How do you spend the $5 bucks a month NOT paying for XBL.

Since XBL is so expensive :roll: Heres some of the 5 bucks I've been spending in place of Halo 3 online:

A pack of ciggarettes
a six pack of beer
a meal at KFC
taxi cab fare
1 2-liter Pepsi and a bag of Dorritos
A tip to my Barber

How DO YOU spend all that money you saved? List them.

The point is not that it is expensive, it isn't. The point is that you are paying for nothing. You are being charged to be used as a server. I could understand if MS had their own dedicated servers for every game, and the fee was for up keep, but this is not the case.They don't give you anything for free but Demo's, and pictures most people don't want anyway. Then they charge you for everything else on there, and the prices are kind of high seeing as how you are already paying for the service. The main reason for XBOX Live is playing games. PC its free, PS3 its free, why is MS charging? Silver accounts can't do squat. IMO MS should charge if you want to download movies, and TV shows, and buy games etc..., but online play should be free. People talk about MS giving choices with their Console, well Live doesn't really give many options. Either you pay the price, or you don't get squat.

I don't want to hear ease of use or anything like that cause PS3 and PC online is plenty easy to use and its free.

$5 for a month of great online gaming....

$9 for a damn movie ticket @ my local Theatre for a 1 Hour 45 Minute movie.....

As much as I love free online, XBL is worth the money.

I do not own a 360 but I do own a Xbox and I used to play Halo 2 and other XBL titles regulararly. It was worth every penny. The online was so well put together last gen and it is even better now.

Now Sony is making large leaps towards amazing free online, but they still can't compete with the overall quality of XBL.

This is the day and age of the discount airline. I remember when I flew on Midway's initial flights, they were the best airline for a while, gourmet meals, free bottles of wine, free upgrades to first class, all on tickets that cost next-to-nothing. I really miss them.

A 6 pack of beer is over 5$.

Even really terrible beer is around 6-7$.

And this is what most people don't seem to get, or try to avoid. The problem of XBOX Live charging money isn't the price itself but the principle in charging for a service that should be free in the first place.

First off. Everything sounds cheap when you divide it into small enough portions. Can't afford PC gaming? Get a job! You can get a PC for 700 and if you use it for 4 years that's less than 50cents per day, that's practically nothing!

Secondly. It's not about the money, it's about the principle. You pay for the game, console and ISP ..now you have to pay to play the game as well, that's ridiculous. Not to mention they have ads and microtransactions for every goddamn thing. It's a rip-off plain and simple. Then they take away some basic rights from the silver users, like the instant access to demos(which are basically ads) so it would seem like the gold members are actually getting something. :lol: Silver should include free online play, and Gold should just add all the extra crap from themes and profiles to faster downloads, for those interested.

Thirdly. I'll use that fiver for some beer/wine/tobacco/other poison.

XBL is a ripoff. That's my only problem with it really. 50 dollars isn't much, but I don't like getting ripped off and I hate companies like Microsoft who has no idea how to build a hardware and charge hidden costs. dkhw

in the end you are forced to invest more money in your system to use it to its features

u do realize the 360 is only a 100 dollars less right? and in 2 years it will ahve costed u 520 in 3 580 etc

So you're saying AAAE games(as rated on GS) are the only good games? Ok fanboy, just stop. I can name more than a few AA games on 360 that are extremely good. Some are even better than rated AAA games. Mass effect and Crackdown come to mind straightaway. PS3 has a lot of very good games. Just because someone decided to rate them lower, does not make them any less good. If you are only playing GS rated AAAE games, you are not a gamer. I feel bad for you.

Pfff.... XBOX Live.... I spend more for a coffee @ Starbucks, then I do per month for XBOX Live....

.... and it must be terrible that MS is forcing you to buy Gamer Pics & Themes on Live..... I guess I'm just lucky, because they haven't forced me to do it yet..... do 2 big dudes show up at the door in trench coats or something??
