[QUOTE="Uptown"]Achievements arent that great. Instead of just beating a boss midway through a game..now you get a notice letting you know you beat a boss mid-game and get 200 points for it. As it currently stands theyre pretty pointless to be honest. edd721
They add a lot of replay value, they may appear useless at first, but soon u'll realize u may want to get [insert here] achievement, and do some things that were useless for u (well for me) like beating a game in hardest dificulty.

Like I said earlier. I for one could care less about Achievements. Im not gonna play through a game again just to obtain an object or do something halfway through the game just to unlock one thing. Replayability FOR ME comes from a game being either A) Damned fun or B) Online Multiplayer. Achievements arent for everyone, and definitely arent a deal breaker in why XBL is > the PSN as this Threads title makes you believe.

In theory achievements are great, but the fact they've already been hacked, and you can jsut download the gamesaves makes them kind of obselete.

No one cares about achievement points, they're too easy to cheat, and only childish 10 year olds or nerds would care about it.

Theres no harm in having achievement points. They dont take anything away from games. If anything they add to games. So why bash the system? Because M$ though of it?

Its not that its a BAD thing Microsoft implemented them. You're missing the point.  First off, Read the title of this thread.  Do You really believe XBL Achievements are something other console owners should be totally envying?  I don't necessarily believe so.  Secondly,  in concept Achievements aren't bad, and maybe they will implement the points in some way down the road.  However,  at this point in time as stated...achievements do nothing for the general gamer.

I think the achievement system is great, but I don't think Sony should bother... As I don't play on-line with my console, let's keep the focus on the single player and the story please.

I bet that most of these cows would have had the exact opposite response had sony come up w/ the idea. (Sorry if it's already been said)

I like achievements, but i'm not a cow. Imagine Dead Rising without achievements. You would beat it once and sell it. No one in their right mind would try to get 53,594 zombie kills if they didn't get something in return, and if you did, there'd be no way to prove it. (sorry if that has been said also) Some games are good without  them though.
