@goatcheese
You can build a gaming PC that will far out perform the PS4 and One for $750.00 providing you don't need to buy a monitor or can use your HDTV as your monitor.

I'm no MS fan, never was. Went from Dreamcast to PS2 in 2006, right when 360 launched but I will say this..
It's funny how the XBOX came out and was powerful
Xbox360 even had better RAM and GPU than PS3
But X1 is weaker in every dimension and it's greatest asset is a camera

People sticking with Xbox next gen are following a brand name now. Xbone is a complete 180 from what the Xbox and 360 were.
Off Topic: You say that as if there arent cows doing the same. On Topic: Im going with PS4 first this gen because it seems to be the better gaming console. I will admit i will miss the NFL package of XB1, but ill continue to get my game by other means.I'm moving to PC. In the long run it will work out cheaper and more gamezzz.dobzilianWelcome to the club. Not sure it will work out cheaper, though. You'll pay just as much, but you'll way more games. :P
I wouldn't call myself an Xbox fan...I just preferred the 360 this gen. Â Just like how I believed the PS2 trumped the original xbox the year before that. Â Basically, I have no ties to any company. Never will.
With that said, I'm continuing my streak of switching up and going with Sony this time around.
The price and forced kinect is meh to me. They simply do not have the developers to make quality exclusives for a whole generation and I do not think they are willing to buy enough of them off to make exclusive games for the xbone.
[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]I am sticking with last gen. I don't see any reason to upgrade. Last gen had HD gaming and Bluray. What does this gen have? Some cloud bollocks...Spartan070New relesaes? I don't think I'll finish the games for last gen before I'm 65.
I definitetly am, I can't believe Microsoft wants me to buy their underpowered console when Sony offers better for less money.FoxbatAIphaLol fakeboy is fakeboy.
Kinect is no longer required to be connected so that's false. Also I doubt it has watered down specs to compensate for the kinect. Honestly the power of console isn't what sells it otherwise 360 would've been destroyed by PS3. X1 at this point is simply bringer better games to a lesser console. The biggest annoyance is the fact that the extra $100 you have to drop at launch is for the stupid kinect which i can see coming in a kinect-less discounted package down the road, but whatever its useful with the TV/voice features and that stuff looks kinda cool, just not $100 coolBecause of Kinect being a requirement for X1 and because MS have chosen lower specs to compensate for Kinect?
MS' former consoles used to have pretty "cutting-edge" tech for consoles in the past, but with X1 this seems to be changing thanks to Kinect.
I think the higher price wouldn't be the issue if it also had the higher-spec hardware to accomodate the price.
Several "hardcore" gamers would prefer a more powerful system, even if it ment a higher price tag.
The original Kinect already made a divide in the Xbox fan-base, with some greeting it and some hating it.
I suppose the bigger "haters" will just switch to PS4 and/or PC, instead of further support MS.
Â
What about you?
Are you among those who liked MS' consoles before but are now abandoning them thanks to Kinect and lower specs?

I'll be getting both the PS4 and XBone. Just because the XBone is less powerful doesn't mean that there won't be great games for it. Take PS2 compared to Xbox, PS2 was garbage specs wise compared to the Xbox, we all know how that gen turned out.

Yes and no.
You are right that, in the greater scheme of things, better specs don't decide the sales' winner by themselves, still, comparing system's specs is kinda the essence of SW, or atleast that's what I was led to believe...
For example the first Xbox had superior specs to the PS2 and altho the PS2 beat it in sales by a wide margin, the Xbox was still praised by the fans for it's superior capabilities (which ment best console multi-plats and prettiest exclusives), hard drive, organized online, ect.
So I don't agree that it's not what sells consoles, albeit to lesser extent. (more important things are marketing, pricing and developer support)
Also, the thread is not about what sells consoles but if some people have the sentiment that MS somehow "betrayed" them...
Take PS2 compared to Xbox, PS2 was garbage specs wise compared to the Xbox, we all know how that gen turned out.

