How did Turn 10 f#$% up Forza Motorsport so bad.

Since 2005 Turn 10 has released Forza Motorsport every 2 years, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and they have maintained great quality even with the bi-yearly release (except 5, rushed for X1 launch), most close to or above 90 on metacritic.

Then they took 6 years to reboot Forza Motorsport!

You'd think with 6 years they would make the best Forza EVER right? right?

Forza Motorsport is a sims racing game. There's only so much you can do to a racing simulator. Turn 10 just ran out of steam it seems. It's better than what we have now. 6 and 7 overall were better even with their minimal issues. There's a reason why Forza Horizon just outranks Motorsport. Funny how the same kinda happened to Gran Turismo 7.

Protip: buy a PS2 or Xbox (or emulate them). There are a ton of funtastic racing games in that gen you probably haven't played.

I personally didn't care to much for the main Forza games, the Forza Horizon games is where the fun is at.

Thought it was pretty good myself. Sure it could have been better but didn’t think it was all that bad. I’m fairly confident the next one will be very good. Not worried about it myself.

I don't have the time to invest in these sim racing games but there's clearly a market for them. The novelty of racing runs out of gas (ba dum tss) pretty quick with me.

So the losers are trying to down play their exclusives now since they are going to PS?

I tried to look it up because I was curious. Some were claiming there was disparity between the reviews and the reality of what the community thought of the game, here is an example of fans of the game complaining about it.

They failed to capatilize on the racing sim market while riding the tailwinds of the Xbox 360 generation and then got smacked in the face by the Xbox One generation.

Yeah, I feel like racing games were a big genre in the 2000's and even the 2010's, but not much it seems of late.

Apparently on the game's forums, they had a poll to see how people felt in 2025 about Forza Motorsport 2023.

22% are happy with the progress on Forza Motorsport (2023) so far. 48% are disappointed, and 36% have given up hope.

Is it me or is every game an RPG now? A third person one at that.

Certainly seems that way. If it's not an outright RPG, it's been RPG'ified with a skill system or dialogue tree or what have you.

I blame Far Cry 3, that's when this shit seemed to start. There was definitely a bit of "Hey you got RPG in my shooter!" and "Hey you got shooter in my RPG" going on, and it worked like chocolate and peanut butter work...but I've had a bit too much.

And before you know it you got a player power evolution in the same style of an RPG.

Forza Motorsport was bad at launch, but has improved. Still not where it needs to be. I think people just stopped caring. There are so many good racing games these days that when one fails, people just move on to the next one. It's no longer just about Gran Turismo and Forza these days. There are games like Assetto Corsa, Project Cars, Automobilista, GRID, Dirt Rally, WRC, F1, RaceRoom, iRacing, rFactor, etc.. that offer solid alternatives.

Actually it’s Forza that needed the “leg up” seeing that such a great series didn’t sell anywhere near GT on the Xbox.
