Accessible, fun, instant gratification, all that good stuff.

There is our little bubble of gamers who enjoy a range of different types of games and have played enough games in general to the point that CoD is just "meh". We know that there are more satisfying experiences out there, or we have just moved past what CoD has to offer.

Then there is the rest of the world. People who don't give a shit what we think, people who don't have any vested interest in gaming beyond hopping online for some kills with the bros, or playing an "epic" single player campaign.

This is just reality. We're the gaming snobs with the sticks up our asses. We're the ones bitching on gaming forums about CoD while the majority of the CoD crowd doesn't even know we exist, nor do they give a **** about our opinions or the kinds of games we consider good.

People play it, enjoy it, get burned out on it, and the next drove of youngsters moves in, rinse and repeat. It'll be this way until the next big thing comes along.

Been saying this about Nintendo games and systems for years now. Everyone here either knows this and just likes to troll, or is a dumb fanboy who has tunnel vision and only comes here to fight for their system of choice.

That's all this place has ever been. There are posters here who mistakenly believe that their words are the Holy gospel, but nobody really cares about what anyone else says out of both sides of their mouth in a place called "System Wars". It's all just random drive-by brain cancer.

I work a lot, and I'm usually exhausted at the end of the day. I enjoy playing Call of Duty because it is a game that I can pick up, and enjoy lightly for 30 minutes.

Pretty much, I like being a snob about my games, not necessarily out of some perverse joy on finding a game to be dull, more so because I'm never going to apologize for having my brain turned on when I play a video game. It's just the shit that comes with age, and knowing that I was, I can, and I will be getting better. That said, it's not some crime that people like CoD, or shitty things like Dynasty Warriors (you are aids though, truly), it's a video game, it's entertainment, if it makes you happy, more power to you.

A lot of mainstream consumers only buy a few dedicated games a year, CoD may be it for lots of them.

It's a damn good value.

$60 gets you a shitton of content. Every year.

If you only buy a few games per year and like shooters, CoD got you completely covered.

Because it has surplanted Madden as the game of choice for many casual gamers. I don't really understand the mystery. It's like The Transformers movie franchise: lots of people are looking for a shallow, brain dead experience with many pew pews and IP familiarity goes a long way in appeasing the masses hence the yearly releases.

I've never been on the cod train until recently. Used to play mw2 with my friends at lan cafés back when the game was new and that's about it. One of my friends started playing ops 3 and pested me to play it. After a month I caved in. Didn't like it at first but now I'm almost prestige 6 and getting top 3's alot. Sliding and wallrunning is kind of a throwback to the old school quake days for me. Never thought I'd become a cod dudebro, but I did :p

CoD games are beyond fun and probably one of the few games out there that actually are worth $60 because you get your moneys worth literally in one week (unless you suck at PvP and rage quit by selling it after beating the story)

I seriously dont get it. You would think that people would need at least a yr break from the monotony.

Simple answer, because there's a huge community with tons of Clans that play, and like COD. I'm not one of them , but I get it.

I'm not a huge fan of COD but that has mostly been my changing tastes in games over the years. I remember playing COD around 8 years ago and thinking "YEAH!! This is awesome!!", I guess there are people still discovering it and feeling the same. It lost it's shine to me when I started to play more complex stuff. But it's still a fun arcade'y kind of shooter.

Its still popular because people enjoy it. Whether you like the game , or not nothing quite plays like COD. It has a certain feel people love.

You might as well be asking why Coca-Cola is still popular. It all comes down to having a winning formula.

Because people still very much enjoy playing them. They've been making Mario games since the 80s, why doesn't anyone say "hey it's a another Mario game, why are people still playing that"? Mario games are pretty much the same and not much as changed game mechanics wise.

Why does it even concern you anyway? People enjoy all sorts of games.

Cause they're good

I stopped buying em but they're still solid games.

People still like em and the dumb jackasses can't understand or accept that.

Don't like em? Fine, but ur just a jackass if u think it's some defect that drives people to buy said game.

That's why I hate SW, it's just jackasses being jackasses.

Sure, it's the "Xbros" or "stupid gamers" or maybe it's a solid shooter that has a loyal fan base

I reminds me of modern art where artists have disappeared so far up their own asses they can't tell what's actually good anymore.

I dont get it only because why would you play a game that makes you rage. I can be in a 12 person party and you can always tell whos playing COD because they are usually yelling profanities about the connection and how they shot someone but somehow they didnt get the kill. Look I like games as much as the next gamer but I refuse to raise my blood pressure over shotty hit detection.
