I'm not talking about $$ it took repairing the X360. I'm talking about sales. I'm pretty sure the RROD is one of the major reasons why the X360 sales have been poor (sales are very slow WW and in US is neck and neck with PS3 which has ainferiorlibrary. PS3 is set to pass X360 sometime in 2009) even with such a great library of games.

So in short I think RROD cost the X360 2nd place WW (When this gen is over). X360 will finish 3rd

The 360 will outsell the PS3 by the end of it's lifetime but the PS3 will still continue to sell.

Anyway the RROD is nearly fixed.

once consumer confidence in something is broken it is not easily fixed even if the problem is fixed (RROD not yet fixed)

I think it cost them 1 billion for the 3 year warranty which is a great remedy. If my ps3 breaks after september (1 year) i will have to pay for it to be fixed whereas ms will quickly replace my 360 for 3 years.

trust me its not quick. I don't own a PS3 but it doesn't have RROD. So most likely it wont break due to a design flaw. I got RROD 3 times so far. It takes a month (when your system breaks to when your repaired/refurbished/new x360 arrives. So far I have been without my x360 for 3 months (Once I get my x360 back fromrepairs it would be 3 months total). They do give you a 30 day Xbox live because it takes about 30 days so you don't loose any Xbox live time

I hope it is because I don't want to send it back for repairs for a fourth time. Anyway this thread is not about RRODexistingbut the affects it had on the performance of the X360 (sales)

Honestly, I know to saying PS3 will take 2nd is a bit ignorant, but saying 360 will is even more so.

that sucks.. it depends where you live, most people get it back 2-3 weeks. I've heard sony's warranty is crap, they might send you a different sku and they sometimes take up to 2 months

If you read on xbox.com it takes 2-3 weeks. Just that it takes 2-3 weeks after theyreceiveyour x360. But it takes one week to get a box (To ship your X360) and another week for your xbox to arrive at the repair station. When you get RROD again thats another month of no X360. And many people get it more than once. I got it 3 times now. So 3 RROD* 1 month of repair each= 3 month without X360

Correction, Microsoft will only fix your 360 for RROD's after one year.

If lets say you get disc reading errors, you're on your own.

Dont be so sure my friend.

I know plenty of people who didnt buy a 360 just for the sake of RROD.

Myself included.
