How do you reach a decision on what console to buy?

Now I don't know about you, but I love seeing consoles exclusive games that come out for any system. First of all I haven't bought any next gen game for this simple fact I don't buy anything because other people are getting into it. I like to follow my own opinion about which game system I want to play on. I don't care about things like Blu-rayor playing on-line with other people. I find those things just to belittle extra on the main dish. I want to play a game for quality, but I also don't want to find myself looking at some crap a kid has hand drawn and stuck on my t.v.

Back to the issue, I save my money wisely and do research on the games that the console has for it. And when one game cathces your attention then another game comes along and does the same, but on another console. Then you ask yourself well I do want to serve up some people on Super Smash Brothers, but their aren't many adventure games like Uncharted, then well Mass Effect is coming to. And while your in your dilemma you find out that some first party games get some pretty sad scores. So how do you all arrive at the answer to which console you should buy?

Well I'm a complete fanboy of Metroid/Zelda and Mario PLATFORMERS. So there's my Wii purchase.

And I found that 360 completed my gaming needs moreso than PS3 did.

Which ever one my brother decides to put half in on.

I dont wanna spend full price and regret it, so I go half and half with him. Got a 360..its fun and all but I might turn into a hermit soon. Depends on if Crysis turns out to be good, and not just a graphics like Lair.

Try not to listen to too many fanboy opinions. Check out the coming and the current games for each console, the hardware, price, online service, etc.

After careful deliberation, I chose to get a 360 (i had both an xbox and ps2, loved em both) because it has an amazing online service, bar none, great games, upcoming games and exclusives, same can be said for PS3 aswell in terms of upcoming games. Hardware the 360 lacks in. But the newer 360 are much less prone to overheating, and have better HDMI capabilities.

So choose w/e you like. I chose the 360 since I dont like FF (got stale after FFX) and never played MGS >_> The only game i want thats PS3 exclusive is KH3, and i can live with that while i play Halo 3, the GeoW games and Mass Effect triology :)

Well it would not be on the wii because SE like to have pretty graphics(maybe a spin-off or prequel) and if it goes on the 360 i would be on the PS3 as well because the 360 isnt doing well in japan. IMO

I boughta Wii for Nintendo 1st and 2nd Party games, and also some other 3rd Party games like No More Heroes.

Well PS3 was a no brainer for me. Reliable, good value and features, PS2's 1st/2nd party history is great. It will be great just by the Sony games alone. I really don't understand where all the hate comes from anyways. What made PS2 great? The games. PS3 still has the top 2 3rd party exclusive games and most of the good exclusives by late gen PS2 were all 1st party anyways.

360 I'm going to get some time this fall. But horrible failure rates, the ugly power brick and add-ons, and Microsoft's rip-off proprietary crap and marketplace nickel and diming is just awful. If Mass Effect gets announced for PC I probably won't even bother at all with this horrible platform.

The Wii is a complete and utter rip-off. The hardware is ancient and worth $149 at best. The games are overpriced at $50. Should be variable $20 -$50 (Warioware - Zelda). The VC is also massively overpriced.... I mean they're trying to charge $5/8/10 for tiny ROM downloads. Considering you can steal the same thing as the entire Snes library in one nice torrent package why are they getting away with that rip-off? $2/3/5 is about right. I'm still going to buy a Wii soon because I do like Nintendo games though.

Its easy the price tags you can get 2 consoles for the price of one!

So now I can play all nintendo franchises (mario, metroid, zelda, ect.) and have halo 3 while playing with my friends!

I wanted a PS3, simply for the track record of the PS2. I had every intention of buying one, as soon as that system selling game was released....and in my opinion, it still hasn't happened.

So I began to ask myself, "How long am I going to have to wait for the good games to come out?" "When they do come out, how long am I going to have to wait for the next batch?"

People have a lot of bad things to say about Microsoft, but they seem like the only ones who actually give a crap about their console owners. So I went with the 360, and I'm loving it.

I'll probably end up getting a Wii at some point as well. Maybe next summer if there's a pretty bad game drought.
