Why did you give up on them?
Oh god, he thought of this since yesterday, and now needs to validate the fact that there's three more people that outgrew Fromsoft bangers. You must see that HIGHEST RATED DLC EVER MADE, and it just bothers you, doesn't it? That's what you get for bitchin' about a non issue.
Have already been validated, Hardwenzen, already got several responses.

Me.
Gave up on them because of the increased focus on action but without any improvements to action gameplay. FromSoftware's boss combat sucks and always has sucked.
Since deliberate map design, cool online interactions and good music are long gone, there's no reason at all to play FromSoft games.
Been a fan of From Soft games since I played a JP import of Armored Core 1 on a modded PS1. Gave up halfway through Dark Souls 3 (never finished the game). I'm just tired of the formula by now, especially since the combat mechanics barely improve in a meaningful way. In some way they keep getting worse as From Soft feels compelled to escalate the boss design to keep the veteran fans engaged. Wouldn't say I'm a former fan as I will still gladly go back and play their PS1 & PS2 games. I'm just completely done with the Souls formula and ready for something entirely unique. Unfortunately Elden Ring has hit an entirely new audience for whom the formula is still new and novel so they still have another 10 years to milk the formula before it runs completely dry for everyone else.
After Dark Souls 3(never played Sekiro since I don't like the setting of it).
I found original Dark Souls 2 lacking in many aspects (world building, graphics, multiplayer), and thus was heavily disappointed by it. Therefore my hype for Dark Souls 3was pretty low. Turns out Dark Souls 3 was as worse as Dark Souls 2, because it moved the whole gameplay aspect into a completely different direction (with main offenders being roll spam becoming the norm, game being too linear, and normal poise from DS1 gone). Elden Ring fucked up multiplayer even more, and the open world aspect was completely unnecessary (with the game having flaws that every other big open world also has). I found that game to be a really bore to play through.
Maybe I just grew tired of the whole formula, but I am pretty much done with the Souls series as a whole really.
I am still a fan, but I have definitely grown disillusioned with them. Their basic souls formula was a breath of fresh air in 2008 but ever since dark souls 3 its been getting stale.
Every new game they repeat the same mistake of not really bothering to tutorialize their progressively twitchier mechanics. The counter productive focus on difficulty and story delivery that at this point is more about being obtuse than telling... well anything.
I still enjoy their output and will play the shadow of the erdetree but I already fully expect that I will need to mod several parts of it to make it less annoying(like putting in FP regen).
I still like their stuff, I'll probably still buy their next "souls" game.
But admittedly I'm fatigued on their combat gameplay. It's fine, serviceable, compared to the slum ass gameplay that ARPGs typically had, it came out smelling like roses. But it's really a bit too basic to lean on across so many games. I still enjoy their level design. Their art, atmosphere n vibes really do the heavy lifting. But their moment to moment play no longer keeps me engaged through the entirety of their games. I get bored. I tried forcing Elden Ring so many times, finally just had to hang it up. If I ever get over this Souls slump, it'll be there.
Sucks really, they clearly make high effort games with a lot of cool shit. Wish I could still enjoy them the way I did when they were fresh.
I will allow you to vent. You deserve it.
While everyone will be playing THE BEST DLC EVER CONCEIVED, you will be telling others that you have lost interest in the genre that HAS ONLY IMPROVED.
Bravo.
I only like Bloodborne. And demon Souls.
You're so god damn weird. Years of wasting your life on Apex must've fried lots of brain cells, bro.
Elden Ring was far past my gaming level,I admit that. I barely played 15-20 minutes in and it kicked my a**.lol,I’m embarrassed by it to be honest. I’m sure ER was among some of the best games in recent memory but it’s just not for me,and probably needed more practice?

This is exactly how TC felt. These games became too fast and difficult for him. Unlike you, he refuses to admit it, and is in search of others that are in the same situation that he is in.

I told you that one of my problems with them is that they became faster and faster with combat not built for it. That the enemies got ever more stamina and tricky attack delays took over because the inbred system doesn't have anything left to offer existing players. That intuition is now punished.
No one in the industry makes games as good as theirs, even when they de emphasize important action game mechanics like *spacing* (sekiro is basically a music game, dark souls 3 also has this issue to a lesser extent, elden ring does as well but not as bad as dark souls 3 dlc bosses).
Despite their fumbling to appeal to a larger audience in their later 'souls' games, they are still walking all over every other dev easily. I will likely buy their next game
I’m an OG FromSoftware fan. Liked them since the first King’s Field game. Got back into their games with Demon’s Souls when it first came out on the PS3. Totally loved it and have been thoroughly enjoying their games since then. Elden Ring is my current favourite of theirs and one of my all time favourite games ever. I’m enjoying their work now more then ever.

What the hell do you mean? The game has a pretty simple combat system, which is perfectly fitting for faster paced action. And the delayed attacks that's in ER were heavily criticized, so you might be in luck, and there might be none in the dlc. I wasn't a fan of them either, so there's that.
I never played any of From Software's games as I am not a fan of violent and punishingly-difficult games. I play video games to be entertained, not to be punished.
Well, maybe if they focused on AI, how the enemies worked together, they could continue to milk this tired system, but obviously they're not gonna do that. Their enemies are dumb as bricks. Enemies keep getting stun-locked as they can barely deal with one enemy at the rear while fighting the one in front.
Who'd be a former fan? I can only fathom it's butthurt Sony fanboys upset they're making less exclusives but still making multiplatform titles that can be enjoyed across a number of gaming devices including PlayStation consoles. People like this:
Fan is too strong of a classification for me. I enjoyed some of their games and that is all there is to it. The studio, developer, company worship that some gamers subscribed to is weird. That doesn't mean one can't enjoy or appreciate consistency of products from companies.
I think the original Demons Souls is amazing, and most of their games are top notch. Problem is, I get bored really fast, and then the diminishing returns set in. The last one I played was Bloodborne, and I'm still not really in the mood for another.
I was hoping Armored Core would be great, but I'm not so sure it was.
Don't really enjoy Japanese games to be honest, so I wouldn't say I'm a big fan.
I respect and acknowledge their talent, though, and view them as a positive force in video game development.

