Imagine money is no object, now which system do you want? Don't feed into whats more popular, buy whichever system(s) you feel are the ones you would like to own. Being happy with what you bought is a major factor in the reasoning people consider themselves above each other and in one instance "which would be price of machine" most people would consider "What you get is what you pay for" and I find that true with the PC hobby.
Buuuuut to justify the PC, PC Gamers usually refer themselves as the "Master Race" because of the effort it takes to make a good performing system, now you COULD be a millionaire and buy the best of the best money can buy but that would not account for the skill and patience needed for overclocking which in itself is another challenge that keeps this hobby so interesting and not a "pay to win" sort of deal and sadly this isn't a satisfaction console owners will never know being that the developers made it so that the system cannot be tampered with.PC owners usually and annually spend more then the average console owner.
Personally I feel held back on consoles, although I do like some games made exclusively for them, they still in my mind would have been 100% better as a PC multiplat just for the simple fact that the PC feels so much more unbound. BUT I have thought about this for some odd reason and what I have found really is what brands appeals most to you. Not everyone is into super high HD graphics, and I find Xbox360 owners usually are more aware of the fact that PC owners have most of the games they play but with much more freedom and capability but even with that realization the Xbox 360 is hands down the best "Price/Performance" system this gen with most of the games in my mind, people would want to play which justifies its existence "It gets potential Gamers interested in the hobby although mostly for the wrong reasons" But I am COMPLETELY agenst their UI and feel like its the most bogged down POS out of any current gen console and that alone makes it my least favorite this gen BESIDES the inclusion of Halo and Forza.
PS3 owners on the other hand usually enjoy the more user friendly interface where they can store all their media with a simple scrollable UI instead of folders. I know many PS3 fans and they are DIE HARD fanboys for the Sony franchise and most of them tell me they originally bought their PS3 because they feel like it in some way can do most of the basic things a PC can do such as the internet browser and other features that actually do resemble the PC in its most basic form. "I personally feel every owner of a PS3 is a PC gamer at heart" and some of their games really reflect that, I really have to respect Sony for allowing their games to be played with mouse and keyboard. The funny thing is that in comparison with the PS3, most of the multiplats are less graphically appealing but their exclusives look one of a kind and can actually rival the PC in rare cases "but not in a single whole game experience".
WII on the other hand.... I have absolutely no idea how to categorize them, I will say however they have brilliant and open UI which allows allot of customization which is TECHNICALLY unbound but I also feel like its not an the same level as PS3 ALSO for the simple fact that the controller is abysmal I cannot take this console completely seriously, even the WII-U is starting to look like a system which Gamers don't want to bother with because of the controls but its refreshing I guess to at least have something different.
BUT what appeals to you most is truly important. The defining reasons why PC Gamers are defines as master race is solely because the amount of sheer power some of these games need to run. The TRUE power of PC has not been shown yet and one day I believe it will be realized, Star Citizen may be the first of many to finally show the world what PC is capable of which can lead to some truly great games. The plain truth about it all is, in order to know, you MUST have a truly high end PC. ALL of my friends even the ones who don't even own a computer agree... PC is just better and explaining it to people who don't have one is like trying to explain color to a blind person.
