Many games involve shooting, but are really in different genres:
Uncharted - action/adventure game with lots of platforming and shooting
Ratchet and Clank - platformer with awesome weapons and lots of shooting
inFamous - action/adventure sandbox game with electrical powers that function like guns
These games do successfully break up the pace of true shooters like Resistance or Killzone. There are also plenty of great games in other genres like action/adventure games, RPGs, racers, fighter, and hybrids like Borderlands or Valkyria Chronicles which combine RPG and shooting elements.
Sounds like you've bought into the crap that jeleous sheep are always spouting about how gaming is nothing but shooters nowadays... good games are good games, each with their own unique expieriences
