So, I woke up early and kept refreshing the page waiting for the RTX 5090 to drop. It finally did and I was able to add to cart on the Best Buy site. I thought I will get a 5090 little did I know it puts you in a que and it kept me waiting and it then kicked me out forcing me to log back in and by that time it was gone which is not surprising. I found the entire episode kind of stupid, why am I waking up early losing sleep just to get a card that costs $2000 and not getting anything in the end. It’s not like it’s Black Friday and I am saving money. I find the concept of sitting on my a** waiting for a card to drop ridiculous and a total waste of time. I shouldn’t have to scramble this much especially considering the fact that we are not in the middle of a mining boom. What happened to the good old days of selecting the card you want and checking it and always being in stock. I think might as well wait to get a RTX 5080 (at least when the 24GB) version drops. It will be a descent upgrade from my last NVIDIA GPU the RTX 3090 or get a 4090 if I could find one.
So, how many were you able to get one? Is the 5000 series really worth it? I was hoping to keep the streak of buying every other generation over the past 20 years going every since the GeForce 7600 GT going.
Maybe time to switch back to AMD after 7+ years. Hopefully they will have 9070 series in stock.
And from what Hardware Unboxed showed at CES with FSR 4 AMD might have caught up with NVIDIA with upscaling.

What do you guys think the 5000 series worth it or should I break my 20 year cycle of upgrading every other generation of GPU purchases and get a 40 series like the 4090?