Yes, PS2 sold far better.
That doesn't mean people who prefered the Xbox didn't exist tho. ;)

I haven't been a PC gamer since 2004, :P. I'm slightly interested in building a new rig. I miss out on several PC experiences this gen. Especially being able to run everything on MAX settings. I just don't know what GPU, Mobo, and CPU combo would outperform the PS4 & Xbone greatly for under $800@goatcheese

I switched back then from PS2 to original Xbox. Well not switched because I didn't throw PS2 away however xbox got a lot more usage and it was only because of Halo 2 on lan. Didn't really care which was more powerful, hell I didn't even know back then what hardware these systems packed in.Â
The reason was a game that I wanted to play and what that console could do that other consoles couldn't, efortless LAN gaming. Installing all the games on HDD and never needing discs anymore was another reason too. It was functionality and one game not power.Â
That said then was then and now is now. Will One have that killer game again and will it dwarf PS4 functionality wise?Â
same. I like what I've seen games wise for x1, know it will be better than ps3/360 and I had a blast with them. If I wanted graphics first, I'd go PC.Doesn't bother me at all. It can digitally recreate myself in games with a create-a-character and I can turn the system on while I'm taking off my work clothes. If that's all the use I ever get out of it that's ok with me.

Or maybe they like the 360 exclusives better, or maybe they also enjoy the many games that will appear on the xbone that aren't on PS4 that cows like to pretend don't exist because they can't be put in the "exclusive" list, or maybe they prefer the controller. Also the games between the two systems are going to be pretty much the same again(every gen Sony proclaims this extreme power that we never see). The xbone will be able to do everything the PS4 can, but the PS4 can't do everything the xbone can. I think it'll be pretty funny if/when there is a "killer app" for kinect, the crying will be hilarious.Only problem with the xbone is that it wont have any exclusive games..its on PC too. I know a lot of people who is going for PS4 and PC ..please dont compare the PS2 to the xbox one..PS2 is an legendary console..I'll be getting both the PS4 and XBone. Just because the XBone is less powerful doesn't mean that there won't be great games for it. Take PS2 compared to Xbox, PS2 was garbage specs wise compared to the Xbox, we all know how that gen turned out.

At the beginning of this last gen I leaned more towards the 360, after a few years i started favoring the PS3 because of the Live fees and my unfortunate run with RRoD. Now this upcoming gen, I am leaning more towards the One again because it just looks like it has the better lineup. I am getting both at launch, but I am more hyped for the One than the PS4. There are 5 exclusives I want on the One at launch (Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, Ryse, Crimson Dragon, and Killer instinct) while I only want one exclusive game on the PS4 at launch (Killzone SF). Now I am super hyped for Infamous SS, which is looking phenomenal and a great addition to one of the best series and most underrated series of this last gen.

Personal experience, my friends that play UFC and get Madden every single year are wanting a X1. My friends that play anything else are getting a PS4.
I dumped my 360 for a PS3 when MS put up that ridiculous paywall called XBLG. It's absurd that you have to pay for that just to use things like Netflix or Amazon Prime when you're already paying for those services.
You dumped your 360 for a PS3 for something MS implemented prior to the release of the 360? :| :lol:I dumped my 360 for a PS3 when MS put up that ridiculous paywall called XBLG. It's absurd that you have to pay for that just to use things like Netflix or Amazon Prime when you're already paying for those services.

Not at all...once people have a family and see how much fun they have with Kinect....it's a no brainer..

Unfortunately people on this board, who are a small cross section of the overall consumer base for home video game consoles, think that they are the primary consumer focus group. People are going to be buying these consoles for all different reasons, and the large majority of them won't give a crap about theoretical power differences.
You are right, if you have a family and have played Kinect with them, you would see its value and why a lot of people are so excited about Kinect 2.
I don't know, at one point I was 99% sure I was gonna ditch Xbox One for PS4 ... although I didn't really want to. Felt like I was being forced into it. Since then they've reversed most of the bad policies and although they haven't done anything major with the hardware they have made some small tweaks that make it sound a little better. So now I'm leaning a little towards PS4 but have another foot in the undecided column as well. If they improve the GPU in a significant way (They won't :( ) I'll pick Xbox One for sure.
Who knows, maybe I'll even end up getting both of them. If so it would be the first time I've done that since Genesis and SNES. But that can only happen if Xbox One's graphics processing stays as it is said to be now. If they were to close that gap I wouldn't bother with PS4 at all.

Xbox was the "go-to" console (considering you didn't have a gaming PC) if you were a FP shooter and WRPG fan and a fan of Tecmo's and Sega's games and liked online gaming, hard drive storage and superior multi-plats and visuals and it was moddable, even.
While PS2 had the larger library of games, not everyone prefered it's games or it's capabilities.

I think people are gonna be disappointed with KI. The game was OK but nostalgia is causing people to remember it as being better than what it was.
