Do you classify them as gamers in the same context for those that play minesweeper and such? No, you don't. And great way in generalizing again, grandpas, grandmas and 7 year olds aren't the only ones the Wii has appealed to and for those they may enjoy such titles as mentioned. And once again you fail to realize the Wii like every other console after launch has many ports, for better or worse. That's how it is. And don't you think a non-gamer may become interested in gaming and then grow from there? If they start having fun with games and start becoming more involved with them, becoming a casual and going from there. The Wii is beneficial in the sense it cna attract (eventually) of all kinds. And another issue is, what games are actually selling on the Wii? There are barely any that are actually ports and upcoming titles aren't ports either if you took the time to realize that they are different. Furthermore, you claim that there are all these ports from these systems. Why don't you share some of those, that the PS3 haven't been subject to or 360 in terms of a previous installment. Trauma Center, it's actually a really good game on both platforms, Twilight Princess... it's also good on both platforms and in some aspects the Wii is better, anything else worth noting?

[QUOTE="DementedDragon"]As of right now the Wii doesn't impress me with it's games; the controller is great, but the games I really want for it don't come out until late this year.sexy_luigi

Sorry that was just plain dumb and stupid on your part. The system just launched, it will have far more better games than the ps2 and 360 combined, if sales are indicative of trends lately. Graphic whores are a dying breed my friend, play games for fun, don't be so shallow

That was a foolish attack on your part. Everything DementedDragon said is perfectly logically and within reason...

Who gave you the right to use my name in your thread jumior? Anyways since my original thread was locked, I'll explain myself here. First off, the title of the thread was not supposed to be taken seriously, it was just a clever title-obviously it wasn't recieved as such. Secondly, points against the wii are not damage control. Wii haters aren't opposed to your abstract notion of 'fun', what I'm personally against is a backwards philosophy. By appealing to non gamers, you can make the crappiest game in the world, just as long as it seems fun and cool, and it will sell. This baclwards philosophy of porting games from the gamecube, ps2, ps, ds needs to stop, but unfortunatly nintendo and even miyamoto himself promote this backwards philosophy. That philosophy will be the death of gaming to gamers like us (excluding rabbid nitnendo fans).mangobear

you do realize that crappy games can be made for every system it is not nintendo's philosophy that enables for crappy games to be made. It is not only appealing to non-gamers it is appealing to everyone. LOZ is a gamers game mario glaxay is a gamers game, paper mario is a gamers game, mario kart is a gamers game, final fantasy crystal bearers is a gamers game, hell there are a bunch of games coming out for the Wii that are gamers games, every system will have its crap games and every system will have its really good games, nintendo's philosophy is not backwards, it enables porting yes, but not only ports. the fact is Nintendo has one fo the best if not best first party support there will alwyas be strong nintendo games. I have read alotof your arguements already and none have made any points that are not argueable against. The Wii is jsut as much of a system as the PS3 and the Xbox 360 i should know in my family we have all three now stop trying to bash other systems

wow, i've heard so many people say that nintendo is killing the gaming industry, from foamingpanda to mangobear, will these idiots please give it a rest? Expanding the market is NOT killing gaming, all the wii haters right now are looking pretty patheticsexy_luigi
I don't "hate" the Wii I just think it's getting waaay too much credit for 2 games. Well one is more like a minigame kindof game and the other needs no introduction. I'm just gonna get one when the real games come out that's all.

And why do you think that is? Publishers KNOW that the gaming market, as a result of sonys popularity and assembly line production of insanes amount of sequels (the same game being sold over and over to the same exact market), you can make ALOT of money by making subpar products for popular platforms (like wii) as long as you have name brand recognition .... an IP to attach the shoddy port/spinoff too. But even THEN more and more games that are intended to be quick cash ins on popular franchises are surpassing their counterparts on other systems DESPITE being poor ports with added wii controls; because full motion activity is FAR MORE FUN than pushing a button. Take Tiger Woods 2007......from all the reviews, even though the scores are equal or lower than the counterparts, it seems that this game, as a golf game, is FAR more interactive and far more fun. Reviewers dock points BECAUSE they know its a techinically bad port (bad textures, ported engine, not much effort put into the BUILD of the game) yet they go on to describe the game as being much more fun than just pushing a button 3 times.....because it IS more fun. And because of this games, despite being poor ports, like TW07 sell alot of copies and turn an IMMENSE profit because of the lack of production (you dont have to spend millions of dollars trying to make it HD......especially when the controls make the game so more fun than the x360/ps3 versions). You have to look at the industry as a whole; its not nintendo's fault that publishers (and their contracted devs) are doing the bare minimum......the last gen set the bar so low for game quality such that it allows for bad ports to be made and then sell. Now that they are coming to the Wii with superior gameplay and control the bar is being CONTINUOUSLY RAISED because of the massive innovation presented by the Wiimote. Thinking things through is fun; you should try it sometime, son.

If the Wiimote is so much "fun," why is the tilt (reviewer's like of the game) on the 360's version of Tiger Woods higher than that on the Wii? :|

Oh and don't call me son, foo.

Way to ignore 95% of the content of my post, jeesh. Your not even worthy of responding to properly. In the future make sure to respond to the substance of the post instead of picking apart the particular example; look at teh core concepts of the post, the ideas and the claims, son.

That, but more so, EA didn't implement the controls as well as they should have.
