I've been gaming for 20+ years and I never called myself hardcore either. it's a fairly recent thing and me and all my gamer friends (25 years or older) usually despise the elitist attitudes of the immature teens that call themselves hardcore.I know, it is rather hilarous. I have been gaming for around 13 years and I will never call myself 'hardcore'. Once you begin to label yourself you cut-off gaming experiences and enforce stereotypes. Those who call themselves 'hardcore' use their spare time, and their money, wastefully.

Seriously. I applaud their looking into the mass audience and a wider demographic. But the Wii as it stands doesn't cater to the hardcore demographic.
100% agree.
Elaborate? I can put a list of games from this year alone that could prove you wrong.I think hardcore gamers take themselves way too seriously. It's like:Seriously? I don't know if its the right word, but ultimately ridiculous reasons thats probably more fitting. Kind of like the hole Epic notion that some "serius gamers" have on any certain game. How I would automatically consider Assasins Creed as a more epic(WTH does that mean to some gamers in the first place?) game then No More Heroes or for example Metroid Prime etc etc etc and why such titles should not be considered as such is just beyond me.
"Hi, I'm a hardcore gamer. I've blown off 200 people's faces off with a shotgun, killed 1000 zombies with a chainsaw, beaten 69 prositutes to death with a baseball bat, destroyed several dozen mechs, imploded 1,000,000 alien invaders and blown up their entire invading army."
People seem to wear that like a badge of honor... or something. I think the dumbed down version is "Durrr, I like blood and explosions."RahnAetas
[QUOTE="Boba_Fett_3710"]Metroid and Zelda are both hardcore games. I would say Miyamoto is already on the right track.sonicmj1
If Metroid and Zelda weren't enough to get 'hardcore gamers' to own a Gamecube, it won't get them to own a Wii.
What makes you think that the PS2 user base was comprised of more hardcore gamers then the GC in the first place?Mr.Miyamoto does not even know that they are people who want to play something else other than Mario.miss_kitt3nTold you so himself?
Metroid and Zelda are both hardcore games. I would say Miyamoto is already on the right track.Boba_Fett_3710No they are games catered towards Nintendo fans. They are aimed towards core gamers but it's the same as GC.

I've played almost every console system since the mid 80s and I've been PC gaming since the EGA days. I've never called myself a "Hardcore Gamer". Now that I'm older I don't have as much time for games, but I still like to have something to play on. The wii works just fine for me.I know, it is rather hilarous. Agreed. I think the only people who should be able to labe themselves or other people "hardcore" is if they have an open mind to video games. Most people who call themselves "hardcore" limit themselves to only a few systems, because they label other systems with negative sterotypes. Sucks to be them I guess. They're the one missing out on games found on those systems.[QUOTE="Caviglia"][QUOTE="RahnAetas"]I think hardcore gamers take themselves way too seriously. It's like:

[QUOTE="Boba_Fett_3710"]Metroid and Zelda are both hardcore games. I would say Miyamoto is already on the right track.Supafly1We want 3rd party games that have depth, have characters that can be taken serious, and no PORTS!

Speak for yourself, You want that.
I want' games with debth too, but games that are just flat out fun are good too. Im a gamer I like all kinds of games. Serious or just fun.Â
Why appeal to hardcore gamers when you have the opportunity to appeal to the masses?m3Boarder32
Â
Or better yet be try to target both, which is what Nintendo is doing. Â

This is true.
[QUOTE="GundamGuy0"]If your a 'Hardcore' gamer won't you want to buy a Wii to play the exclusive games? Or is that not the kind of 'hardcore' you were thinking of. Ontainbecause the so called "Hardcore" gamers are just elitist gamers that are into themselves. Hardcore plan and simple is people who will play anything, despite how it looks or how it controls. The so call hardcore people that have PS3 or 360 aren't hardcore because they won't play with anything but HD compatible games. If you are truly hardcore, you see that Wii appeals to you due to the controls not being anything you have seen.

If it is indeed much better in any department in comparison to Killer 7 like Suda says, call me crazy but I can see this title easily surpassing games like the MGS series in the hole politically charged storylines department. Games like Gears of War are called more epic then these titles for what reason exactly? I can see more depth in the characters of Katamari, then again its not less of an awsome game because of that.
[QUOTE="creativeminded"][QUOTE="greenleaflink"]The Wii is for hardcore gamers...games are about gameplay and options. The Wii has more gameplay options then any other system so theres no doubt that the Wii is for that. However we wont see these games until Nintendo brings out a really good game that 3rd party devs can look at and realise the wii isnt for kids. Oh and anyone who has played Godfather on the Wii knows gameplay is unbeatable on the WiiReading posts about him working on the 'pointer device' and 'interface' to appeal to hardcore gamers?
those Hard Core gamers, the ones who refuse to touch a wii, simply because its just mini games and not epic, games.
i cant see anyone who loves and worships the fps on xbox moving to the wii. its highly unlikely.
like wise with ps3.
there are hardcore games for the wii but lately all is casual...moving alot of hardcore gamers to the 360.
im confused about this
Rip870
BS wii is design to attract casuals. Their is nothing on the wii thats hardcore.
The only thing wii has is party games and downgraded lastgen ports
You're darn wrong there! You must have not known the hardcore games of Wii. Sadness, Project H.A.M.M.E.R. (even no relesed details as of now), SSBB , SMG , MP3, RE:UC and many more are some of the cool games aimed for HARDCORE gamers not CASUAL.Did a sheep say ssbm = hardcore. LFMAO. Then another calls a gta game a casual game. Just because it has a wide audience doesnt make it casual. Maybe its the freedom that attract players to the game. Next we will get a sheep calling Mario hardcore. If any calls TP hardcore, I will die lol. ps3-nikita Â
Yeah, Ssbm has depth, is that hard to believe?

Sorry, That didn't work Last Gen

Zelda and Mario are franchises that have been loved by a lot of hardcore gamers in their 20 and so years of life.
The main problem is lack of games. The control may seem a bit simplistic but smart developers should be able to make complex games work with the simplistic controls. The controllers main problem is lack of buttons IMO.StrakhaThe Mortal Kombat Armageddon control scheme does not lend confidence there. You are either stuck swinging it to use special moves or you have to buy a classic controller (meaning even more batteries used). Pretty much the Wii-mote won't be able to handle any of the more complex fast-paced games so far as I can tell. Motion control only goes so far compared to a fully-featured controller and the Wii-mote certainly is not that. [QUOTE="StealthSting"] What makes you think that the PS2 user base was comprised of more hardcore gamers then the GC in the first place? Don't know about him, but for me? Statistical probability and the lack of many games of the "hardcore" variety on the Gamecube. Sorry, SSB is not "hardcore" it may be fun, but Virtua Fighter is hardcore, SSB is not.
Sadly I don't think Mega Man has had the right to be called "hardcore" since the PS1 days..if not SNES or earlier. There are of course a couple of exceptions like the Zero series.Hmm I have to agree. I do play some games Hardcore though. Megaman, Madden, and Doa. But besides that I only casually and leisurly play games.

If your a 'Hardcore' gamer won't you want to buy a Wii to play the exclusive games? Or is that not the kind of 'hardcore' you were thinking of. GundamGuy0The games I consider "hardcore" are those that are very difficult or require significant dedication to win or be good at. They also need to have a certain amount of depth. By this measure I don't only play hardcore games, but I certainly don't consider what I see in Wii's lineup to fit that bill by and large either.
It has some depth, but not much looking at most of the other fighters on the market.Yeah, Ssbm has depth, is that hard to believe?
