How is the Psp a failure ,wouldn't the 360 and Ps3 be considered failures too?

it failed game wise and it failed to reach its hype i.e "the ds killer"

and the ps3 is a failure to my eyes too only because of how much they sold the previous gens.

the xbox didnt sell anything so the only way really for them was to go up this gen.

The DS has 9 AA's no AAA's and that is counting the fact that Dsi games are reviewed here. So yea it is a little better objectively but seriously the Psp has a large library and plenty of AAA's and AA's not just ones released this year.

The DS has 6 AAA tiles according to gamerankings while the PSP has only 2. The DS also has 7 AAA titles on metacritic while the PSP only has 2 there. Only one of the PSP's AAA tiles is an exclusive since GTA:CW is also available on the iphone/ds........The PSPs game library is pretty much a failure.

It wasnt hyped as a "ds killer" because both were released around the same time dude and it has objectively the atleast 2nd best library of games for handhelds.

The Xbox sold more then the GC so they really didnt go up position wise but they did double their sales.

The Wii not only sold the most but was sold at a profit while the Ps3 and 360 were sold at a loss from what I understand?

Well I do not remember reading that from Ign or game informer around launch nor did I hear much about it on gamefaqs

I remember people whining about the $250 price and also one kid made a topic about sticking Spiderman 2 in his microwave lol.

I am sure some people hyped it as the DS killer but most people didnt...

Banjo Kongfooie, I'm glad you enjoy PSP but it's been a deal console for me for many years now, like I said earlier this year there's only been 3 must by games, support for the platform is slowly drifting out and I hope they bring out a PSP2 to try and get people interested again. Clank-PS-Snake

^_^ Well I remember reading they have 85 games this year and 75 next year or something. There are still some big name titles coming to the psp but they might go to the 3DS. They might announce the PSP2 at TGS but they would need some big games with the line up the 3DS has.

Its because the software just isnt there. Most people who bought a psp at one point probably havent touched it in years. If it wasnt for monster hunter I doubt the numbers for the hardware sales would be even close to where they are now

the thing is nintendo is popular in the handheld market so its completely understandable how bad the GC sold(even though they made a profit) that sony fans and others were saying the psp is the ds killer with the psp amazing specs at the time.

It was all over this forum and just google ds kiler you will see the psp pop up in many articles.

yea the xbox did double it sales in its only at 40 million which i said really all the xbox brand had to do was go up if they messed that up they would be seriously bad businessmen lol.

sony does well actually if you consider that Nintendo had a monopoly on the handheld sector since 1989 and PSP sold more than the handhelds of Sega, NEC, Atari, Nokia, Tiger, SNK & Bandai together.
