How many AAA franchises are there?

Doesn't matter. Halo 2 was on the PC is in the Halo franchise. Therefore, the Halo series isn't AAA.

Umm.. If PC versions count as seperate versions.. Bioshock (its got 2 AAAs then).

It's all dependent on where you get your reviews from. Based on ign.com review scores, MGS would be AAA all the way.

Metal Gear Solid PS1 - 9.8

Metal Gear Solid 2 PS2 - 9.7

Metal Gear Solid 3 PS2 - 9.6

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops - 9.0

Metal Gear Solid 4 - 10.0

Of course that's based on the main canonical games of the series, and not expansions/ports (i.e. MGS Port. Ops Plus, MGS Twin Snakes)

We do count ports (well I don't, but TC does) and it wasn't a port in any shape or form
