I think with the specs it supposedly has, and the way MS prices things (especially with their surface books), I think this can't be less than $1000. Which I don't get because it's supposed to compete with PS4, but the PRO will be at least $350 by then. That's my two cents anyway. What are you thinking, SW? Cheaper? More expensive?

There is no way that they are going to sell it for more than $500. Microsoft isn't stupid, they know that no console priced above $500 has ever sold well. I wouldn't even be surprised if they got aggressive and were even willing to take a short term loss and sell it for as low as $400 in order to blow the PS4 Pro out of the water in terms of value and then make up the money later from selling content and services to a larger userbase in the long term.

100 bucks more than the Pro.

Maybe even 50 if MS is really for the gamers.

500 dollars minimum

The xbox one launched with Kinect so that raised the price..

The GPU 250-350 dollars/ retail price. MS will pay less for the GPU 150- 200 dollars direct from AMD.

The CPU 250 dollars at retail. MS 100 to 150 dollars..

MS will probably pay AMD 250 to 300 dollars for the GPU and CPU. I not saying i know but i think they have 200 dollars left, to sort out what memory it will have, drives and harddrives.

And don't be surprised if they take a hit on the Scorpio just to beat Sony with sales?

400 dollars not going to happen. Its a 4k native console. Sony can price the PRO its only 1080p machine with 4K upscale.

I expect 499, but I think 399 would sell like crazy. If MS wanted to they could make it 499 with an elite controller or 399 with no controller for those upgrading. I already have 3 controllers, I'd buy a controller-less model for sure.

Hmm maybe they will not have a controller included in the box? Current xbox one controller can be used when you play games on the Scorpio. It would be a smart move and a way to keep the price down. I wonder if MS thought about this and was factoring this in when they where thinking about the Scorpio pricing?

Originally i thought it was gonna be $550-600. Now i'm leaning more toward $550 and possibly $500 if MS is ready to take a major loss. But if i had to bet, i'd go with $549.99.

I think $600-700 depending in the storage.

If they up the power on it I'd pay up to $800. That's roughly the same price as a prebuilt midranged rig which is what I think MS is ultimately working towards. Making a branded gaming PC just like the surface is a branded tablet.

Lots of people are saying they are not going to price it higher but they already have the Xbox One S for those that don't want to spend and we all know high end gamers will spend money on stuff like this.

If they are smart, they are going to price it competitively with the PS4 Pro. They have seen Sony fumble with this thing, and should do everything in their power to take advantage. By the time manufacturing starts, I doubt it's going to cost them as much as it would be to release now, so there will be a bigger margin, and if they have to take a loss for the first year to gain an advantage, it would be in their best interest.

$500 tops. If I'm wrong, then well MS really is in trouble and out of their mind. Being north of $400 is already pushing their luck. And it would take years for the cost of those parts to drop. Stagnating sales.

It needs to be $500 or less if they want anyone to buy it. $400 if they want to seriously compete with the Pro also they need to ditch this ecosystem bollocks and launch it with Scorpio exclusives otherwise it will just be a low to mid range PC and nothing else when it releases.

@SolidGame_basic: 499 minimum / 599 maximum. But then again it has some time before it gets a release , maybe is less than 499 by then , who knows.

500$ if they want me to purchase it as I have many Xbone games and 369 games to play on that.

They'll own Sony if they get a 400$ though.

I definitely expect it to be closer to $500 than $400, but I don't think $400 is impossible. Microsoft would definitely have to sell it at a loss to get it that low, but Microsoft is a very rich company and can afford to sell at a loss in the short term in order to beat Sony and put themselves in a better long term position.

Microsoft has the opportunity here to destroy the PS4 in terms of value by offering a more powerful system at a competitive price and I think it would be a smart business move to take advantage of that. They can afford the short term loss and they would eventually be able to make up the loss in the long term with the content and services that they could now sell to a larger userbase.

$499, its probably an amd 470 type gpu which isnt expensive and will be cheaper by then. They want to win back gamers and push their ecosystem so I cant see them going higher than 499

It would be a 480 not 470 and a beefed up 480. The 480 clocks 5.5Tflops.

Negative connotations with 599 so they can't do that. 399 is too low for what they are allegedly going to include, thus that leaves 499.

I might be an idiot but I would expect it to cost more than I would be willing to spend ($500+). If I'm wrong about that I will probably buy it. I don't love the Xbox brand and would rather build a PC than spend more than $500 on it but if it comes in at a cheaper price I will probably say screw the PC, I'll take it. But in the end it's all based on games. Graphics and high frame rates really mean f*ck all to me. I'm a weirdo but fun games is all I'm really into and don't care about fps and resolution in the end. Don't judge me, I only ask for enjoyment out of my video games. I don't give a shit what platform that they end up being played on.

$499-$599 is what I'm expecting. MS is going to eat a decent chunk of the launch units and makes me wonder if they'll split into two SKUs again (500GB at $500 and a 2TB drive at $600, or something along those lines).

I think for the base model. It will be around around $400 - $600. But I think for higher end models. I predict Microsoft to charge Surface Level prices. Maybe they will let OEMs like Dell, HP to join the Xbox Console ecosystem and have them sell their own Consoles running full Windows 10 with just an XB dashboard on top. (Kinda works with the Play Anywhere initiative)

It won't be anywhere near $1000. Most likely it will be $500 or less I'm thinking. Which won't be bad considering it will be twice as powerful then the PS4 Pro. Microsoft is waiting a year so the price will be cheaper. If they released it today, the price would probably be around $700-$800.

You guys make absolutely no sense.

Why on Earth would the Scorpio be priced at $500+ in late 2017? There is nothing about the hardware that justifies a $500 price tag, absolutely nothing.

- 6 Tflops GPU will be a $199.99 card in late 2017,

- 12GB's of ram in late 2017 will be cheaper than what 8GB's of ram cost Sony in 2013

- UHD Blu-ray player will be even cheaper.

Then you add the fact that Sony will have a full year head start with the Pro with a possible $50 price drop come late 2017. Microsoft cannot price the Scorpio $100 - $150 more expensive than the Pro if they want to be compeitive. At most the Scorpio has to be no more than $50 more expensive than the Pro.

one of the benefits of waiting a bit longer is that you can find ways to bring costs down, and the cost will also naturally decline.

I bet they will go for something like $450.

I'd guess $500. Anything less than that would be insane for those specs. If they actually get aggressive and take a loss to match the Pro's price then shit is gonna get real ugly lol.
