I've always wondered if most of the fanboys on these forums have supported their favorite game companies for several generations or if they are just 11-year old kids who learn their gaming history lessons from Wikipedia and then come here to argue.  It seems there's probably a mix of both, or somewhere in between.  When did you start being a fanboy?

The first system I ever played on was an NES/Gameboy; the first system I really got into playing was GBC/N64. I don't know how to vote in the poll lol :P

I started on my dad's old Atari 2600 when I was not much older than toddler.

Shortly afterwards I got my own NES when I very young ( 4, 5 years old )

Been gaming ever since.

My first TV games machine was an Interstate 595. Console generations didn't exist, let alone console wars.

I remember the war between SNES and Genesis. I have pretty much always owned a nintendo console (absolutely loved N64, and game cube was ok). But I guess im more of a sony supporter. I first bought a psone for one game which was FF7 and haven't stopped playing playstation consoles since. I have owned pretty much every nintendo and sony consoles and handhelds and enjoy consoles/games from both companies

First console war I remember was people fighting over genesis vs snes. First console online I remember was DC vs ps2. That was when I used to visit a online forum with a system wars. When I had a Nes I don't remember there being a console war. Everyone just had a Nes.

Wars were small back in the day because of the lack of internet.

The Sega commercial's were combative with Nintendo. And I remember endless Mario vs Sonic debates with other kids. Back then the magazines fueled the rivalries as well. EGM 4 LIFE.

I grew up on 16 bit... GENESIS then onto the Saturn, the only war i noticed was when i was at school when PS2 and XBOX launched, i said i had a Dreamcast, and some other kid would bark on about how superior the XBOX is... LOL

So i guess this was my first witnessed console war, but i started gaming on the 16 bit consoles.

The first console I played was the NES, but I only had one game for it. I mainly played games on the Atari ST first but that's a computer. The first console I got into was the Mega Drive so I'll go with that.

I started out with the SMS and haven't put a controller down since. I then migrated to the Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn , Dreamcast, well pretty much everything Sega. My best friend was all Nintendo. We didn't hate on either console though. It was just a way for us to enjoy both companies, without having to talk our parents into buying both, which I know my parents wouldn't have.

Since the 4th gen. Though it's hard to count the 6th gen as a "War" seeing as how PS2 slaughtered the competition.

I started gaming with the NES but I don't remember a console war back than since the NES had over 80% of the market share.

I remember the SNES vs. Genesis but I had both systems but I remember people arguing over which is better because they only had one of the two.

2600 was the 2nd Generation and we are going into the 8th Generation so you saw 6 Generations and you're starting your 7th generation.

All of them including the Odyssey but the console wars truly (for me) didn't start till the NES vs SEGA Master System launched in 1985. I fought with so many relatives and friends over which had the better games that till this day I gave up on being a fanboy..........it's too much damn work for nothing.

Been on these forums since Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 days (different username obviously), but been gaming since the mid eighties. NES vs Sega Master System was the first "war" I remember. Never have been a fanboy though, pretty much owned everything at one point or another. For me it is just a matter of which one I get first and which one I use the most.
