for half assed games? Over and over again.

MMM, dat handshake at 2:20. LOL. Could their animations look any more cheap.

I understand how you Metroid fans feel, shitted on. Nintendo even lied to us FE fans and promised an awesome SMT x FE game years ago, before delaying it and turning it into this turd.

Anyhoo, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, Devil's Third, Star Fox Zero, Fatal Frame V, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, etc are all low budget, low resources, and low effort yet they somehow get to charge 50, sometimes 60, for these type of titles. These type of games would never retail for those prices on any other platform. Ori and the Blind Forest had more polish than some full priced Nintendo releases this gen, and that game retailed for only 20 dollars.

I mean Tokyo Mirage Sessions isnt even going to have english voice acting for fucks sake, yet i saw this game advertised for 60 dollars at gamestop the other day. 60 dollars.

Games like these ones would generally say for 15, 20 or 30 dollars on xbox live marketplace or psn store, how does nintendo continuously get away with releasing low budget titles for full price? and their games dont drop at all, ever. mario tennis ultra smash is still 50 dollars brand new, you're telling me that game is still in high demand 8 months later? No way.

It doesn't seem like they are getting away with it to me. They have a very small fan base these days which is continually shrinking and no one but the most devoted to the Nintendo brand are buying it. They may be making a profit but they sure as hell aren't competing with the others.

I believe the strategy is to simply not lower the price for their games. By doing so, the value is maintained unlike other devs in which the value plummets shortly after release. This makes the prices difference between used and new marginal thus further maintaining the perceived value.

As someone mentioned, tiny install base. Nintendo know they are complete numb skulls and mug them for as much as possible. But on a whole, the majority don't buy their garbage.

Somethings worth is only contingent on what someone is willing to pay... If Nintendo is able to keep people spending top dollar years after a game launches (which is something they do) then their product is worth that amount... People stop buying their game and they don't lower the price they are being stubborn, not getting away with anything.

They DON'T. Just watch the game fall to the budget section like Other M.

This like asking if they get a pass for everything they do, which hasn't been true for lord knows how long.

@TheEroica: okay, but their games which are actually good and top quality, like donkey kong tropical freeze and super mario 3d world, drop to 20 dollars, while their titles that are way low budget and obviously lack effort have somehow maintained a price of 40 or 50 dollars.

What truly bothers me is that many of their games are years old and are still being sold at full price. I understood back when they were selling the gc for 99 but I don't see why won't they lower the price of more than just a few selects.

@jcrame10: there's always a few games for them that they're willing to drop in price... Its not totally weird that it could be some of their higher quality or more accessible games. Especially considering we don't know their motivation in discounting them...

... Are they trying to move hardware?

...did they order too many for christmas and are now discounting a large stock in February? I don't know enough about the inner workings to know definitively why super Mario gets a drop to 20 and punch out holds strong at 50.

If you think Nintendo releases "the same game" with every new iteration, and Sony and Microsoft don't, there isn't a logical argument in the world that could convince you.

Turd!!? Maybe should play the before judging it. I personally sooo glad this not straight up crossover, because in honestly the story always crapin crossovers. Even in Kingdom Hearts the best part of the story was about original characters and actual crossover parts was nothing more than filler.

TMS #FE using crossover much better way with SMT press turn battle with FE weapon triangle.

Also about this game is not worth full price because there no English voice acting. Are u f**king serious!!? the game still has great visuals and 60-70 hours with game is here, I would gladly pay $60 for it. Meanwhile games like Order 1886 priced $60 which I hardly considere that as "game".

Collector's value. I got games worth more than what I paid for them. And years from now I can sell the whole collection for massive money. There is something cool about getting more than what you paid for and you still get to play the games and have fun.

@jcrame10: your only reason u think TMS is "hot garbage" because this not straight up SMTXFE cheap crossover. bsides if u this game crap then why do u care how much it cost!!? It's not like u gonna buy this anyway.

I personally as long SMT fan I am very excited for this especially what I saw from the combat. It's perfect game to keep me busy till P5 and SMTIV Final drops.

@danjin44: cuz nintendo makes some cheap looking shit, and since we haven't had a console FE in almost 10 years I would consider trying it because there ARE fire emblem elements in it...somewhat...but like I said I can tell by lookin at the shit it's not worth 60 dollars. And it's a niche title so I don't even think my Family Video will get a copy for rental.

@iandizion713: they didn't cost millions upon millions to make, and each one sold around 600,000 copies, which isn't bad. Of course fire emblem has picked up now, but back then it was a really small franchise.

And yes the developer is funded by the publisher with a certain amount of money, but the retail price of the game is set by the publisher who funded it

@jcrame10: Nintendo dont do that, they work with the company and agree on a price that the studio feels is worth it. Nintendo stated this when people complained abut Mario Tennis, Nintendo stated this price was what Camelot needed and had decided on as a studio.

Same with Bayonetta, it was Platinum that decided on the Bayonetta HD and $59.99 price.

Because people will buy their games for $60 - $70 .

I wouldn't but some people would, this is also why you will find Nintendo hesitant to rally against places like gamestop because you can't get away with keeping your first party games for $59.99 the whole time when its digitally available.

They benefit from the existence of those types of shops which says something about Nintendo as a company I think.

Hopefully these days with information at your fingertips, people can see if a game is good or note, Of course you can still get burned if you buy day 1, but with a huge backlog of games to play I can be picky and either wait for games to get better like I did with Skipping Destiny but buying Taken King for $35, or not buying and Renting like I did The Order, or skipping all together like Aliens marines, DNF ect.

@jcrame10: TMS is looking far from cheap!!! Have u seen any gameplay!!? How dose looks cheap to u!!? If u hate anime artstyle then that's different story and with that logic I'm guessing u also find Persona 5 looks "cheap" but that would crazy talk.

But here some hands on impression from RPGFan (which I trust waaaaay more than gamespot reviews)

Is 50 full price or is 60 full price? They can't both be full price! Ori and the blind forest was not expensive, but it is but one game. Where are alllll the other games that prove this to be a trend for Sony or Microsoft? And it's a very short game at that. HLTB puts it at only 8 hours of gameplay. Microsoft and Sony offer bad prices for their games, too. They tend to ask more for their console version than for a superior PC version...

I agree that Nintendo has put out some bad games lately. Can't sink much deeper than Amiibo Festival.

That is not true. The differences in opinions between users and critics are more negative with the games on Sony and Microsoft systems. Microsoft and Sony games tend to be critically rated much higher than their user scores.

@jcrame10: on technical level they are both about the same but the reason Persona 5 looks better because it has better art direction.

I'm way more excited about for Persona 5 and SMTIV final but I still think TMS#FE is great game to play while waiting for those two come out. Beside so far all the impression for TMS#FE have been really positive.

One thing really bothers me is people here really depend their entire opinion around gamespot's reviews. That to me is big, big mistake, in my opinion they are worst reviewers.
