its pretty much a parkour game.
and i love it, i played the demo 5 times, and i will probably play it again, and see how i can complete the level differently than last.
i just hope its not too short :(
Then you're brain cannot properly conprehend maybe? I'm asking since its pretty simple what the game is about. Cedmln
I like this reply best. I dont understand Gears Of War? Its bland, dull, grey, its the only game I have EVER played that hurts my eyes and gives me a sick feeling. And everyone is built like giant freeks of steroid GODS...I just dont get it.
Mirrors Edge is different, cool, and gives you an adrenialen"spelling" rush like I havent had in a long time...
the only thing about this game is that because of the lack of combat, and your mostly on the run, the story i think should be more compelling than, you have to deliver a message.. yay. Or the world should have like, you know more people in it that you can run through or interact with.VendettaRed07

They want to do some First Person parkour.
Cliffy B is a moron who got lucky. He doesn't understand Mirrors Edge, he doesn't understand Metal Gear Solid 4, he is the guy who you see at the mall who just talks for hours about the newest action flicks, who is in the new die hard, the new terminator, etc. but when you stop talking about those movies and ask him if he liked american history X, Crash, etc.
Cliffy B probably thinks Stephen Colbert voted for John McCain.
he doesn't understand Metal Gear Solid 4,
darth-pyschosis
Hmm? Cliffy B has stated he's actually a Kojima fan.
Although, I do agree this was a rather dumb thing to say.

And that makes you not sleep at night? He is who he is. Are you going to yell at people for not getting Emo music then? Some games klick with some people and some don't.

Maybe some fellow runners you chat with, but I don't think anything else would work.

no i don't mean to sound that serious, i just find Cliffy to spew pure stupidity.he is a terrible speaker, even in interviews for some reason.
i just think his approach to gaming is similar to the people who go out and see only big name summer block busters, but don't see the smaller gems during the rest of the year, like Miracle at St. Anna, and W.
i wonder if Cliffy voted for change??

I'd buy ME for its story. It is an RPG after all.
I hope it's not all just running and jumping. As long as there's something chasing me...even Mario had Goombas, you know?"
lol... I guess he doesn't know much about this game because they've already shown that the game has enemies. And as for not showing off the actual gunplay, they're doing that because the platforming is what's unique about the game. You can play the whole game without firing a single bullet if you want. But if you don't want to you don't have to. But they want to emphasize that difference between this game and other games.

He was clearly talking about Mirror's Edge, not Mass Effect (also, Mass Effect had a -very- disappointing story that ended just when it was getting interesting, but that's off-topic).
But yeah, I agree that there are some games, like RPGs and adventure games, that people will buy for their stories. Mirror's Edge won't be one of those games.
Clliffy B is one of those typical jock gamers who only play gun and sport games, I thought everyone already knows this.
A guy who calls himself Dude Huge and says (more) badass all the time pretty much proves he is a jock.
That's sad really, but I guess I honestly feel sorry for anyone who can't see the sheer beauty of Mirror's Edge. Ah well, at least unlike fanboys, Cliffy B. can at least back up his point by saying, "screw you, I make decent games and I'm f***ing rich!" :P
But seriously, it's a shame that he can't see the beauty in a game that doesn't need guns (there's even an achievement/trophy for not firing a single bullet). It's not about guns and violence, it's about freedom, the expression of it, and the amazing rush you get when you perform amazing physical feats that even real-life freerunners and parkour practioners could only dream of (I realize that some of the masters can pull things off like that, but amateurs like me can only fantasize about it). That, and it's got an amazing artstyle to boot, unlike a certain game thats color pallate is restricted to grey, brown, and dark blood-red.
EDIT: It seems that quite a few people know very little about the gameplay so I'll clear something up. According to previews, you WILL BE chased, a lot. The demo was meant to be an early level with little conflict required, but from what I've heard, the police and government will be pursuing you more and more aggressively as the game progresses. Of course, that's just what I've heard from previews, who knows? It might turn out to be laughably easy.
The music is what really makes this game EPIC. The start of the Demo level where Fait runs down the buliding gave me chills. GEOW gives me "Ok lets go online and pawn noobs"kid_who_grew_up
I have to agree with you on that, the music at the start of the demo (Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive) is just pure win and really gets you in the mood to do some serious jumping about, i love the song.
Mirror Edge is good, but the gun play is very..Very terrible. As is the A.I.Jamiemydearx3
If I'm not mistaken, the gun play is meant to suck. The game encourages you to NOT use guns. Why would anyone buy Mirror's Edge with the intent of playing it as a shooter? You're supposed to find creative ways to beat your opponents, and firing a gun is not very creative (unless you're going to do it Stanglehold style in slow-motion :P).
I will admit though, the AI is pretty stupid, I hope they get tougher in the later levels.
cliffy...shut up.
a game that is in first person view needs to have massive ammounts of gunplay?please.. instead of trashing this game people should be thankful it's something different.
lawlessx
I totally agree with you, there is finally something new coming to the table that i can barely wait for
He's not trashing it, he said it looked great. Did you read it?cliffy...shut up.

Cliffy is not going to agree with you calling him Cliffy
Its Dude Huge now.
Too put it simply, ME seems to have a far better core design than Gears.
Honestly from a design perspective he seems to be a decent designer, however hardly a conuessure or top dog of design.
Is it going to be a better game? We'll wait and see.
To put it succintly:
Oh my god, it's a game not revolving around guns.....
How.... how could that be?
Cliffster, go to DICE studios and find out. Now!

terrible excuse.
If you are going to implant a feature its best for the devs. to make it work its best.
I know its not a shooter but if you are going to allow guns and such then at least make those parts fun.
