all i do is plat games and message friends anyways so why is xbl so much better.

dopey32
It has more of everything, the interface is better. better XBLA games, easier to find friends and play with them, plus all 360 and XBLA games support Live in some way. You get what you pay for,
