I think the 8.5 is justified. The AI was bad and I found the story disappointing. Still an aewsome game though.

Jesus. I'll never understand people that play games (especially FPS's) for story.

When the lead designer belittles other games' stories and talks about how great his is, and we're left with this. Yeah, I think its a valid complaint :P

Ah okay, I had no idea.

Because it wasn't as an impressive or ground-breaking game as the first? It was heavily conosolized after all.

Because you got to realize that we're in the middle of the generation. These days, it's harder to do something new and immerse. That's why lately the best games are getting an average score of 8.5. Shogun 2 doesn't count because it did heck of a lot of new things especially multiplayer component and improved upon a ton of things most importantly the diplomacy. Not buggy neither like the last 2 entries, so it deserved a 9. How about the other games that got a 8.5? Not much different than their predecessor. Didn't add much new stuff and didn't improve a whole lot neither. So, I wouldn't say that any of the hyped games that came out so far this year is a flop. No flops yet.

I agree. Any game that has at least an 8 isnt really a "flop".

Uhh, I change my previous statement, it's overrated even at 8.5, I can't give a game that you can't skip cutscenes anything above a 7, 0 replayability if I have to sit through the story I already beat, and have to get a new tutorial each time I play the game.Inconsistancy

On the PS3 version, roughly 10 seconds into every cutscene this text appears at the bottom that says "Press X to enter game". It was annoying, because it was constantly there, and brought me out of the moment for cutscenes since the game was trying to tell me to bypass them :P

Yet ODST, Reach get 9.0/9.5??? Thats nostaligia if i've ever seen it.

To me this makes so little sense, Not only does Crysis 2 have a better story than reach,it looks better, plays better and just has more going for it thanks to the suit abilities. From being able to grab/slide/kick and just completely get immersed in such detail crytek has managed to create for a console game.

I haven't felt this type of epic experience since MGS4, IMO

Thoughts?

It did just not on gamespot which is becoming less and less creditable I put more trust in IGN which is sad.

The game deserved the score it got. It's nothing special like Crysis 1 was, hence Crysis 1 deserved to get a 9.5. Not this dumb-down console port.

I applaud GS for giving this a game a score which I think was VERY FAIR.

Just beat the campaign... absolutely stunning. Great gunplay, options, graphics, music, story( decent at least), and length make this easily a 9.

Frankly the game DID deserve a 9.0 here, the campaign was amazing.

Because it wasn't as an impressive or ground-breaking game as the first? It was heavily conosolized after all.

foxhound_fox

Which would explain why Black OPs didn't get a 9.0 here, oh wait it did.
