The series is aging badly and if there isn't some radical change to reinvigorate it... it probably deserves a 7.5, but it will get 8.5 or 9.

I don't know because I haven't played it yet or let alone follow the game that much to get a real idea of how the game will turn out. If I had to guess it will probably be no lower than 7.

no, i'm pretty sure i didn't forget that.

while i don't like the new ff's as much as the old ones (it started going downhill at 8 for me) i think they're still pretty good games and i actually managed to finish 12 and even played 10 through probably 4 times before i finally beat it (my ps2's kept getting lost/stolen/sold etc)

On a serious note, the game will probably deserve some where around an 8.5 but the score will be anywhere between 8-10.

8 regardless. They won't finish the game before they review it, which I'm pretty sure is why XII scored so high. I think it'll be a 9 game.

3 years isn't that long, really. The wait for XII was longer, if you don't consider XI to be a true Final Fantasy game.

The downgrades aren't really that bad. Quality could improve as well. At this stage XIII is constantly changing and any new information we get is outdated. The devs are just trying to do the best they can do and the quality will fluxuate until they meet that medium ground.

I like the art style, but that's just me. The names, however ... *shudders*

Have you heard about the in-battle class system, the contextual difficulty system, and the increased strategy element mechanics?

Note that I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just saying. :)
