Yeah... honestly, why even have reviews these days when the whole Internet can't understand the point of a review, and chases any difference in opinion with a pitcfork, while the baseline is a flawed aggregate full of inconsistencies?

Everyone seems to complain about Tom but how about Carolyn and his/her need to factor in personal political/social views into EVERYTHING. Shouldn't their be a boundary between personal and professional point of views?Double_Wide

My problem isn't so much with the reviews as it is the reviewer. When you're name is synonymous with troll and flop, there's a problem.

The reviews seem spot on to me.

It is one persons opinion.. I think The Last Of Us deserves 9/10 but at the same time I can understand his issues (other than the characters not being likable or enjoyable). A 8/10 is not a bad score at all and was NOT the worst score for The Last of Us.

People need to remember that reviews are just one persons opinion, EVERYONE will ahve there own opinions about games.

I mean seriously? Who cares about scores! I thought Lost Odyssye, Alpha Protocol and The last of Us all were better games than the GS score, but in the end who cares about a point or two lower than what you want? Its just one reviewer and one game!

So what if he gave a few low scores? He also gave some very high scores (Mario Galaxy 2).

It is not some conspiracy theory, the dude just didnt love the same games you do, get over it.

I dont cry when my fav games get low scores from Kevin, who the F cares. Yes this is about TOM, and his personal opinion. You understand what that is? Who says he should copy what others give certain games? What would be the point of reviews then?

Innovation,fun factor,replayability and several other.

Rather on this character been of your liking or not,which is why reviewers this days are a joke,look at E3 Titanfall won best Original game,WTF does that game does that hasn't been done to hell and beyond on this industry,because even been a pay exclusive has been done before.

To be honest i think exclusives are often too highly rated. I feel like fanboy expectations taint the review process, as the reviewer knows a high score will get him alot of praise and a low score will get him a huge backlash. I have a feeling most exclusive games would be given lower scores if they were multiplats.

In the same way fanboys tend to overrate exclusives, i think reviewers do to.

EDIT: just as a caveat i should say im not familiar with tom McShea's reviews and i havent played TLOU yet, so im not making a comment in regards to this specific scenario, just general game reviewing practices.

although i think it should have scored higher, i can kind of see where he's coming from. if you don't like the character you're playing, it can affect your enjoyment of the game.

especially after watching the spoilercast they did, how anyone can be so clueless is really amazing.

I might not agree with his reviews but at least we know he's probably not getting paid on the side.

The faults that Tom Mc Shea points out are almost laughable. Supporting characters rarely being sympathetic is one of them. The game is portrayed as a dog eat dog world, it is post apocalypta after all. It almost seems like he is struggling to justify his rating by throwing in nonexistent issues. If he wanted an answer to this issue he would only have to read the first few lines of his review, "everyone must steal, must kill, must do whatever it takes to survive." Yes! well done Tom, although you must have expected selfless characters when humanity has reached an all time low, maybe we should have called it The Last Of Altruism instead.

The game doesn't have to be groundbreaking or perfect to merit a score higher than 8.0. I haven't came across a single reason that stands as to why this game deserves 8.0. Rather, a bunch of pretentious morons who would rather exclaim that I don't understand what constitutes a good game.

I have one simple test, take a look at gamespots top ratings for this generation and look at the scores higher than 8.0. I struggle to see many that are better, yet there's a profound amount.

The Last of Us flopped here..

but yeah I don't like Tom either. 

I've never been a big fan of Tom McShea because he kinda just trolls in his reviews. I think it's been pretty obvious ever since his inFamous 2 review; that thing was just sad.
