I say go for it.

I'm a huge Zelda fan. So long as Link doesn't speak a word I'm cool with it. I know they're supposed to speak Hylian or whatever and not English, but every series needs to change at some point or face stagnation.
It would be strange at first, getting used to it and everything, but I think it would ultimately work in the series' favor. I mean, Midna sort of spoke in TP (made noises at least) pretty consistently despite the subtitles.
Although I heard TP was the last Zelda of its kind, so I'm not sure if this issue is even relevant anymore.
I suppose it should be in there considering a game apparently can't be AAA at GameSpot without it.
:?
Go for it. There's really not much holding the series back from voice acting (yes, even Link).KingOfTaco
Giving Link a voice would not be a good move at all.
It would be like Gordon Freeman speaking.

exactly and then theres also the possibility of that voice actor not being a part of the next game. that would be annoying. remember fox had a new voice in the latest starfox game, because he and everyone else sounded different than they did in starfox adventures.[QUOTE="KingOfTaco"]Go for it. I understand the concern, but this whole "You are Link" aspect is a bit tired now.

For that reason they could get away with giving him different voice actors.
I don't think he should speak because it would take away from the feeling of "being" the character, and would be too much of a departure from tradition. It just wouldn't feel right.

No, not really.
It's part of what makes games like this, Half Life, etc. more involving.
I think it would ruin the series for me. I don't know. I guess I'm just picky. I enjoy reading, and Zelda has always been about story telling.SmashBrosLegendWhy not make that great story telling accessible to all? Not everyone likes reading. Most choose to skip paragraphs, and paragraphs of text; however, people will typically watch a cinematic or listen to voice-acted dialog (so long as they haven't already seen/heard it before).

What makes it more involving? Link's been given a backstory (minimal or otherwise), so I already know I can't put my personality in Link's place. What if I want to act like a sarcastic ass who saves Hyrule because he's bored? Instead everyone acts as though I'm extremely polite.

Why ruin the Zelda experience for the true fans to satisfy casuals? I don't know, maybe I'm just being selfish, but I think kids these days really should do a little more reading.
Still it's a video game. People don't play them to read.Andy-DSo, you started gaming last generation then? :|
I'd be fine with everyone talking except for Link. *recalls the CD-i entries and shivers*HeedleGlavin
I doubt it'd be THAT bad. It's not like the horrible Phillips actors are lining up outside of Nintendo's door right now or anything.
This is what happens when you put voice actors in Zelda:

Absolutely in support of voice acting.
But before voice acting, I'd like to see the size, complexity, and scope of hyrule increase ten-fold. More factions, mini-quests, stronger plot line, etc.
If Link and Gordon Freeman meet.... It would be weird.ElCisneTo us yes. Can't say the same for them:P

Of course, because Nintendo already has acting jobs set up for the horrible Phillips actors
