Because of Kinect being a requirement for X1 and because MS have chosen lower specs to compensate for Kinect?

MS' former consoles used to have pretty "cutting-edge" tech for consoles in the past, but with X1 this seems to be changing thanks to Kinect.

I think the higher price wouldn't be the issue if it also had the higher-spec hardware to accomodate the price.

Several "hardcore" gamers would prefer a more powerful system, even if it ment a higher price tag.

The original Kinect already made a divide in the Xbox fan-base, with some greeting it and some hating it.

I suppose the bigger "haters" will just switch to PS4 and/or PC, instead of further support MS.

What about you?

Are you among those who liked MS' consoles before but are now abandoning them thanks to Kinect and lower specs?

Discuss. ;)

I already have it. ;)

But I didn't mind getting a 360 too, as it was pretty impressive console power-wise and had some hot exclusives for the time.

I'm no MS fan, never was. Went from Dreamcast to PS2 in 2006, right when 360 launched but I will say this..

It's funny how the XBOX came out and was powerful

Xbox360 even had better RAM and GPU than PS3

But X1 is weaker in every dimension and it's greatest asset is a camera

Doesn't bother me at all. It can digitally recreate myself in games with a create-a-character and I can turn the system on while I'm taking off my work clothes. If that's all the use I ever get out of it that's ok with me.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

MS' Xbox brand used to be all about power, compared to it's competitors.

That's the reason why many even prefered the Xbox to PlayStation or Nintendo.

But now, it seems Kinect is the bigger focus...

That haven't touted kinect hardly at all.  The most I've heard them say is how it can tell who's using the controller so you don't have to "log-in," creating a digital you in games that have that option and voice commands.  Does Titanfall require hand gestures?  Hell even after early skepticism Ryse can be played 100% with the gamepad.

The focus has really been very minimal compared to the past 2 years.

People sticking with Xbox next gen are following a brand name now. Xbone is a complete 180 from what the Xbox and 360 were.

Still, you're getting a lower-spec system that costs more.

MS could either release a version without Kinect for lower price or make Kinect optional and make it stronger in the first place.

Not really.

Youll have to spend more to get a decent gaming rig. I bought my 360 like 8 years ago and it still plays every single 360 game, while an 8 year old PC cant run newer games so upgrading it is required. So you lose money on the hardware.

Games on PC are also more expensive. Take any major title out right now that is cross platform, the console versions sold it in stores quite often have sales at launch or a store will offer a gift card or whatnot while most PC games do not get that. Console games also drop in price much faster like skyrim legendary edition is 60 dollars on steam but you can get it for ps3 on amazon now for 40 and when its 30 on ps3 it will still be 60 on steam.

You can also trade and sell console games giving you value, while PC games you can not sell or trade.

Sure the PC has more games, but the majority of the games are just little crap indie games that really arent very good. For every minecraft you get, you get 200 leviathan warships and zeno clash games. So just because you get more doesnt mean its better. At least with a console you get bad games but you also get a good steady stream of good ones, not to mention a lot of the really good games on PC are cross platform on consoles as well and with the higher horse power of new consoles that trend will continue more so. Then you have the indie scene invading consoles so a lot of PC exclusive indie titles are and have been coming to consoles as well.

So in the end you will lose a substantial amount of money going just for the PC and all you will inherit is a much larger library of crap games.

There is nothing wrong with using a PC, but when you "move to PC" you just limit and screw yourself in the end.

Maybe I sound like someone who doesn't know what to do with his money, which is probably the case, but the stuff I mentioned earlier, along with certain franchises, are fully worth a mere $100 to me.  When a God of War is announced for PS4 I'll buy one that day.

I'm not, I'm giving up on the Xbox dOne because of the policies Microsoft tried to introduce *though we all know Sony had intentions of doing the same but saw the backlash and backed off so they wouldn't have to save face later*

I won't get an xbox dOne for this reason. any one thats giving up on MS because of kinect, system power or the obvious nitpicky sheen complaints needs to give up on gaming because those aren't valid reasons.

Way i'm looking at it is. No online fee's, Free content, Steam sales, multiple uses, Can use keyboard / mouse my 360 controllers, My Wiimote / nunchuck, Exclusives i'd actually purchase, multi platform games are released upon it unlike the WiiU. I can upgrade when i want to rather than when MS and Sony say so.

I have no problem with Kinect. I thought the original hardware was decent, but did have some lag. This new Kinect is 10x's better. The price is still a bit high though. They should have priced it at $450 or less, but Microsoft didn't want to lose a mint off the hardware. I'm hoping the Kinect games that do get released are substantially better then the ones on the XBox 360. The gamers who are complaining about this are hardcore gamers and millions of bias fanboys who don't want Microsoft to be as success as they were last generation. Many of the people bitching about Kinect have never even used it. lol!!

Many gamers abandoned the Playstation last generation and didn't come running back until the PS3 Slim was launched. Same thing might happen this generation with the XBox One. Fans who don't care for Kinect will wait until the price of the system drops or a Kinectless XBox One gets released before they jump on board. I still think the XBox One will sell millions and millions of units.

Ditto. I'm buying them for the GAMES. Kinect is just a bonus to me. Gamers will come back eventually once more great exclusives get released. Everyone abandoned the PS3 for the first 2 years as well. Then the PS3 Slim launched and everyone flocked back to it. LOL!! Say thing will happen with the XBox One. Once the price is right and the games are in place, gamers will return.

We don't know anything about Sony and what they had planned. People assume, but nothing has ever been proven. Is it possible they would have instituted their own if the community embraced MS's policies? Sure. Anything more than that is supposition at best.

Reason I freaken hate them now... THE BIGGEST REASON!

IS...

Because they GD lied about backwards compat. Then made the smart ass remark on it.

So they can shove that console up where the sun don't shine.

I want to slap people who complain about the NSA when they're most likely either typing on a smart phone with a camera pointed at them or a computer with a camera pointed at them...  Bu bu bu but the NSA wants to examine my skills at kinect golf.

Don't care.

Buying Xbox One and PS4 day one.

blackace

Once the price is right and the games are in place, gamers will return.

that's because the Ps3 had no games... Same thing that happened/it happening to the Wii U. X1 will be shunned for different reasons.

Complete change of philosophy

NathanDrakeSwag

People sticking with Xbox next gen are following a brand name now. Xbone is a complete 180 from what the Xbox and 360 were.

Basically.

Sure...

Spend over $3,000 on games for a system and then have to deal with keeping your old system around.

I am sticking with last gen. I don't see any reason to upgrade. Last gen had HD gaming and Bluray. What does this gen have? Some cloud bollocks...SolidSnake35

Particles....particles everywhere!

I've been looking at acquiring a gaming PC simply because I want no compromises, but everything is just way too expensive ($1000 up). I don't have that kind of money to invest.

Even if Sony gave me a PS4 for free. I still wouldn't use it.  Would sell it to get an X1.
