Hunting Season Begins - Free game and it looks sweet as well.

This looks and sounds pretty darn cool and it's Free !!!! Anyone playing this or give it a try yet?

I need a new PC for crying out loud as my desktop is as old as the hills and my laptop is a few years old too. :(

The Story.

The Hunter, a free hunting game and social network from Emote Games, has opened its doors to all of you animal slayers out there. So far over 100,000 people have made their way into this, apparently, popular hunting destination.

TheHunter combines realistic hunting action that includes tracking, spotting and harvesting a variety of animals, with a larger social networking community that gives players the chance to meet other players, post information about themselves and their hunts, receive awards and see scores. The online element of theHunter allows the game to continually evolve, with regular updates and the release of new features such as hunts, gear, new species, maps and habitats, making the game truly reflective of the ever changing hunting world.

Have had my eye on this for a bit now.Going to have to check it out for sure now. Looks interesting.

the best part is its free :D im downloading it now i remember playing a few hunting games when i was younger and i enjoyed them Im to lazy to do it for real so this works out great for meshadow_hosi

Nice try. I'd have more respect for hunting if it was done by people who track animals and then take them out with bows. Instead, most "hunting" is little more than people with big guns, wearing camoflague outfits, hiding in trees or bushes until an animal walks in front of their gun. It shouldn't even be called hunting...it should be called fishing for deer.

And that doesn't even address the issue of people who pay to go on "caged" hunts where the animals are essentially confined to a small fenced in area making them easier to shoot.

How is it not the same. I've seen hunting games. Stand there, 100 animals walk right out in front of you, stop and sate, and you shoot them.

And no, I'm not an animal rights activist. I just don't understand people's fascination with shooting a buch in the head and think putting that head on a wall is a "trophy" to show off. I'm all in favour of eating and using what you actually do hunt, it is more the notion that hunting is less and less a "sport" and more and more a way for people to feel a false sense of empowerment.

For some reason I cant watch any of the videos. Anyone play it yet? How is it?

Now on the first part - I don't want to argue so let me just say that the same could be said for FPS of all stripes.

Yeah hunting is dumb and so is this game. Why would you shoot deer when you can get in a range rover and plow through the forest. I bet you that you will get more deer that way and theyll be tenderized.

:cry: what a crappy game :cry: lol, i just played it for like 10 minutes finding deer prints and the occasional poo, no deer in sight. It might be fun for people who like hunting, but i just ended up trying to shoot the birds.

Sometimes when I get bored I stand out on the back deck with my M1 carbine and shoot at squirrels, rabbits, any critter that runs out of the woods, etc. I do not eat it but my dogs sure do love it, does that count?
I personally do not "hunt" but I know many people who do and they are not all "drunk gun toting rednecks". My uncle who is a nuclear engineer for Duke Power hunts turkey and deer on a regular basis.

Hopefully you were exaggerating, resorting to sterotypes is a bit tasteless. I forgive you all the same. :)

its a pretty good game.

takes ALOT of patience though. just started it and tracked for 1 hour before i finally shot a deer in tha head.

I live about 15 min from a city, so out in the countryside a bit you could say. There is a field across from me and my backyard once you walk out enough is encircled by woods. As you might can imagine we are in no short supply of squirrels. They make decent moving target practice and are pretty fun to get some practice with.

The dogs enjoy playing with them as well.

Downloading it now. I have been wanting to play a hunting game for awhile now. I watched a few videos and this game looks and sounds very interesting.
