What is a WiiU.....??
This topic is locked from further discussion.
i dont think i will have fond memories of the console itself like the GC or wii. it was a badly designed, badly thought out console. the only positive i can say about the wiiu itself is the gamepad integration into the system is absolutely top notch.
but the games.....well it earned its keep in my house. MK8 and xenoblade stand out but it also had a selection of great exclusives. so pretty solid.
but its no wii, GC or snes (and id imagine N64. never had one at the time). the excitement around the console, the great exclusives from nintendo and 3rd parties, simple things like swinging a sword in resort, great use of the controller in red steel 2, exciting things like starwing using the new FX chip or a 3D zelda...that kind of buzz.....the wiiu has none of that.
i think the wii will have a better time in the history books to be honest.
@storm_of_swords:
I'm going to lick up a spare, maybe two depending on price, along with a bunch of GC controllers. Even though my GC still works like new, a disc drive is bound to have problems at some point. Imagine what the underground scene could do with the controller combination options. Potential for this console was never reached, unfortunately. Sad that gamers could not see the multiplayer options it could have offered.
The same way a aborted child is in a rape case... We never wanted it, it never really existed, we pretend it never happened and move on.
For a big blunder than Nintendo couldn't kill fast enough.
^ This ..essentially a failure... 3rd parties left basically a year or two after the console launch = no 3rd parties at all...& you know its bad when the CEO himself comes out & say it is a good complimentary/secondary console. :P

Have you seen a Direct lately?. My god, they might as well say they arent supporting it anymore like Sony did with Vita.
@emgesp: "This console should have been axed a year ago."
Why? So no one else who has interest can buy it? Because look what I got with my tax return just last month (and the games I own so far):
And further down that logic, do you think that the game price drops Nintendo had JUST yesterday (which include reprints of games Nintendo was said to call off, such as Pikmin 3) SHOULD never have happened?
See, this is another reason why sheep can't stand you. You'd rather see other Nintendo fans get alienated even more with ideas on the level of dictatorial leaders/political parties even in fiction, only on a corporate level, but still.
When people look back at the wiiu they will be surprised at how good the games are. Currently in DK Tropical Freeze and I'd rank it as one of the best platformer I've played. Starts kind of slower, but dang the visuals are insane and so is some of the music that goes along with them.
People are missing out.

How can you look at that timeline of releases and not be outraged as a Wii U owner? How can you excuse the 20 months where the Wii U didn't see any major releases? Nintendo treated the Gamecube much better.
I see it as the console that single handedly held this generation up for the first few years. It still has the highest quantity of stand out titles in my opinion even though it's slowed down considerably as of late.
I'll remember it for
It will have a real small niche fanbase later on.
As a giant failure with a handful of great first party games. I haven't had such a small number of games for a console since the N64. I think I like the N64 better at this point. I should have waited before getting a Wii U. The droughts have been terrible, 3rd party support basically doesn't exist, and some of Nintendo's 1st party offerings aren't that good. It's a letdown.

First of all, I'm not excusing it as I think it's bad that it doesn't have the third party support (which, to be fair, I get the impression that ALMOST NOBODY seems to want on their systems, despite the complaints of it lacking), but I just can't get TOO mad about it because, like I said, I've recently got it as of last month.
Second of all, how can you support ideas that piss off their userbase even more by saying the Wii U should have been killed off as of last year? On second thought, considering you defend Nintendo's tyrannical behavior of the NES and SNES eras because of their success (which again, the third parties they worked with HATED it, which you and other SNES fans keep sweeping under the rug, you can't have it both ways and you know it), I think that answered my wuestion.

You really think Super Mario Bros Wii U is better than both Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World?
You must have been born in the late 90's.

As long as Nintendo gave Wii U owners a path to upgrade I wouldn't see an issue with cutting its life short after the incredibly sluggish sales.
I'm just saying, people invested $299 - 350 for this console and it didn't get supported properly even by Nintendo.
