[QUOTE="Zaeryn"][QUOTE="Forensic-Klown"][QUOTE="Zaeryn"]Compare GTA IV to games like Final Fantasy 7 and Ocarina of Time and you'll realize how messed up the scores are. GTA IV innovated nothing, it was just recycled content with a few new features, shiny graphics, and a big budget. The game is fun, but it's not groundbreaking. Nobody will care about the game 10 years from now. Forensic-Klown
so a game has to innovate to get a 10, get real.
So, you think a game deserves a PERFECT 10/10 when they haven't innovated ANYTHING? There is no way a game like GTA IV with recycled content and a couple new features is going to deserve a 10.
Ocarina of Time changed the action-adventure genre in MANY different ways and brought full 3-D graphics to light, Final Fantasy 7 brought RPG's to the mainstream in western culture and changed the RPG genre. Without those games, you wouldn't have many of the games we have now.
What did GTA IV do?
10 doesn't mean PERFECT, understand?
if the games fun enough, backed up with a great and interesting story, added with online that works, with graphics that are impressive..meaning if its the total package, 10 is understandable and reasonable.
you have to understand that, these days it isn't easy to innovate, almost all has been done b4...if your lucky, sure you'll get those extra points, (IF IT WORKS WELL)
but in the end, its all about making a fun and excellent game, no matter how its done.
Well I guess I can understand that you don't NEED to innovate to get a 10/10. But a 10/10 still requires A LOT. GTA IV just didn't deserve that score whatsoever when compared to other games of the same score. Hype train and a fat check to the reviewers if you ask me. It deserved a 9.0 or 9.5, but a 10/10 is ridiculous. It was good, not groundbreaking.
Honestly, if I have to give one word for GTA IV, it's rehash. A good one at that, but a rehash nonetheless.
