How many Copies will Halo 3 sell?

Halo CE Copies Sold: 6.43 Million

Halo 2 Copies Sold: 8 Million

Has we now Halo 3 is one of the most awaited games of 07 its coming out in fall so my guess is that about 14-16 million Xbox360 will sold by the time Halo 3 is released. So how many Copies will Halo 3 sell from your point of view?

Within the first few months, around 4 million.

In the long run, I'd say close to 10? I dunno I don't have my crystal ball. But yes, it will sell sh*t loads.

At the pace its selling it will beat the Xbox1 by 15 million.

Coupled with a price drop...6M before 2008. Slightly more than Halo 2 as H3 is more anticipated.

Halo 3 will be another MGS3.

Most people were burned by the utter craptasticness of the second one coming from the awesomeness of the first (just like MGS), and thus they'll be sceptical to buy the third, even if it is alot better (just like MGS).

Gears is just the best thing online at the moment. It doesn't hold a candle to what Halo 3 is going to offer.

It's not gonna steal Halo 3's thunder at all. Been playing MP for awhile now.... man, I just wish Halo 2 didn't stuff up on me online.

I actually don't know, seeing how geow is bounds and leaps better then halo 2 I expect it not to sell that well and that halo 2 was a huge disappointment (campaign wise), and that only around 2-3 million played online, I am pretty sure that it will sell at least 3 million. Well, no, the majority of Halo fans haven't. I was one, until a relative randomly gave us a 360 Gears pack. A lot of my friends are waiting for Halo 3 to come out, although they find Gears an enticing game. So no, they're still waiting. It's not too long anyway, so they will be waiting for a price drop, if there is going to be one by the time Halo 3 comes out.

Well, considering the fact that Halo 2 has been around since 2004, don't you think people want a break from all those Running Riots? A two year streak... I would love to see Gears even try and trump Halo 3 when it is finally released.

And if you were around since 2004, you would have seen threads like this:

"ZOMG Halo 2's campaign is awesome!"

Once everyone finished Halo 2's campaign:

"Jeez Halo 2's campaign sucks" (+ nitpicking on other aspects just so it doesn't seem like they're disappointed with the ending).

Yes, we were told that we were going to save the world in Halo 2. We didn't get to. That's disappointing. But judge the game on its own merits.

I did judge the game on its own merits, but some of the games that came out during that time were significantly better game play wise. Half life 2, metroid prime 2, UT2004 all had better gameplay in what they specialized in. Half life 2, and metroid prime had better campaign mode, and ut2004 had a better online mode. Halo 2 was a huge disappointment regardless. It just lacked the innovation of halo ce. drsports1980

Not also, Ensemble ARE the ones making it. Bungie just gave them all of their art assets and the halo story bible and that's it. They have no part in the development at all. After Halo 3, they're making a new game.