I'll be honest, i cringe every time i hear this. A game like Dragon's Dogma 2 or fromsoft games are as non Japanese as they come. If you didn't knew they were made in Japan, you'd bet Dark Souls comes from somewhere in Europe.

Nah, the design, the art direction. The aesthetic, if you will. The clunky interface you often find. The writing and voice acting. Character design. All indicative of Japanese game development.
I don't think I'd mistake it for anything other than Japanese development.
Not coming from a place of racism or xenophobia, mind you, and I will eat crow when I do stumble across a new Japanese game I enjoy...but I just can tell and I just don't like the games. There is definitely a certain "feeling" to Japanese games and I don't like it.
This is the same thing for "Eurojank" games. I can always tell when a game comes from Germany or East Europe or what have you.

The ART DIRECTION??????????????????? Voice acting? BRO. There's nothing Japanese in anything you've mentioned.
The only thing that you might consider as weeb/japanese are oversized swords, but this is not exclusive to Japanese games, and it adds different mechanics/playstyles to the game, so its better to have it than not.

Its too competitive and hard for you its why you settle on souls.
Its competitive, but so is CSGO or LoL. Are you playing this trash? You aren't. If you turn on your brain, competitiveness is not what makes the game fun. Competitiveness is the cherry on top, not the cake itself. Next time you want to get yourself into a multiplayer game, think of that before getting into it, or you might lose another third of your brain cells😥
not sure if i am or not, beat 1st 2 dark souls games, had dark souls 3 never got around to beating it, got bloodbourne never got around to beating it, got sekero never got around to beating it, really should get around to trying to beat elden ring...but rather play super mario sunshine, or trackmania, or cyber bomb rush or Megaman X, or Donkey Kong Country 2 or sonic frontiers or tekken or anything because elden ring is more of the same ole dark souls grind and its borring gameplay.. but im a sucker for the enemy designs and style

Hey man, I don't know what to tell you. I can always tell based on a collection of things. Sometimes they're not all there but usually a few of these elements are there and I think "Wow, this interface is super clunky, the story is very melodramatic, and all the men are either so feminine they look like girls or so masculine they look like an Andrew Tate wet dream. This feels like a Japanese game *looks up developer* Yup it's a Japanese game! Oh and there goes a mech, yup, definitely a Japanese game..."
This is just my preference though and entirely subjective, but it's not founded on no reason.
The only game that almost had me fooled was Binary Domain.

Bro, you rage quit Apex after years of playing because you weren't able to go past the Silver Division😥Let me hold your hand, help you go through the beginner's devision, and then we'll talk about me and my incredible success in gaming😁

I think that is how I feel about it.
When Demons Souls came out, it was quite refreshing considering that THIS was typical ARPG combat.
Souls really stood out, because outside of M&B, Dark Messiah and Ys. It completely eclipsed every other ARPG in terms of combat.
However, nowadays... ARPGs have come a long way. Not to mention, I went back and played a lot of pure action games. Games like God Hand, Ninja Gaiden, DMC, Bayonetta. Not to mention, I suddenly grew a taste for Fighting Games.
What once impressed me, no longer does so. I agree Souls stilll has good art, atmosphere and vibes. Hell, even back with Demons Souls the poor technical graphics didnt bother me since the art was so good.

Hi :)
I've never been a fan. I played Dark Souls Remastered. Beat it was kind of like, meh, this isn't for me. There were times I felt a sense of accomplishment for defeating a difficult boss but it never felt fun, or enjoyable.
However, that doesn't mean I don't see that they are spectacular games. They just aren't games for me.

How you gonna hold my hands when u that bad, games refuses to rank you 😭
I don't like their games. I don't like the constant feelings of dread and despair. I don't like the look of their games. Very washed out graphics. I don't like the weird narrative, nor the way it is told. Voice acting that sounds AI-generated, with characters just standing there. No. I am simply not having fun when I play a Souls game.
Compare to God of War and the difference is night and day imo 😎.
I can't say I don't care for them but the hype is kind of gone too, for me. When you know exactly what to expect it's difficult to get that excited.
Not a fan. Played Demon's Souls, maybe finished 2/3 of the game, then got bored with it. Played Bloodborne and it was a great game, but I didn't play much, however, definitely going to go back to it. Played and finished ER, it is a very good game tbh. But I'm not interested to play the dlc.
Oh and I played and finished Sekiro. Now this game is a masterpiece. Imo it's the best Fromsoftware game. PERIOD.
I'm going to go back to Bloodborne to finish that one.

lol. Everything you said is why I love Souls games. Except the "very washed out graphics" and "voices that sound AI generated", which I just think is wrong. Yeah, DS1 and DS2 look rough. They're old. Dark Souls 3, Sekiro and Elden Ring look fantastic, and the voice acting is great. Better than most games.
I freaking loathe God of War. Night and day indeed.

"Loathe", that is a strong word 😅!

nope, that's just what british people sound like :)
Ok, fair enough! But the British people I've encountered at least move around freely, and don't just stand there bobbing their heads.
