Sonic is a great game, when it sticks to its roots. The 3D homing bs needs to stop. Give me classic Sonic and we will be alright.

I gave up on Sonic the Hedgehog at the beginning of last generation. I thought Sonic the Hedgehog for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 would be the best Sonic the Hedgehog video game at one point; I'm glad I never even got a chance to play it. It seems like Sega insist on having him be controlled like a car or they insist on making different type of game play that only creates more damage. The only recent Sonic the Hedgehog video games I have respect for are the ones made by Sumo Digital, although I am not so sure about the first Sonic the Hedgehog video game they made called Sega Superstars Tennis, but the rest were great.

I think Sega should just let Sumo Digital make all their future Sonic the Hedgehog video games. I want a free roaming Sonic the Hedgehog video game with a large selection of characters that you can play as, with next generation graphics; too bad this will never happen.

The original Sonic Adventure was supposed to be just that but the limitations on the consoles hardware have reduced it back to a basic platformer which isn't bad. I like the open world-platformer combo they had going for it. They should have stuck with it.

It just seems Sega has lost all inspiration for Sonic and the only thing left to cling onto is speed and other gimmicks like aliens, racing cars, rings, werewolves, swords, and other stuff that should have NEVER been in a Sonic game in the first place, I really don't see Sega ever producing another Sonic game ever again that will interest me, Generations was an exception but only in the legacy mode. They only way Sega tries to keep their IP fresh anymore is to create irrelevant and unmemorable characters which in their own respect have gimmicks in their design that no body asked for.

There is something that always drives me nuts about Sonic games as well, why does Sega insist on ALWAYS talking the protagonists and turning them good? Shadow was a decent protagonist, not just an anti Sonic but a new character with a recognizable design and unique personality then they decide to make the mistake of turning him good, also far too often do they disclude Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic is supposed to be as much of a protagonist as Eggman is but instead it always seems that somehow that character becomes a cameo or something that is brushed off half way through the story and it shouldn't be regarded anything less then bad script writing, kinda like it wasn't proof read half way through development of the game.

I'm sorry but if they want to keep the Sonic franchise alive, everyone who works on that IP right now should be fired. Sonic isn't meant to be a 5-6 year old's game, never was in the Genesis days, but you know at this point it would be "little too late".
