It certainly was. Squaretrade pegged it at 23.7% in Sept of '09. Down quite a bit, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's dropped more.

The hardware was trash, but ti's definately gotten better.

I remember sega master system vs nintendo from back in the day, albeit was waged in the cafetorium and not the yet to be internet. System wars have progressed through the gens to where we are today and I'm sure there must have been some heated atari vs colecovision wars like "well my system has 16 colors and yours only has 4."

Sony attempted to replicate their destruction of the Dreamast brand against the 360, and it backfired horribly

which was blasphemy back in 2006/2007, Sony was like the Pope of consoles, so seeing them tripping on their own shoelaces gave everybody else ammunition - which they capitalized on, to the detriment of many a sony fanboy, turning this gen into a mopey emotional soap opera of "whose the bigger underdog? *sniff* *sniff*", somehow because Sony screwed up more and delivered less they deserved to win, and that's where the "year of PS3" started - like the PS3 was the return of the jedi against the microsoft sith or some such melodrama

3 years later all of that energy seems to have transformed into hating OnLive, Activision, and casual games, as gamers go on a crusade against something that's always been around but never threatened them

I would assume it has gotten better over time, but using figures from third party warranty providers isn't going to paint an accurate picture. With all 360 owners having a three year manufacturer's warranty covering RRoD, why would anyone with RRoD send their console in to squaretrade?

That's very true, though which do you think would be more accurate? The warranty provider or a direct survey? I'm honestly not certain either way.

Still, like you said, it's reasonable to assume the failure rate has dropped over time.

I'm sure it's because they're similar in what the consoles are capable of. If the 360 was weaker and focused on motion controls then System Wars would be Wii vs 360. At least that's how I see it. Also last generation the Xbox came onto the scene challenging the PS2. So it's probably carrying over a bit from last gen.Fumpa

Actually no when you get raped you don't redeem your pride by just punching the other person you need to rape him or kill him and still 360 didn't kill PS3 it was just a small punch.

People like to insult the things other people have because it somehow makes them feel better about themselves for not having it and for having another system others insult them for in a never ending cycle of stupidity over a plastic machine that give you enjoyment. The fact that this goes for both consoles solidifies my point.

Actually no when you get raped you don't redeem your pride by just punching the other person you need to rape him or kill him and still 360 didn't kill PS3 it was just a small punch.

Note that marketshare never transfers over from generation to generation, but the PS3 was cut out pretty bad in the initial stages of the gen, both by MS and Nintendo. MS is also profitable on their system, makes a killing off Live (an integral part of the 360), the system has a great catalogue of games, so i'd say they the MS fanboys already redeemed their pride.
