wow, i've heard so many people say that nintendo is killing the gaming industry, from foamingpanda to mangobear, will these idiots please give it a rest? Expanding the market is NOT killing gaming, all the wii haters right now are looking pretty pathetic

As of right now the Wii doesn't impress me with it's games; the controller is great, but the games I really want for it don't come out until late this year.

Sales also indicate that The Matrix was a better game than Eternal Darkness :|

Also it's not just graphics, have you looked at the Wii's top scoring games? More than half of them are on the VC, one of them is Madden :| Pretty much the only good game that you haven't played before is Wario.

I honestly can't see where you came up with this response. Someone says that the games on sale so far haven't impressed them, and whilst the controller is great, there aren't any games they want until later in the year. So the obvious answer to that is to say that is stupid. Why did you bring graphics into it? DementedDragon didn't. In fact what you told DD to play games for (fun) is the reason they don't like the Wii so far - the Wii's games are not fun in their opinion.

Threads like these are utterly pointless. All it is is willy waving from a bunch of people too blinkered by their respective systems to appreciate that perhaps there is room for more than one system.

And why do you think that is? Publishers KNOW that the gaming market, as a result of sonys popularity and assembly line production of insanes amount of sequels (the same game being sold over and over to the same exact market), you can make ALOT of money by making subpar products for popular platforms (like wii) as long as you have name brand recognition .... an IP to attach the shoddy port/spinoff too. But even THEN more and more games that are intended to be quick cash ins on popular franchises are surpassing their counterparts on other systems DESPITE being poor ports with added wii controls; because full motion activity is FAR MORE FUN than pushing a button. Take Tiger Woods 2007......from all the reviews, even though the scores are equal or lower than the counterparts, it seems that this game, as a golf game, is FAR more interactive and far more fun. Reviewers dock points BECAUSE they know its a techinically bad port (bad textures, ported engine, not much effort put into the BUILD of the game) yet they go on to describe the game as being much more fun than just pushing a button 3 times.....because it IS more fun. And because of this games, despite being poor ports, like TW07 sell alot of copies and turn an IMMENSE profit because of the lack of production (you dont have to spend millions of dollars trying to make it HD......especially when the controls make the game so more fun than the x360/ps3 versions). You have to look at the industry as a whole; its not nintendo's fault that publishers (and their contracted devs) are doing the bare minimum......the last gen set the bar so low for game quality such that it allows for bad ports to be made and then sell. Now that they are coming to the Wii with superior gameplay and control the bar is being CONTINUOUSLY RAISED because of the massive innovation presented by the Wiimote. Thinking things through is fun; you should try it sometime, son.

And why do you think that is? Publishers KNOW that the gaming market, as a result of sonys popularity and assembly line production of insanes amount of sequels (the same game being sold over and over to the same exact market), you can make ALOT of money by making subpar products for popular platforms (like wii) as long as you have name brand recognition .... an IP to attach the shoddy port/spinoff too. But even THEN more and more games that are intended to be quick cash ins on popular franchises are surpassing their counterparts on other systems DESPITE being poor ports with added wii controls; because full motion activity is FAR MORE FUN than pushing a button. Take Tiger Woods 2007......from all the reviews, even though the scores are equal or lower than the counterparts, it seems that this game, as a golf game, is FAR more interactive and far more fun. Reviewers dock points BECAUSE they know its a techinically bad port (bad textures, ported engine, not much effort put into the BUILD of the game) yet they go on to describe the game as being much more fun than just pushing a button 3 times.....because it IS more fun. And because of this games, despite being poor ports, like TW07 sell alot of copies and turn an IMMENSE profit because of the lack of production (you dont have to spend millions of dollars trying to make it HD......especially when the controls make the game so more fun than the x360/ps3 versions). First off, the title of the thread was not supposed to be taken seriously, it was just a clever title-obviously it wasn't recieved as such. Secondly, points against the wii are not damage control. Wii haters aren't opposed to your abstract notion of 'fun', what I'm personally against is a backwards philosophy. By appealing to non gamers, you can make the crappiest game in the world, just as long as it seems fun and cool, and it will sell. This baclwards philosophy of porting games from the gamecube, ps2, ps, ds needs to stop, but unfortunatly nintendo and even miyamoto himself promote this backwards philosophy. That philosophy will be the death of gaming to gamers like us (excluding rabbid nitnendo fans).

I'm sorry but you are an embaressment to all sheep. Right now, the 360 is #1 in sales in ratings, although the Wii is selling faster. Wii softaware sales are much higher than I anticipated (Wii Play?) but there really is somewhat of a drought in Wii games right now but there have been some minor releases such as SSX Blur and Sonic recently.

Actually, I think it's a mixture of that and the developers already had some games in development for the Cube that got pushed on to the Wii for faster release.

I think this year we can expect to see better things from the Wii.

XBOX 360 > Wii right now. Stop being fanboys, it's almost as bad as the haters. It's been out a year before, and has more to offer consumers in terms of content however it is true at this pace the Wii looks to easily surpass it by the end of the year but remains to be seen. Before claiming anything give the systems time to actually build a library of games.

--You misunderstand my point. Non gamers are different then casuals. Appealing to non gamers and having them the be the majority is bad for those who enjoy epic and artisitic games. Non gamers want their minigames and whatever else seems cool and "in". Non gamers would turn the industry into a port central minigame market. Fewere epic games will be made? after all, why spend millions of dollars when you can make a quick cash on last years ps2 game?
