I will use Fanboy Logic to explain this....

• Gamecube = $99
• Wiimote = $40
• Nunchuck = $20
• Built in Wifi = $99 (The 360's Wifi cost $100)
• Wii Sports = $50 (retails for that much in Japan anyways since its sold seperately)

Total Cost = $310

Oh and you get a sensor Bar and built in 512MB flash memory. Using fanboy logic I am no doubt correct.

Really the games look cube/ps2 level and those sell for $99 to 129 and no game makes motion a must have yet.

At 199 to 150 the wii looks alot better imo.

Your right I don't get it cause I never bought a pet rock lol and while I did buy a wii I sold it even upconverted on my hdtv the graphics were terrible and the sound omg is so far behind the 360 and ps3 it's painful. Then the online for the wii is a joke and the prices for the classic games is too high imo. Hey that's just me after getting used to the 360 and ps3 it's very hard to play the wii and not say wtf is this ??

I dont mind the $250 price tag because its exctremely cheap compared to other consoles. I often hear costumers saying "wow the Wii is cheap!" and last gen a $250 price tag would be rather high. BUT, I wish Nintendo would have made the Wii a little more powerful. Maybe they would make $50 profit but 0 profit is still good if you lose nothing considering the ammount of money Sony and M$ lost.Hir0_N

Yeah, but Sony and MS have other divisions. So if the gaming division is unprofitable, it can stay alive. Nintendo and SEGA don't, so they can only rely on their gaming division, so they HAVE to make a profit.

Nintendo is the 2nd biggest game publisher. they already make bazillion of dollars with pokemon alone. Add the DS and all the other Nintendo games. And after a year, Nintendo would start to make a profit on the Wii and still sell dozens of millions of Wiis. But I understand Nintendo's decision, they took a huge risk but it paid off.

The hardware is certainly not worth $250 and is a complete rip-off at that price. But Nintendo fans are buying it for Nintendo games and everyone else is buying it because of the controller. It has enough fun games to justify the cost imo with Monkey Ball, Wii Sports, Zelda, Resident Evil 4, Madden 07, Super Paper Mario, VC games, and plenty of promising future titles such as Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3

and I agree that it certaintly doesn't have as great of a game selection found with the 360 but it has enough good ones to be worth the $250

Yeah, yeah, I know, "All it has are mini-games", which is false, and will always be false, especially after MP3, SMG, and SSBB come out.

It's worth $250 to some people and it's not worth that much to others. It's as simple as that.

Worth is determined by how much an individual or group of people get out of something. If you pay $5,000 for a trip to Italy, get sick upon arrival and have to spend the entire trip locked in your hotel room, then it wasn't worth it. If you went with a friend or relative and they went out and experienced the country, then the trip was well worth the money to them.

The same goes for the Wii. If you and a friend each purchased the system and you never touch it, while he plays it for hours and hours everyday, then it was certainly worth the price to one of you.

Personally, I believe it is worth $250.

Once, someone bought a Jedi account on Ebay for Star Wars Galaxies for $5,000. Fools and their money are easily parted, I wish I never spent £180 on a Wii. Should have gone for a better and more expensive console, you get what you pay for.

Simple: It's not. Lackluster games, no-effort put into VC downloads and old-tech. I'm seeing figures of cost from posters pulling it out of thin air. Consider how much those parts cost now on top of how cheap they were back in November (due to the amount of demand). They are MILKING consumers the most out of everyone. I think the entire package costs around 100 dollars now to make. The controller is not something complicated, it was hacked by kids in a week and made to work with a PC, it's junk and has been around for a while...and yet...Nintendo markets up that crap to 50 dollars. The VCs aren't updated in anyway or improved along with thier cost and thus, the milkage continues. Terrible company and terrible products. May their stock plumet and everyone whos running the show completely go out of business.soulsofblayck

The Wii, besides 2 or 3 games is an awful gaming console for more hardcore gamers. Online sucks, graphics are brutal, and games for the system are targeted to children and people who don't play much video games.

The Wii is like the modern day Pong machine. Can you say "WalMart Console". Where the trailerpark trash buy'em up with their $5 dress shirts and $4 cologne.

I read the Wiimote costs $7 to make and the Nunchuck around $4, sorry I don't have a link. But its old technology already, its just never been used together before.

Now add Wii Sports, and voila!

Are you kidding me, wii sports wa probably a quick throw together game made up of great ideas for tech demos the budget well under a million. even if nintendonly added $5 to teh value of the console to compensate they would be making millions wii sports should barely anything to cost meaning that the wii costs about $170, a rip off but I still got one, why I dont know, could have waited for the games but the price aint dropping anytime soon so I said might aswell get it now before they become hard to find for the holiday season.

the biggest damage and misunderstanding here is that in the assumption of a revolution.I've mentioned this many times but ill say it again.

Innovation lies with the developer and so ultimately in the out puts not the inputs.a revolution in the wii lies with the non gamer.coz I don't think any serious gamer hear would pay much attention to their controller about 1 or 3 hours in to the game.usually the object is to learn the game-play mechanics soon as possible so you can start interacting with the game(i.e outputs). at which point the novelty of the controller is almost forgotten!!

so my point here is the main attraction of the wii which is the controller, is idealy revlolutionary to the non-gamer. but for someone who has played games a lot, 250$ is not worthwhile.why? becasue its hardware isn't evolved enough to be called next gen.

It hasn't got enough power to render as many enemies or objects of interaction as the PS3 or the X360
