Honest opinions please. How do you think it compares to other online shooters like COD and Killzone 2? Please don't turn this into a KZ2 vs Halo 3 thread, I'm just wanna know how you rate Halo 3's online experience.

Naw it definitely appeals to me. Which do you prefer personally?I can assure you that CODMW, Killzone 2 and Halo 3 have great online MP.
Whether or not you like each depends on your preference. Halo is a slow-paced, Sci-Fi shooter and may not appeal to you if you're into realistic weapons or darker themes.

i used to be addicted to halo 2 (played it so much my xbox disc drive stop working lol)but for some reason icant stand halo 3 i guess i got used to the shooters that reward u with unlockable weapons and perks like cod 4 and kz 2
also at least in my case i was having lag issues when playing big team matches on halo 3 which is only up to 16 players but yet i get less lag when playing ressitance 40+ player matches and 32 player matches on kz2
What is so addicting about it ? All what you do in Halo 3 online is gonig around, shoot people, then go back online again and shoot people. No leveling, upgrades or anything that may keep you asking for moreIt's really addicting, I have 4000 matches played.

Whatever Halo lacks in the customization department, I find it more than makes up for in "OMGWTF" moments. I haven't played KZ2, but CoD4 - due to its design, doesn't offer as much flexibility as Halo 3 does.
As for the OP, I find Halo 3 online insanely fun obviously. If you do hop online, add me. I could use more people to play with

Also, for most people, none of those are necessary for a Halo game. The joy of the multiplayer is simply just playing it ... and winning, of course. To prove this, Halo 1 is a perfect example. No levels, no achievements, no nothing, and it's still a popular multiplayer game because it's so fun, it doesn't need external rewards to bring the players back into the game.

I think he meant levelling that affects in-game status.I think it's fantastic. I play zombie custom games whenever I can. The only multiplayer shooter I like more is Team Fortress 2.

I got gold a few days ago and its not too bad.
Its pretty much a run and gun shooter. Its quit eold school PC in that you all start outwith the same basic guns, and have to look around for better things.
You have to keep moving so you dont get shot from behind, and most fights are very close up and generally end with melee attacks.
What is cool though is you can have 4 player splitscreen online, and there are vehicles. If youve played warhawk its like that but more run and gun, and in first person obviously.
Though tbh if your aomeone who has played games like COD4 and Killzone 2 a ton until you get to high ranks you will fins yoiurself toppin leaderboards a lot.
Most fights end up with 2 players running at eachother shooting, and the winner is generally whoiever is most daring, has the best weapon, or gets a hit in first.
It's very good. Sure I like Gears and games like CoD come and go TBH. But Halo 3 still keeps me coming even when I get most of the achievements. Whether it's splitscreen, online with a couple of buddies, or the the occassional ownage of a noob, it just stays with me. I could understand if it's not your thing by preference, but to say that it isn't good at what it does is just not true.
It's great, but the community has been failing it big time, every game someone quits, or someone's just running around walking into corners, or someone's non stop trash talking his own team mates. It really ruins the experience, cause when your in a match with chill dudes it's a lot of fun.
The same could be said about any shooter, but yeah it's great when you play with chilled dudes and not noobish and "serious" players. (Watch Arby n the Chief and you'll see my point)It's great, but the community has been failing it big time, every game someone quits, or someone's just running around walking into corners, or someone's non stop trash talking his own team mates. Well, that's from your point of view. Halo 3 feels more like a good-but-repetitive action game. I think that leveling is more attractive, and notion of upgrading your abilities constantly is great and have proven that it keeps the players attached. I don't know if you played killzone 2 or not, but the need to upgrade my character always kept me attached to the game.I've played over 100 matches on it at least, it sure was a lot, I say it's great, and most maps are well designed too.

haha 100 isnt anywhere near alot
i got close to 2000
to answer the question halo 3 online is awesome! especially if you got friends cuz you can do alot of crazy custom games

I don't know if you played killzone 2 or not, but the need to upgrade my character always kept me attached to the game. In theory it sounds great, but from a Halo sense it just doesn't work. That would be like me starting with an infinite energy sword and wearing Recon because I've played for so long and taking down low-level players armed with only plasma pistols at half charge. It may work with other shooters but not Halo.I got gold a few days ago and its not too bad.

Get better and it will be different.
This has nothing to do with the singleplayer but yes it's incredible.Halo 3 is incredible online. Absolutely incredible. Saved the game from its mediocre singleplayer.

Not to mention you actually do have levels and experience points, not that they affect your base character, but they shouldn't as it's stupid to allow people advantages in a game such as this. I'm looking at you Team Fortress 2.JandurinYou do realize TF2 allows you to pick up weapons now right? You don't have to earn achievements to earn items.
