Oh god, this thread is cringeville to me

So much "I game...", "I've been gaming...", "I'm a gamer..."...

unghghhh...my brain is caving in.

You should go to internet jail for at least a month anytime you use "game" as a verb. That shit's horrible goddamn.

Someone needs to call you some help. See like you are having a stroke over there.

Since 1993 or 1994 with the Sega Genesis and SNES. I love how much gaming has evovled. And the vast experiences avaliable. In recent months, Destiny has just soaked up almost all of gameplay hours. As its just a vast science behind being good at PvP with tons of maps to play on with various subclasses. Keeping things fresh and competitive.

And the PvE content is a relaxing fun social experience for the most part.

I was 5 or 6 when my Dad bought my first console, that was 40 years ago. I don't foresee a future that I won't be wanting to play games :)

23 years now, I began when my father brought home duck hunt for HIS nes. My fondest memories gaming wise are playing super mario bros on the snes and mario kart on the n64 with my old man. A few months ago on a family dinner (I now live 10 hours away) he told me he really gotten the NES, SNES and N64 for himself (we had all our consoles on the TV room), so the gamecube was my real first gaming system.

Now I am a lawyer and whilst im quite busy at times I still find time to game a few hours a week. Now I game on every platform (mobile, wii u, xone, ps4, pc), but I will always be fond of nintendo games, I do hope they hit a home run with the switch because when I have kids of my own I want to introduce them to gaming as my old man did.

Since the late 80s. Because you learn a lot by playing video games. It's true.

I've been playing games for about 25 years and I keep playing because I love games. I've had phases where I need a break or just burn out but I always come back. I love movies and like others have mentioned reading is its own precious reward but there's just nothing quite like playing a really good game that you just can't put down.

Movies tell you a story you can't affect, books tell you a story and you have to imagine the characters for yourself which is not a bad thing but games put you in control of the whole show. I know @jgx4champ will now point out how terrible stories are in videogames and while I like and respect the chap there is no denying that actual interaction with whatever poorly scripted universe you happen to be in will always beat simply watching it or reading about it.

I will spend the foreseeable future with a mouse or controller in my hand trying to kill something that can't actually die. And that's okay.

For +- 35 years. Sometimes sporadically, sometimes compulsively. I love the medium and I feel fortunate to see it evolve through the times.

Almost 30 years for me. But I missed some part of two gen. I stopped playing not so long after Final Fantays VII came out. I went back at it when the Gamecube came out and played maybe 2 years before stopping and I went back again maybe 2 years into the PS3 life and I've been playing non-stop since.

I miss the days of unlocking stuff by playing the game instead of paying for those extra costumes, extra level or extra whatever. So I play very selective games now.

I really enjoy the 3DS and a few games on the PS4. I'm really looking foward the mini NES.

I've been gaming since 1982, started on a old home computer (I think it was a Texas instrument) and we had a bunch of educational games for it. 83 my parents bought me and my brother a 2600 and I've been gaming ever since. It's my get away from the bs that is real life.

I don't remember when exactly but it was around 25 years ago when I started playing video games.

I like old and new games but recently have been playing a lot of arcade games to relive the experience.

I even built my own bartop arcade cab to play certain games on.

I lacked some of the tools so I got someone to cut the pieces.

I then looked up the cabinet artwork for Streetfighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2 and used photoshop to modify it to fit the size of my bartop cab.

I had a company print it out and mail it to me to apply onto the arcade cab.

I bought the buttons and Sanwa joysticks and some other pieces like the lights and trim.

I then bought some cheaper computers parts like an Intel Pentium G3258, 4GB of RAM and a GTX 750ti so not only can I play old arcade games but I can also play new ones like Mortal Kombat XL and Dead or Alive 5.

I also purchased a monitor that barely squeezed in. I made sure it was an IPS panel so colors don't degrade from an angle.

The speakers used were the Creative Inspire T-12.

All together it probably cost me about $500 to put it all together.

I use hyperspin with rocketlauncher to play all my games.

This is what the back looked like before I cleaned it all up.

Cheaper than I thought would have thought it would have been. Some nice dedication going on there.

Well I got some good deals. Normally It would of cost a couple of hundred more.

40USD - Pentium G3258

30USD - ASUS motherboard (forget model).

70USD - EVGA SC GTX 750ti.

12USD - 1333mhz DDR3 4GB RAM.

60USD - 21.5 inch 1080p IPS monitor.

13USD - Antec earthwatts power supply.

28USD - 1TB western digital blue hard drive

65USD - pre cut wood panels.

15USD - red and black T-molding

50USD - artwork.

100USD - two Sanwa joysticks and 20 light up buttons (with the wire hook ups) plus extra batstick tops to replace ball tops.

7USD - led lights for marque.

12USD - power strip that has smart power feature.

20USD - Creative Inspire T-12 speakers.

So it ended up being a little bit more than 500USD.

My brother really when he got the amiga 500 back in early 90.s. I had no friends at school and that what kept me going and that's why I don't like MP. Single player games use to keep me going and only thing that didn't stab me in the back. Come and think of it that why I still play games and only like single player. Nothing changed and not trusted people since school.

i've been gaming for about 28 years or so, one of the neighbors introduced me to mario bros on the nes when i was 7ish and i was instantly hooked. honestly i've lost interest in about every genre except FPSs but i do enjoy the oddball game here and there along with some classic stuff.

had no idea there were so many of us older gamers on here, makes me feel better about being 35 spending and time on a game forum lol.

Been gaming since the Atari 2600 days. My older cousin got me into it with games like Qbert and Dig Dug. Own a lot of consoles over the years as I got older and just grew to enjoy gaming more and more. SNES was the first console I actual brought with my own money, had to save up for it of cause but ever since then, that's when I really got hardcore into gaming. I'm older now and don't game as hardcore as I use to cause of work, kids and just life in general but when I have my free time, I still game as much as I can.

I been gaming since 1993, my first ever gaming console was SNES along with Super Mario World and beyond that, I been gaming ever since and to this day, I'm still playing video games as my main hobby and hope to continue when I'm at age 60. I also got into PC gaming back in 2007 just for Crysis but I'm a gamer, rather it be on console or PC, I like to play games!!!
