How is Heavy rain even considered a game by gamers?

I rented this game today and cannot grasp what anyone would like about this game. I was praised here on the forums for months, got a decent score from GS but I dont get it. I am at the partwhere you inspect the crime scene as the fbi agent. I had to battle my borden to get that far, in no way have I enjoyed 1 min of the game yet. Is there a point where it takes off and suddenly becomes fun? IF not let me know because I need to return this for a game I will play. I have no faith in the posters here if its a sony exclusive with good graphics it is a automatic win

Looked at the game's cover, I see. Or at the title of one of the thousand threads. Or at screen that appears when you're picking the game at the XMB. Or the huge letters that appear on top of the menu.

Sure whatever, I dont believe that I am the only one that found this game completly unenjoyable. If I made a tread about how awesome it is, no one would question if I had it or not. I just cant believe how bad it is, was never really looking forward to it but it was in at blockbuster and I needed a game to play. I am just suprised at how much of a game it is not.

It looks like you don't have the habit of reading things, I'll break it down. Click on your profile, and there, in yellow, will be the "Start a Blog" button. There you can tell your dramatic plight.

I agree. I played the demo on my girlfriend's brother's ps3, and we were all wondering the same thing. How the hell is this a game? And for a game so driven by story, the voice acting and dialogue is pretty bad. The one thing I liked about it, was how many different ways things could play out based on your choices, but that's not enough of a reason for me to want to actually sit down and play through the whole thing.

then go return it. if it sucks that bad go to blockbuster and demand a refund. no one cares that you dont think its a game.

Using that logic makes any game sound repetitive,

FPS: Kill everything in an area, small cutscene, kill, cutscene, etc

Sport: Play a match, Menu, Play a match, Menu, etc

Fighting: Bash some buttons, win, bash some more buttons, win, etc

I loved the game. Played it through 3 times already. Yeah, I agree the game starts SLOW until like chapter 12. You should give it another chance. And at least play further then like chapter 6. -.-

heavy rain is the best game i've played this year.

Characters can die for good in this game! I've never played a game where I tried so hard not to die (especially when you realize that it was because of your own stupid decisions that led these characters into potentially avoidable near-death situations)

This game, and probably Mass Effect 2 have actually made me care about keeping my characters alive.

Play a little more and things start getting interesting. You're not even really out of the tutorial

Yeah, the only thing I don't like is the slow start. Just thinking about playing through this again feels like a chore because of the beginning. Im at the part where [spoiler] You're the FBI agent and you've gone to question Ethans psychiatrist [/spoiler]

On TC's first post, he simply assumes we are biased and unworthy of all trust. This, to me, is petty, and sad. He can just tell all people who have valid points: "bah, teh fanboys" to every user. Now, I can't reminisce about how the boards "were back in the day", but opinion threads always end with a lock or a ban.

that's a shame. I think this game's greatest strength is making the player deal with the consequences of their actions.

It your not doing that, then it just becomes a standard game, with quick time events.

It's found in the gaming/electronics section of stores.

It's an activity engaged in for diversion or amusement.

TC obviously never played a classic adventure game. Kind of sad really.

It's interactive. That's the very definition of a video game - Interactive entertainment.

I didn't like it either. I thought watching my friend play it would be cooler, but it's just like watching a really long badly acted movie in that case. I guess it's not for everybody.

Heavy Rain is considered a game because it is a game.

Where are you going with this though? So you don't like it, I don't care. Blog it. Plus you're not very far into it.

A game isn't just gameplay,Silly . There are many aspects to games besides gameplay. The problem is that people like you are so narrow minded when it comes to games that you can't appreciate something different from the norm.

I really enjoyed the game. It started off ridiculously slow but during the second half of the gameit picked me up and never let me go until the very end.
