First of all, what does that have to do with anything related to the game being washed out? Secondly, i have calibrated my monitor since the first week i got it in 2019, so you shouldn't be assuming shit just to make a point that doesn't exist.
Your brightness and contrast must be at 20% lmao. Everything will look dull with these kind of settings. Did you even calibrated your tv/monitor? Cuz your colors remind me of someone playing a 360 game on a shitty Samsung monitor from 2006.

My TV doesn't affect screenshots, lol. What screenshot tool do you know that reads your display's settings? How would it even communicate with the display settings? Those screenshots were taken with the standard game settings in SDR mode. If they look desaturated on your display, then it means YOUR display is not calibrated correctly. Bring the color down, to get accustomed to correct color.

I have no idea how you've taken your picture, but it looks dark, as in barely any brightness on the screen and its not even night time. I have a 27GL850 monitor, and by default its settings are already super accurate, which i have slightly tweaked, and usually use the hdr mode for singleplayer games. Your fugliness that you're showing me does not exist in my game, so get your monitor checked.

Why did you tell me what monitor you have? What does that have to do with this? The monitor doesn't determine the color of the screenshot.

In-game brightness was at 5/10.
Your game seems saturated beyond the intention of the developer.

Because if you're using some shitty monitor from 20 years ago, don't expect the same kind of contrast that's available now. Plus HDR mode is a thing, and even tho most monitors don't have real hdr, its still superior to to sdr for singleplayer games. And no, my monitor isn't over saturated, it looks as it should🤷♂️ Not to mention that you're seeing my pics on your monitor, do they look washed out? no🤷♂️
Maybe because you're playing in HDR. Can't judge with HDR, since screenshots don't show it. Should post screenshots taken in SDR.
I am only in HDR when playing a game, not when i am typing on a forum, and seeing my pics in SDR, they look perfectly fine with no washed out visuals whatsoever.

Again, I have not tampered with the in-game color or brightness in any way. My display does not determine the in-game brightness. If my screenshots look washed out on your monitor, then you're doing something wrong.

If your monitor is set with very little contrast and brightness, you're supposed to adjust that in game like everyone else.

Lol
These in-game brightness adjusters are nearly always stupid. Even at 0/10, the image on the right doesn't come anywhere close to disappearing on my TV. If I made the right symbol almost disappear, the game would be very dim, as is the case almost every time. No, I will not set custom profiles for each game in AMD Adrenaline Edition.
My screenshots show how the game is supposed to look in SDR. I can't do anything with your HDR screenshots, since I don't know if the screen capture software is converting them to SDR correctly.

Its not supposed to disappear, but become barely visible. And nobody said that you should waste time to set a custom profile either. Something is wrong with your monitor, you're having non issues.
Ok. My games are sharp. You play on console or something?
We must have a different meaning of washed out. Not talking about sharpness, talking about color timing.
I know nothing about that stuff. Hate the chromatic aberration though. WIthout that, I wouldn't complain about anything regarding the visuals.
This is washed out. This is Roger Deakins.
The cherry picked screenshot with heavy screen tearing looks washed out? Oh no. What about all those other screenshots that look awesome?
@hardwenzen: I don't know how you thought that I believed it was supposed to disappear.
"doesn't come anywhere close to disappearing"
"If I made the right symbol almost disappear"
Again, something is wrong with your display if you think my screenshots are too dim. It suggests that you have your content too saturated all the time and are used to that.

Does this looks washed out to you? No. Is it too dim? No. Your calibration is a mess. The colors in ER are what they should be. Not overly colorful like Bioshiock, but far from being dull as well. Time for you to calibrated your monitor, and remember to thank ER for forcing you to do so.

You don't understand how screenshot capture works.
And, yes, that does look Roger Deakins-esque. On my desktop monitor as well. Like there's a permanent cloud over the whole land.

I understand how it works perfectly fine. You show me screenshots with no color on them, as if you were looking at a wall of rocks. No shit it looks dull, its one color on your screen. I took this picture with actual colors on the screen, so if this looks dull to you, on YOUR monitor, then you have a massive issue with your monitor.
@warm_gun: Yeah, ER is pretty foggy. Never really thought about it much, but it does make the world seem more dreamlike. Which I'm not opposed to. It's supposed to be some kind of limbo, right? So it fits.
Aside from that, there's some seriously beautiful looking places in the game. The art direction is pretty sweet and makes up for shortcomings.
@hardwenzen: Your screenshot looks dull on my phone as well. That's three different displays. Despite your game/GPU colors probably being high. The fog makes the world blander. Light sources can't properly shine through that fog.
I guess you're someone who needs Fortnite colors for it to not look "dull"? The saturation is more than fine in ER, in fact, its perfect for what they're going for, so its a you issue, not the game's.

