The PC as a gaming system has reasons why it is great, even if it isn't your gaming machine of preference.

The PC gaming users have no right to declare themselves superior humans based on this. It really is facile. Surely, nobody could possibly make such an arrogant claim and be serious about it?

psymon100

One could argue that because PC gamers spend every bit of money they can to play games with the best experience that makes them better.

Casual gamers won't go out and spend hundreds just to play a game, PC gamers will and do.... They wil spend what ever it takes to run and play a game in the absolute best way hat game can be played.

So surely that makes them more dedicated?

thats complete crap. some PC gamers will do that, some wont.

are you telling me that every PC gamer upgrades their card everytime a new game comes out?

some console gamers will spend stupid money. i went and spent £800 on a HDTV just for mass effect on xbox 360.

I've spent thousands on gaming this gen, literally thousands. i've spent about £400 on buying all the skylanders because my son likes them.

everyone is different. there are some PC gamers who wont pay a penny to the devs and will rather pirate, so how does that make them? so dedicated to the hobby that they will steal? wow - hardcore.

you are talking out of your ass.

Yeah. I too cannot accept thatyou could be a 'better' person just by maintaining an enthusiast level gaming PC.

I can accept that maintaining such a PC requires dedication, and some degree of financial backing - but this has no bearing whatsoever on the 'goodness' of the person. And like sts107mat says, just because the platform doesn't have open PCI-E slots, it doesn't mean someone couldn't dump equal cashflow into their console gaming hobby.

Not entirely true. I find people to be more dedicated to their machine for different reasons. Paying for better hardware is just one that you agree with, and know just because its popular does not represent the thoughts of everyone.

They are master race because they have higher standards and wouldn't accept tons of jaggies and awful performance and visuals. Consolites are peasants who even accept tons of jaggies and horrible inferior console version with awful performance and visuals. That's why we call them peasants.

I used to be a consolite, but since I have a keen interest in computers and is capable of building and working with computer parts, this got me thinking "why the hell am I playing on consoles?" so I made the switch to PC and not looking back at all.

Name one time that you truly noticed the jagged edges unless you owned a TV that had a horrible display.

Only now can you really see them being basically spoiled with PC graphical goodness but in all honestly, when I and anyone I know is playing a console game, these flaws dont seem so apparent.

Probably because PC gamers in general tend to be more engaged in the industry and are more likely to own multiple platforms. This isn't always the case but you're more likely to find someone who knows what they are talking about when playing PC games online than when you're playing console games.

so you say to be a good consolite you basically have to be ignorant about how actually good graphics in pc loo like so you can ignore the jagfest consoles are?

i have a ps3 and i love some games, but everytime i play i am like wtf are these jaggies, not to mention sometimes the console struggles with some games, i don't like that, i love having 60 constant fps fluid gameplay

You know we're the better race when we don't get aroused when we find out that a game is nativly 1280x720 or orasmic when a game has some form of anti-aliasing.

The excitement of Lemmings when Halo finally managed 1280x720 was laughable, is that what console sheeps expections have sunk down too?

it really depends on how big your TV and where you sit. I play a good 2.5 - 3 m from a 42" TV, at that distance jaggies are rarely visible, unless its a particularly bad graphics game. if i go sit right in front of the screen, they become massively noticeable. if my screen was smaller, i could get away with sitting closer. with PC gamers, who tend to sit close to the KB/M it is imperative that the graphics look as good as can be. they aren't an issue for most console gamers as we dont notice them sat at optimal viewing distance.

true aliasing isn't noticeable as much, but as a PC only gamer, whenever I play a friend's 360 or ps3, the sub HD resolutions give me a headache

That's rubbish and you know it.

I play some PC games with the Xbox 360 controller and I sit in the exactly same distance away from the TV as I usually do with my consoles and I can tell if there are jaggies or not.

try again will.

What is the distance you are sitting at? reading comprehension FTW.

First of all, fix your goddamn picture, you computer illiterate. It doesn't work and it must end with an extension such as .jpg or .png.

I sit about 1.5m (metre) away from the TV when I'm playing with the controller, and about 1m when playing with KB/M.

Then you are maybe sat in the "too close" zone. like i said if you sit close, the jaggies are noticeable and certainly will be if you go from PC to Console. the point i am making is that most console gamers tend to be further away from the screen so the jaggies etc are much less noticeable at a distance.

I'm comfortable with my distance to the TV. I can remember trying to play PS3 downstairs in the living room by sitting on the sofa, and obviously that means the TV is much further away, and I didn't like it. I prefer being close to the TV so I can see what's going on in the game and see my HUDs easily. Sitting on the sofa is also very uncomfortable for gaming, I prefer to sit on a chair so I can concentrate better.

You know the fact that people are finding it hard to read a piece of text from a distance. It's same for my case. I like to see my games easily. I don't want to sit up and think "WTF is going on, and WTF is that thing on the screen?". So sitting at least 1m close to the TV is much better.
