This.Initially I would say Sony overestimated the selling-power of Blu-Ray, and got owned by MS friendly development environment and ATI unified shader architecture.
However, after further consideration I realized the Wii took all of the PS1/PS2 casuals and left Sony with an overpriced BD trojan horse to battle against MS.
So basically they got f*cked up by Nintendo.

1. Charging too much for the PS3
2. slow start with no good games for three years
3. Lack of innovation in the industry for years relying on naughty dog to make them look good and for nintendo to give them good ideas.
4. Not handling the PSP correctly and having support completely die off from developers while piracy becomes rampant.
5. getting hacked and losing peoples credit cards
6. Repeat number one and probably 2 and 4 with Vita
[QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]wall of opinions trying to pass them as facts..sorry brah go back to your basement. Here's some actual data.Sony never lost the gaming crown, they are still number 1 in the console world when it comes to games and quality. In terms of sales they are neck and neck with the 360, most games sell around the same on both, so there isn't a wide margin. But the PS3 still beats it in graphics, free online, cost (it's cheaper), blu ray, and exclusives. Overall the PS3 is the superior system.
But to answer your question, Sony made the PS3 really powerful which is part of the reason why it was so expensive at launch. A lot of people couldn't afford a PS3 so the went with 360 instead, a lot of 360 only owners had a PS2 last gen.
They only went with 360 this gen because their mommy and daddy wouldn't buy a PS3, or they were adults with lower income levels and could not afford one. So you see, they don't really like 360 more, they don't have a preference, they never got to choose.
So now they are all jealous of the PS3, that's why they are so angry all the time. They all want one, but they won't buy a PS3 because they can't afford a second console. So they have to try and down play it so they won't feel insecure about their console anymore.
Tessellation
360 has more AAA, AA, and A exclusives.
I hear angry fanboys a commin'
When I see posts like this I know that person is to never be taken serious since they are clearly clueless. The Wii sold the most this gen in America and how did the PS1 and 2 sell? In Japan they treat the 360 like the plague this gen and last. So how is it America is the one that only buys from their country? When americans decided to chose patriotism over quality.

I doubt that American patrioitism is based on buying American-made goods. It is more than that. When Americans decided to chose patriotism over quality.

IMO Sony never lost the gaming crown, they just lost the sales crown. I'll choose to follow the gaming crown any day ;).
Sony made a lot of silly mistakes at the start of this gen, but they had their hearts in the right place which is why they recovered.
I kind of see the 360 and PS3 as pretty equal. It only makes sense that Sony would lose market share this gen. Let's face the facts, MS definitely wanted in on the console competition. And whether one loves or hates the 360, they did a pretty good job selling it. I really don't think MS will ever be the top seller, nor do I think Sony is going down in flames. Its all a fight for 2nd place, anyway, as Nintendo mopped the floor with both of them.IMO Sony never lost the gaming crown, they just lost the sales crown. I'll choose to follow the gaming crown any day ;).

I honestly think that the PSP hurt the PS3 more than the Wii or 360 did. Sony should have never released that thing. Japanese Developers just stopping focusing on the console and went to the handhelds because it was easier and more profitable
They should have never released cell. Should have made a simple system that was a ps2.5 and the system would be 20 times better than it is now. It would have been much cheaper, more people would have bought into it, all the exclusives wouldn't have jumped ship.
[QUOTE="Kashiwaba"]Don't you mean Japan? It's not like the PS3 doesn't sell in the USA but the same could NOT be said for japan and the 360. So ummm yeah maybe you should do some research BEFORE you post. Why would Japan buy a console that breaks all the time over a console that doesn't? I fully understand why the 360 doesn't sell well in Japan. Crappy hardware is crappy hardware no matter which why you slice it.When americans decided to chose patriotism over quality.

I agree because loose means something is loose like a tooth. Lose means you lost that tooth.I have to ask if using the word "loose" instead of "lose" is a subtle troll. I've seen it done here and I imediately think of loosingENDS

its all in the cards sony played their cards wrong this entire gen , -from the start of psp to even the vita ,
nintendo managed to play a royal flush and a side hand of aces to dominate both sides of the industry thanks to pricing of the wii and the evolution wii brought forth , ,
and some how i believe nintendo is going to stay dominate if 3ds isnt an indication right now then i dont know what is , lets not forget why ps1 and ps2 sold so well why ps3 does not as much
1 playstation had almost all the third party titles we see toDAY exclusive to it n64 and it had different games which is why nintendo is still here
want a list -excluding gb and pc versions of some of these heres this list
ps2 era exclusives
id say the reason ps2 was successful wasnt the library this time round it was the dvd features included and how cheaper it was then xbox to boot , also no one actually expected xbox to take off it lagged close to gc the entire gen dreamcast faded so ya thats their reason they are not as successful today is because the lack of exclusives that are actually top notch most of the ps3 games are good but the fanbase really doesn't buy all of them
and most titles sony originally had went multiplat so it really hurt sony , and wii shot up there in exclusives which is why wii is the top seller this gen and i do not expect that to change next gen with titles like zombie u and mario bros they just keep piling high while sony lost all of its major cards and third party seams to be porting some of this gens big hits to wii u so 360s advantage quickly goes out the window!