Last Guardian not Fornite either, but can almost feel the warmth of light, has beautiful contrasts. Elden Ring just kind of flat.

Loved their games. But i kinda prefer the agressive and fast pace style of bloodborne and sekiro compared to the old formula like the souls series. Nonetheless my favorite dev this gen.
After i played fromsoftware games, i have to take a brief break in gaming because its hard for me to enjoy other games.
Honestly they are one of the most overhyped studios out there. Right up there with Rockstar. That said I buy most of both of their games, because.. why not?

Raised blacks, yeah. Reminds me of The Batman cinematography, where nothing is black.

On an HDR screen it look perfectly fine. And their engine isn't exactly advanced, so don't expect realistic shadows all over the environment.
I have been a fan since October 6th, 2009, the day Demon's Souls released on the PS3 in the US. I was blown away by how it felt like a 3d Metroidvania with more meticulous cotrols and bosses that could punish if attempted without the correct upgrades and/or skill level. I loved the sense off being thrown into a level and needing to figure out shortcuts and where to go.
Dark Souls 1 just added to that with its connected world.
Dark Souls 2 was a bit of a letdown, but I still enjoyed it more than a lot of other games out there.
Bloodborne blew me away. It is still among my favorite games.
Dark Souls 3 was phenomenal, and I enjoyed it a lot.
Sekiro was different, but the combat mechanics are amazing once they are mastered. It definitely feels different enough to feel fresh.
Elden Ring is possibly my favorite game of all time. The exploration, world design, enemies, and bosses are all just amazing.
Elden Ring DLC. I haven't made it there on my new playthrough, but I am very hyped to play what I am thinking will be the greatest DLC ever released.
Nope, I have not turned my back on them, in fact, they are the only developer I don't question buying their games day 1. Everyone else I generally wait for sales, but with the hours I get out of a Soulsborne game, I will happily pay full price.
I've played Fromsoftware games since 1999 with the early tenchu games, when they killed tenchu I stopped bothering with them completely.
Why? Their current offerings are far superior to whatever that they've made back then.

The dlc is superior to the core game. Absolute magnum opus.

Oh don't get me wrong they make really good stuff from what I've seen. I guess you could say I got salty haha and honestly I need to get over that.
I might aim to get some this holiday season during the good sales.
Since couldn't beat Margit, went south, came to Castle Morne. Found another try-hard shit boss. Series been serving the same consumers for too long. Inbred. Just circling around, rolling, rolling, rolling, as they do these spinning attacks, all the time. Sick of being hit as soon as I attack the enemy. They can hit so suddenly and swiftly, but my mentally challenged character can't even hold his sword in a ready stance for a quicker hit (or parry).
After I said that, they asked me what weapon I'm using. Like that makes a difference. Recommended me the katana, so I said...
'Kay, let's look at your katana. I haven't found one in Elden Ring, but assume it's still mostly the same as fifteen years ago, since they only make one game.
Same as my example of the four European stances, Shit-for-Brains holds the sword neutrally down at her side, even when locked on, making the action less responsive as you have to watch her pull back before she can strike. FromSoftware keeps making enemy animations quicker, weirder and harder to read, while doing very little with your movesets.
I once forgave these things because their games gave me what I couldn't find anywhere else, but they've become so fucking boring.
I don't even move the lock-on from shit button R3 because there is no hold option. Prefer holding shoulder button or trigger because you actively feel when you are in Z-targeting mode and strafing is just built in even when there is no target. Can't do that with shit button R3 because it can't be held easily at an angle. Toggling is SHIT.
Not to mention the cam getting locked while targeting. Shit-for-Brains can't turn neck to see self back towards fall while fighting.
You're literally mad at a video game, a 10/10 video game at that🤢🤭🤣
So what do you think about the saturation in my Dark Souls II pics? Looks fine, right? Yeah, it's Elden Ring, not my setup. Game is just visually muted, like discount Roger Deakins.

I don't remember anything about dks2 visuals outside of the crushed blacks it had. Do you have HDR on your monitor?

My TV has HDR, but I'm not gonna take any Elden Ring screenshots in HDR mode because it's impossible to tell what it actually looks like from a screenshot. We can only judge the color grading of the SDR mode here.

There is a difference in color, and especially light sources like the sky WHICH is always colorful. I played in SDR for about an hour today, just to remind myself when i played everything in sdr, and its certainly inferior. If you have HDR, you have zero reasons not to use it.
@tikloguy: turn the difficulty up in God of war. You say you don't like difficult games, but I guarantee you will have more fun with it this way. That will be a stepping stone to demons souls, dark souls etc.
The main problem I have is that they keep on putting bloodborne/sekiro style aggresive enemies into souls games where you don't really have the tools to deal with them. So all you can really do is i-frame roll spam, it just doesn't look or feel good.
