Why play COD3 when the first and second COD games were so much better? Call of Duty 3 offers nothing new to the whole WW2 game universe. Same guns, same settings, same boring enemies, everything you have done before. Besides several little parts where you drive, but those are only decent. And while it does make firing a gun feel a little more realistic, Resistance beats it by offering weapons we haven't seen before and that are quite frankly much more fun to use.
And WW2 does not have a great story. "Hey, those guys don't like jews and kill them for some reason. Hurr, let's go save them." Oh yes, truely great. Everything about Resistance blows Call of Duty 3 out of the park when it comes to settings and such. Instead of raping history for entertainment, it actually tries to do something different. Which we need so see more of in games. COD3 does offer a entertaining and often thrilling gameplay experience, when the difficulity is turned up really high, but it's something you've already played hundreds of times before.
Call of Duty 3 = more of the same.
Resistance = Offers a novel twist to a historical event and actually gives us something new.
While I agree that the first 2 CODs were better (as IW made them both) that doesn't mean COD3 isn't a solid game. So what if WW2 FPSs have been done to death. None of them offer what COD does in terms of action and scope. COD is a brilliant franchise. And what exactally makes RFOM so damn special? Like we haven't seen a million scifi FPSs either. You sir are being biased towards a game you love against a genre you obviously know little about.As for the story of WW2, lets not down play it little kid. Many many brave men died in that war while preforming heroic actions, something the garbage scripted scenes in RFOM couldn't even begin to tell. These games tell their story as best they. Yes, the reason behind WW2 is stupid, but the individual stories that lie within this conflict are nothing short of amazing. That is what I meant. Try picking up a book and reading some first hand accounts. Far better than anything insomniac could ever portray.
